Sofitel Shanghai North Bund

Staff at door brilliant. Restaurant Brilliant but check in staff could be more friendly. They were formal which I suppose is in keeping with the hotel style. However I cant fault anything else.

The staff were very helpful specailly the head of the concierge....

Their breakfast is not international... Mostly focus on local food

The hotel is very new and clean. Bathroom is big and room is comfortable.

It is located in a region far from the subway station and there are no restaurants or shops around. Too close to many construction sites make it very noise.

The mirrors right out beside the bathroom. You see yourself when to go to the bathroom. I got myself scared to 100% awake when I got up to the bathroom in the middle of the night. But it probably only me…

Room is nice and clean.Hotel staff was very helpful and was able to assist us regarding our transport from Shanghai to Hangzhou by renting a van for us.

We booked through booking.com and arrived at the hotel with no available room. A hotel receptionist was even grumpy in explaining that they are fully booked. But the manager was able to assist but with additional room charge.

The hotel is gorgeous. Very clean and modern.

The breakfeast buffet could use a revamp. Also thestaff is not very attentive, as you would expect from that kind of hotel. And the location is not very great. About 15 min walk from the closest metro station.

There are no shelves in the wardrobe :( Clothes that can’t be hanged cannot be taken out of the suitcase.

The aircon was stuck at 27 degrees at night in winter. Apparently the central aircon can only spit out air at the temperature no matter the setting in the room. Had to switch off the aircon completely for few hours to get to a sleep-able temperature. The hot water temperature in the shower was inconsistent as well.

Unfortunately, my stay at this hotel was far from comfortable due to the air conditioning issues. The room was unbearably hot, and adjusting the temperature using the control panel made no difference.When we finally spoke to a technician, we were informed that the central cooling system for the entire hotel was turned off, making the in-room control panel completely useless.We requested a room change, hoping some rooms might be cooler. While the issue slightly improved in the new room, the overall problem persisted throughout the hotel.This lack of functionality caused significant discomfort, and there was no prior communication about the issue. A working air conditioning system is a basic expectation, and the hotel’s failure to provide it was disappointing.I would not recommend staying here until this problem is resolved.

Upkeep of the room and staffs were on the ball

The pillows were terrible, zero neck support ? I also understand that booking.com payment is not linked directly to the hotel, hopefully this can be fixed asap.

The hotel and staff was nice and very helpful. Buffet spread was good and bed is so comfy. Our room was huge too.

Location is nice but can’t walk to anywhere. There’s few food place around it only. Choices are limited. The TV has not English Channel at all with all the 75 channels. Considered it an international brand, would be nice to have one or two English channels besides CNN.

Very poor by Accor//Sofitel standards & quite unacceptable for the rates charged.The shower flooded.Very poor toiletries. No body lotions, cotton wipes, Q tips, cheap shampoo/conditioner.No bath salts or nothing to use in bath. No mini bar in room.Uncomfortable thin pillows.One of the poorest Sofitel experiences ever.

The hotel was beautiful, love the design, its interior. As you arrive you are greeted and taken cared of by their staff. From receptionist, front desk, concierge and all were attentive to our needs. The bedroom was pretty and clean, had all the basic stuff you need. Slept in comfort. Dined at the Japanese restaurant located in the same hotel which served good food plus, dined at the hotel restaurant where servers were very attentive, food was good too. Our flight was late in the evening and the staff was kind enough to extend our stay free of charge for late check out until 4pm. We highly recommend this hotel, such a great choice!
