Pros +
- The staff! So friendly and spoke good English. English isn't necessary for us to have a good stay, but was helpful as we needed some help with a few things. Really nice Japanese breakfast, tea ceremony and bath. Thank you!
- Authentic Japanese experience in quiet neighborhood. Wonderful, warm and friendly staff with good command of English. The service is better than 4 star hotel concierges. More relaxed/casual than most hotels. Feels more like a more upscaled youth hostel.
- We loved everything about the hotel! Easy to get to from train station, staff extremely helpful, room was always clean, and in a peaceful location.
Cons -
- The room felt a little claustrophobic due to the way the windows are situated, but not a big deal.
- Location is not great. Quite a long walk to subway. Food around the area is subpar, with limited selection. Convenience store is right around the corner to keep you from starving. Hotel employee is very uncomfortable. Room is too small.
- The futons were really thin, so it's basically like sleeping on the tatami floor.

The staff were incredibly friendly and the rooms were quaint and cute. The private bath was very nice as well.
