Karon Phunaka Resort

We loved the horizon pool and the views from it as well as from our balcony. Loved the convenience of the funicular! The staff were pleasant and friendly at all times. Enjoyed dining in with attentive staff and beautifully presented fresh food.

Nothing. For anyone reading this review my best recommendation is: with the ample hotel offer in Phuket, don’t book here! Facilities are old and not well maintained: our bed and the mattress were very old, making all sorts of noises and making our nights very uncomfortable, the bathroom looked absolutely worn out and the room had a terrible sewage smell coming from the bathroom all the time, we opened the balcony doors everyday but then had to deal with mosquitoes and bugs at night. On top of this, cleaning was not good either, we could see (a lot of) dust in the bathroom, curtains, etc. Finally, they say there is a shuttle to Karon beach, but it happens only once every hour, and to come back the shuttle was not always available on the beach (not very convenient)… All in all, I don’t think this hotel was worth the cost and our time in Phuket. A couple of friends stayed in another (cheaper) hotel right in front of Karon beach and ended up having a way better experience.

Loved every single person who works here for their authenticity, Toon shows you why Thailand is called the Land of Smiles, he was super helpful with our luggage. Lakme (not sure name spelling) at the restaurant, was very sweet and super nice. This property has personality and will provide a memorable stay.

Small sunbathing area around the pool, so could be quite difficult to get a seat.

The room is big. The view is beautiful. It is commendable that there is an elevator.

Difficult to get up. TV output is poor and old. Employees have a discriminatory attitude. Air conditioner is old and noisy, old model needs to be replaced. Other than the pool and fitness room, the resort does not live up to its name. Although a high personal discount is announced when booking, this is just marketing, the reality is very different.

Thw hospitality of Smile, the reception staff was exceptional. Cant thank her enough for making our stay pleasant one. The restaurant service was great.

The room with two separate was arranged where one of the beds has bad and noisy mattress. And the distance can be an issue if you are walker type.

The resort staff were exceptionally warm and hospitable. The room offered a spectacular view of the beach, hills (including the Big Buddha), and the infinity pool. It was just a short walk to the beach, and the neighborhood was calm, safe, and quiet.

I and my family stayed here for 2 nights and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Staff are friendly and ready to help, breakfast was good and the trolley plus lift experience was good. We had the ocean view and little bit silent without any unwanted noises from other guests. The food delivery I used to order from grab food app needs to be collected from the lobby as it is not allowed to your rooms (for safety reasons which was fine with us). The accessories in the restroom were good, towels were changed regularly on day to day basis only problem was mosquitoes so don't leave the doors open.

I would never, ever, ever recommend anyone to book this hotel. It’s honestly one of the worst decisions I’ve ever made in my life. I booked it for four nights for my honeymoon and specifically chose a room with a large bed. But when I arrived, I was shocked by how dirty and old everything was. The place is extremely outdated, and even the most basic things were missing — no smart TV, no modern air conditioning, no shaving kits, no toothbrushes, and no microwave.The hotel’s location is also terrible — the road has steep slopes, it’s hard to walk on, and taxi drivers struggle to reach it because the ground damages their cars every time they try. Most of the hotel isn’t even air-conditioned, including the lobby and hallways, and there are insects everywhere.But the biggest disappointment was when we entered our room. I had clearly informed them before booking that it was our honeymoon, yet they gave us two separate beds instead of one large bed. When I complained, their excuse was that there were no available rooms and that they’d move us to a better one the next day.The next day, when I went to the front desk, they told me, “You should have come at 9 a.m.; the room has already been taken,” even though I came at noon — the normal check-out time! Then they told me I’d have to wait another two days. So basically, I lost the first day and part of my honeymoon because of their mismanagement.When I tried to cancel the remaining nights, they said I could cancel, but they wouldn’t refund my money. Honestly, I still can’t believe how this place is rated as a four-star hotel. It’s absolutely terrible — terrible, terrible, terrible.

I loved everything about this hotel. The location was perfectly positioned just far away from the hustle of the main street and close enough to walk to the main strip and the beach. The staff was so kind. Always willing to help. The restaurant on-site was delicious.

Overall, the grounds and rooms are clean and well kept. Just need to dust the walls. The walls are textured, and upon close inspection, they were very dusty.

The hotel offers an amazing view, is clean, and provides great value for money. The staff were also very friendly.

The location is a 5 to 10-minute walk to restaurants, shops, and a 7/11.

The property is very good, affordable, and the breakfast buffet was very good.The room was very big, we had a family room with two double beds that are enough for us four. The beds were comfortable and big. The bathroom is big, shower and bath tub separate. IThe balcony and window view was amazing. The buffet breakfast is very good, the banana muffins at the hotel were amazing. Im glad they change the menu everyday and also the breakfast area has nice views. The staff were very helpful too.All the staff in the hotel were very kind and helpful!they have a shuttle going to karon beach. There is a nearby 7-11 if ur okay to walk a little bit. Also there is a nearby small shop near to the hotel, very little walking. We are traveling with kids and we managed to walk to all of this. There is also a temple nearby and they have a night market on tuesday and friday. We ate good street food and ice cream from there. Also souvenirs! We just walked going home and we were fine. The pool was very big and has enough sun bed. The view from the pool was amazing. And a small kiddie pool for the kids. I was a bit hesitant to book the hotel because of the reviews about the elevators and yes it will be an inconvenience that I hope they will fix especially peak season. But as a family type of traveler we still enjoyed the hotel. It’s worth it. We didnt have problems for our tour pickups and it was really quiet and relaxing the location and ambiance for the price paid.

The elevators were working except our last day, we asked for a buggy but no one came or it was too long to came we decided to just not wait for it. I think this will be a problem especially on peak season. We stayed here 5d4nights and only experienced it on the last day. They need to have more buggy or make sure it is almost always working because it’s really difficult especially if you get a room that is very high.
