Zostel Phuket, Patong Beach

From the moment I arrived at Zostel Phuket, I was welcomed with a warm and friendly atmosphere. The staff is incredibly helpful, always available to assist with any queries or suggestions. The hostel is in a perfect location—close to the beach, local restaurants, and popular tourist spots. The common areas are beautifully designed and provide a great space to relax or meet fellow travelers. The dorms are clean, spacious, and well-maintained, with comfy beds and personal lockers for security. I especially loved the cozy lounge area, where you can enjoy a drink, play games, or just chat with new friends. The vibe here is so chill, making it a perfect spot to unwind after a day of exploring. They also have great events, like group dinners and pub crawls, which are a fantastic way to meet people.

Honestly, there's nothing to complain about.

It was modern, clean and the bathroom and balcony was really nice! Location was great and the beds were large and comfortable

The rooms didn’t lock correctly and you have to pay to hire towels. If you’re looking for a party hostel, I wouldn’t say this is one there was a good pool and bar, with activities every night but there was no one getting involved in this

The volunteers were really sweet and made me comfortable. The dorm and facility in general was good too!!

Could’ve been cleaner, the cleaning staff didn’t come in everyday and the toilet had a weird sewage smell that was pretty strong

It’s just poorly managed, no matter is the hygiene the staff or the atmosphere. Some highlights:They gave you room key and yet the door don’t lock. (◐‿◑)？They don’t clean the room so I see hi-chew candy pieces on the floor from the day I check in to the day I check out, and it was an eight day stay. (◐‿◑)？Their cleaning staff gather and chat and play loud music in front of the stair of my room and it was 8:20 in the morning(◐‿◑)？They brought two man into all female dorm because they gave the wrong key to the volunteer(◐‿◑)？Their signed rule claims respect rest hour after 11PM but their unnecessarily loud bar music often last longer(◐‿◑)？No outside food or drink rule is very inconvenient and most people don’t follow. (◐‿◑)？Room 301 is the worst room to stay at, it’s the intersection of people passing through so you’ll keep hearing loud people chatting or running. Super disturbing.Some of the staff don’t get English and it’s hard to communicate.Anyways, the way they perform and operate is just confusing. I don’t think the manager is properly trained fort the concept of hospitality. Think twice before you book it.

Good location close to Patong beach, nice pool and activities.The staff who are volunteering they do a great job ✨???

The price seems a bit expensive for a hostel and also the rent for scooter & laundry service was cheaper somewhere else nearby.Also you have to pay extra for the towel while in some other hostels is provided.

I had my worst sleep ever in thai , too many mosquitos , guy's drunk and couldn't stop snoring heavily all night

The common area is always buzzing with energy, people chatting, playing games, or planning their next adventure together. It’s the perfect spot to relax by the pool during the day and meet amazing travelers from all around the world in the evening. Zostel Phuket truly made my trip unforgettable!

Location was good and the room was okay with a good view. Staff were polite

When we arrived we had to pay an extra £100 for our booking which wasn’t stated until we arrived and on top of that we had to pay an additional 3% card charge. The fridge didn’t work at all, the bedding had stains and rips. We paid for breakfast to be included via booking.com (as this was optional) The first morning of our stay receptionist seemed completely surprised and shocked when we said we were there for breakfast (was open 6.30-10.30 and we arrived at 9am) they proceeded to seat us and gave us 3 options for breakfast - omelette scrambled or fried egg. Which is all they had to offer. After an extremely awkward breakfast the hotel owner came over to let us know they are going to refurbish in 2 months time hence why the breakfast is so poor (extremely bad excuse considering we paid full price for this) Hesitantly went to breakfast the following morning considering it was paid for, we was greeted with no options at all this time round but handed a freezing cold omelette (which me and my partner dislike anyway so would have been nice to at least have the 3 options we did previous) it was a very sad experience. Pool didn’t look clean at all, the ‘gym’ was an empty room with one bike in it. Following on from bad experiences the day before our departure we arranged and paid for a taxi service to the airport through the hotel’s reception all in advance to prevent delay/missing our flight as we needed to leave at 5.30am - by time morning came we were in the lobby 5.25am ready and waiting, only to realise the taxi had in fact not even been scheduled so the only receptionist at the front desk in a panic trying to arrange one for us, which of course was late and didn’t actually arrive until 6.00am. Overall was very disappointed with this hotel and believe it should not be 4 stars. Hopefully after their great renovation as spoken so highly of by the owner it will do them some huge favours.

