    • Location and staff being accommodating.
    • Location very near station, many restaurants in the street & very crowded
    • we love everything about Hotel The May..the room was big and comfortable, my kids love the place..near to everything from subway stations to bus stations..staffs are friendly..

    Cons -

    • Dont clean room every day, only clean when requested
    • I have nothing negative to say, it was a great place to stay while in Seoul!
    • The hotel/room is a bit dated, there was some stains on the wall and in the bathroom. Also, found that a bit odd the bathroom is see through, not the greatest when traveling with friends . They provide free breakfasts depending on room type, unfortunately ours were not included

This hotel is in an amazing location, you can walk to so many fun and historical places nearby (Insadong, Cheonggyecheon, etc.) and there are infinite restaurant options right outside. The complimentary breakfast was great! Eggs, toast, fresh/ripe (delicious!) fruit, tea, cereal, etc. Better than your average continental hotel breakfast offerings for sure. We love our eggs so we were happy to have them there, freshly made, each morning! The staff was super helpful, kind and friendly. The shower was awesome, the sink was nice and big, and the room even had a fancy toilet. I loved the cold water bottle filler in the lobby, especially since Seoul was unseasonably warm while were there. They even have some vending machines if you need a toothbrush or whatever. We thought the price was super reasonable too. Glad my friend picked this little gem of a place and we were able to stay there also.

I have nothing negative to say, it was a great place to stay while in Seoul!

Love the location in a less touristy area, walkable to a bunch of sightseeing places. There're many food stalls close by plus lots of cute cafe and shops in the alleys and side streets. The room size is decent and only a couple of minutes from the metro station, super convenient. Reasonable priced for the location

The staff was very helpful. They changed our room on request as the room allotted to us did not have the door to the wash room..We requested and they changed the room.

The bath tub area is not enclosed and we felt very uncomfortable using it.

Excellent location- cannot be any better. Close to all tourist spots either via train or walk. Friendly staff Cosy rooms which reflect a 5 star hotel room.

Breakfast was decent- but would be better if pastries are added to the menu. Also, cheese, tomato and cucumber will be good. I get it’s a basic breakfast, but a few additions will make it so good. With its current situation it was ok as I did help me get through the morning. It was a bit loud when you open the windows- but so guess this is nothing to do with the hotel!

Location, cleanliness, room configuration, friendly staff, all great ?

Breakfast room downstairs doesn't feel welcomed particularly, but cannot expect too much for this good deal

the location of the hotel, near city and all sightseeing places.there are many restaurants near the hotel, walking distance from hotel to the main city in Seoul.time saver for short visit.

No daily cleaning provided from the hotel, toilet was in the open space no door and the bed was not that comfortable.the bed needs to change or provide the softer cushion.the choice of breakfast was too simple.

The location of hotel next to Jong-Gag metro and between Insadong and Ikseondong Hanok Village is great. Lots of caffe and small shops in the neighborhood and local night life - it is a must do experience.Reading old rewievs I was a bit sceptical about the stay and my expectation ware low. Well my stay was GREAT! The owner adresed and resolved all the major guests minuses. Reception staf speaks english and explain hotel cleaning policy and invites you to free brekfast in the morning. Cleaning is done only at guest request. Rooms are big for Seoul and clean. Bed is realy confortable and you get remotcontroler for everything, even flushing a toilet."Small" breakfast is experience on itst own. In the basement is a retro room with bigscreen TV playnig korean news and a "grendpa" serving you insant noodles, toast, boiled eggs, ... A brekfast as you would receive at you Korean grandparents house.

Bed and bath were good. Receptionists allowed me to leave my luggage there. Location is good.

Everything except bed and bath - is terrible. Dust everywhere. Stuff was not pleasant.

Liked how close it was to the subway station

The area is quite lively at night with lots of drinking groups walking around late into the night.

    5MaximPosted on: 5-5-2023

It’s close to a metro station and at the same time it's pretty quite.

Room is old and sometimes dirty. Bed linen with holes. In the room, there are two useless PC with so dirty keyboards.Breakfast is just instant ramen from 7-Eleven.

    staff were great

we booked family room, 1 double bed and 1 single bed with a kitchenette, we were given only 1 double bed. when queried reception, they said “it is only photo” not sure what it meant but quite disappointed

The May Hotel is a boutique hotel located in the historical district of Jongno. It’s only a few steps away from the hanbok village of Ikseondong, filled with many delicious restaurants and coffees, as well as diverse shops. The area is safe and extremely well connected with subway lines 1, 3 and 5 available right up the street. Lines 2 and 4 aren’t too far either. The famous Gwangjang food market within walking distance too. During the day the neighborhood is frequented by the elderly, but gets very lively at night (on the weekends it gets loud) with street food, tent bars and pochas. There are a few tourists (most coming back from or going to Ikseondong or Chandeokgung palace), but not as much as in other tourist-y areas like Myeongdong. You’ll be immersed in Korean culture. For breakfast I went to a small shop frequented by local grandpas (before the Twosome Place) that makes delicious lattes and milk teas. My room was clean, spacious and nicely decorated. They won’t enter your room for cleaning unless you ask at the desk, which I appreciated. Personnel was always pleasant, polite and as helpful as they could (special thanks to Mr Kim!), even if they don’t speak much English. You get free coffee, water, Netflix and fast wifi in every room. Bed is just right, not too soft or hard. There was both a shower and a bathtub. Water pressure was very good, although water could take some time to get hot. The toilet has a heating seat which was nice touch, but be careful of putting too much paper in it.

Not ideal for long stays. You’ll find no amenities such as gym, laundry, dining area or rooftop bar, so it can get complicated after a while. In the rooms there is barely any storage for personal effects. One important thing is, you pay at check in, not check out. For those reasons I think it’s more like a nice motel rather than a true hotel. The room I ended up with was spacious, luminous and very comfortable, however I had to insist. At first I was put in 2 rooms that were dark and smelled of tobacco. (Not sure how, since there are smoke detectors and smoking is forbidden). But Mr Kim was helpful and made sure that I was happy with my room.

    Bad

Waiting nearly an hour for check in as counter kept telling can't find my booking detail, booked family suite room but given normal double room. Information show there's one double bed, one single bed and living hall but given room with only one double bed. Poor attitude at counter, when I ask for the room differences, they replied if not suitable then you just cancel it. Breakfast as well don't provide.

Great location, few mins walk from metro exits with escalator/ stairs. Lots of eateries nearby. Washroom comes with bidet and separated bath with tub. Good shower amenities. Helpful and friendly front desk staff ? Thanks!

Tap was loose and shaky. Bed and pillows overly soft to our liking and felt like ‘sinking’. A lot of dust on the air conditioner outlet and certain common surfaces, temp unable to control thus quite hot. Room view facing wall of building beside.
