The room air conditioner wasn't cool enough. We liked the rest of the hotel and room, however it was just too hot.

Couldn't get the room air conditioner to cool any less than 75 F. We tried and it was not working. We did love the rest of the property however.

A divine hotel with a unique charm. The rooms are spacious and thoughtfully equipped with everything you might need. Highly recommended for anyone looking to escape the hustle and bustle of city life.Staff is very polite

It’s a little oasis in the mission of old French concession, amidst the hustle and bustle of the city. It has beautiful gardens, windy paths, immaculate lawns, and buildings are an interesting mix of both somewhat western and classic Chinese style. The rooms are super clean, and ours have a little balcony that looks out to the cityscape. The photos on bookings.com definitely understated how big and beautiful the property is, which was a nice surprise when we arrived. It also has the breakfast buffet of royals with everything east and west you can think of. Location is perfect - away from the Bund crowd, in the middle of French concession, plenty of cute coffees and bars just nearby, about 10 minutes walk to the tube and very lively at night

Beautiful estate and garden, great location in the french concession.

Signs of wear and tear, renovation is needed especially in the bathroom and shower. The AC/heating is not working properly, the room was too warm, couldn't get it to the desired temperature.

The location, the surroundings, the staff, the meals, the garden, the buildings ... everything!The concierge staff was very kind, informative, and professional. The front desk staff was also very attentive and helpful.

- Room smelled like cigarette smoke and couldn’t be sufficiently ventilated. The window wasn’t too big and couldn’t be opened fully. Difficult to get rid of stuffy air.

Quiet location. Excellent breakfast and coffee.Very comfortable bed.

Staff is not speaking English language or speaks it really poor.There were a lot of fingerprints on doors and lockers - hygiene should be better. There were stains on curtains, too.

We have been looking for a suitable hotel for a long time and decided on the choice of this hotel. The hotel is magnificent. A large green area, inside which it is quiet and peaceful, you can relax from the hustle and bustle of the city. The staff is friendly, they always helped us at the reception, they upgraded the room category for free, which was much larger than the room we booked. Excellent location near a shopping center with boutiques and a metro station. A variety of breakfasts.

English proficiency of staff was modest. Concierge service was virtually nonexistent. This is absurd for a nominally 5-star hotel

Too dark in the garden at night.

The building and garden are nice, and some of the staff were trying to be helpful. The lady that cleaned my room had a great eye for detail; she was great.

The service overall was not good. I was upgraded to a different building, but then I was unable to use any of the facilities in the building. I needed to go to another building just to have a coffee, even though they had no one in their club. It was impossible to order room service because you needed a Chinese app. The internet was mostly not working. I could not do my check-out because the gent at the reception didn't speak English. I stayed at the Intercontinental as I thought it was geared up for international guests... but it was not! I was there to work, and the very least would be that the facilities work