V convenient to commute from the location to the beach and the mall..safe and godo value for money..staff friendly and helpful .

Terrible Experience – Avoid at All Costs!Our stay at Amalthea in Phuket was by far the worst hotel experience we have ever had. We were traveling as a family—my wife, our 2-year-old son, and our helper—and this hotel completely failed to provide even the most basic level of hospitality.We booked the "2 Bedroom Pool Access with Patio" from 23rd to 27th March 2025, expecting a comfortable and relaxing stay. Instead, we encountered nothing but issues.1. Arrival NightmareOur vehicle couldn’t even stop in front of the hotel because another car was parked there. We had to get down below and drag our luggage up a steep slope to the reception—all while managing our young child. Thankfully, our driver helped us, but this was already a bad start.2. Unprofessional Check-in & Payment IssuesUpon reaching reception, there was no real welcome—just two ladies and one man dressed casually as if they were at home. It immediately felt unprofessional.Then came the real shock: they insisted on cash-only payment, claiming they had no card machine. For a 4-night stay costing 34,000 Thai Baht, this was unacceptable. Instead of offering an alternative, the receptionist simply said, “You can go to the ATM and withdraw cash.”We had to search for an ATM that could dispense enough bills, as some machines only allowed 20 notes per withdrawal, meaning multiple transactions and additional overseas charges. Once we finally paid, we were just handed one key—no further instructions, no warm hospitality.3. Room Conditions – Absolutely Filthy!Upon entering the room, we immediately spotted two lizards running around, which we had to chase out ourselves. Then, we noticed the sliding door railing had a dead cockroach and was covered in dust. The glass and tabletops were also dusty, showing a complete lack of proper cleaning.Both room phones were not working, meaning I had to physically walk back down to request a cleaner.

Location is not to bad, and the rooms compared to surroundings are better. Staff were friendly

Front desk staff when we arrived wasn’t welcoming at all no greetings no smile no eye contact not polite at all seemed very rude rest of the staff was excellent but those two girls are bad reflection for the hotel would put customers off

Excellent Location , staff friendly and helpful and supportive .Room well equipped with basic amenities..clean .I will definitely come back and stay here.. Being a solo traveller, I felt safe .

Location my bf gives it a 5/10.Only because you had to cross a roundabout Imagine if you had kids....Also we stayed in the building behind so it would of been better to be closer and not take two elevatorsI give it a 7 Was scared to cross the ross thank goodness for my bf to help me. Amazing smoothie spot near by and massage places were not prostitution and there were trust restaurants by. Beach was a 12 min walk

Location of the property is right in Patong, making it walking distance (15-20mins) from Jungceylon/the beach. If you don’t want to walk, it’s a very quick tuktuk/bike ride away.

1. We didn’t realise the property is on a small “hill”. About 10 steps up/down? But it can be steep and you have to carry your luggage up to the lobby area.2. The photos of the place is accurate but outdated. The property is quite run down and doesn’t seem well maintained and has a bad smell through it.3. When we first got our room, we were given a disclaimer that if the a/c or water is not working, we can let them know and a room change is possible. This made us pay more attention to the room condition. The room was very stale when we went in, seeming like it has not been used in a long while. There were bugs on the walls, showing that the room was not cleaned properly and the a/c was not cold even when set to 17 degrees. It might have been a language barrier but when housekeeping came to check, we asked if there was another room available and were told that there wasn’t. Subsequently we were given the option to change to the room directly below which was still run down but felt cleaner than the first one we got. Not all light-switches were working in the new room as well.4. The place is clearly not soundproofed. We were able to hear everything clearly that was happening outside our room and I’m sure this was a 2-way thing.5. The gym is an empty room with some floor mats, mirrors and 1 exercise bike. No weights or other equipment.

The rooms have middle sharing door between it the neighbors so loudly and the windows views in the street it’s no good because all thing happened in street like happened in your room we cannot sleep we cannot rest

Location very easy to get around helfull staff breakfast was just enough plenty of choice clean lovely rooms with sea view nice pool walking distance to markets restaurants and shops will stay there again
