We liked everything about the property. We loved everything. The location, the smell, the staff, the decorations, the rooms, the cleanliness…everything was perfect.
We loved everything
Everything was perfect specially check in on the room and check out . Location perfect , helpful stuff
Extremely good location next to Najing Walk, metro station and the historic buildings. Very accessible to food and shopping. Also panoramic view of River Huangpu
Nothing to be honest. Everything beats our expectations
Location was exceptional. Breakfast was wonderful, and the dining staff was very attentive. The room was spacious, well-appointed, and well-laid out. The desk staff was always courteous and helpful.
The room smelled of smoke, and the front desk staff said that many of the rooms had a faint smoke odor. They did offer to send an ozonator to the room to try to lessen the smell. With the air-conditioner on medium or higher, it helped to mask the odor. The room cleaning staff did an OK job, just not at the level I would expect at a Peninsula hotel. Often, items were not restocked, and some days they provided turn-down service, others they did not. Nothing to keep me from staying here again. Just small details which could have been easily rectified.
My stay at The Peninsula Shanghai was truly exceptional. The hotel combines timeless elegance with modern comfort, offering stunning views of the Bund and Huangpu River. The rooms are beautifully designed, spacious, and equipped with thoughtful details that make the experience extra special. Service was outstanding, staff were warm, attentive, and always willing to go the extra mile. Dining was another highlight, with a fantastic food selection. The location is perfect for exploring both the historic and modern sides of Shanghai. A flawless experience from start to finish, I highly recommend The Peninsula Shanghai.
Location us fabolous, Rooftop Bar has best view in Shanghai and the indoor Pool/Spa was spectacular. Peninsula quality rooms
Breakfast in the Lobby (so the Lobby) is not a perfect location to eat (to much tables, to less space/no divider to entrance
Location
The room and especially wardrobe room extremely dark, huge and unnecessary! It took 22 steps from the bed to the toilet. Why?
The Peninsula Shanghai delivered an exceptional experience. The staff were courteous and highly professional, the facilities were elegant and well-kept, and the atmosphere throughout the hotel was calm and luxurious. The room was very comfortable and spotless, and the location was perfect for both business and leisure. I would definitely return on my next visit to Shanghai.
The only downside was the price of the suite, which was quite high in comparison to other room types. While the quality was superb, the pricing difference felt a bit too steep.
Location
I had high expectations for The Peninsula, but unfortunately, my stay fell far below what I anticipated from a luxury hotel. Upon check-in, I was surprised that there was no assistance or guidance to my room. I was simply told which floor to go to, and left to find the room on my own—no introduction to the room amenities, no explanation on how things work. For a hotel of this caliber, that level of service is unacceptable. The biggest letdown, however, was the concierge service. I had two unpleasant encounters. First, I asked for help with changing a luggage number tag for a new suitcase I purchased in Shanghai. Their response was blunt: “This is not a hotel purchase, so we can’t help you. Ask your guide instead.” It felt dismissive and unnecessarily rude.Second, when I called to ask what time I should leave for a 12:35 AM flight, they advised me to depart between 9:30 and 10:00 PM. However, when I tried to leave at that time, I was told there were no hotel cars available and that I was too late. The concierge offered to arrange a private car and quoted me 800 yuan. He claimed the trip would take 1.5 hours due to traffic, but I arrived in just 40 minutes. It felt like I was taken advantage of in a moment of urgency, which left a bad impression.Overall, these experiences made my stay feel frustrating rather than enjoyable. I expected more professionalism and honesty from a hotel with this reputation. Sadly, I don’t see myself returning in the future.
The Peninsula Hotel in Shanghai was truly amazing—everything from the service to the ambiance was wonderful and exceeded expectations. However, there was an issue with the air conditioning. I requested twice for it to be fixed, and while the staff did come to check it, the AC still wasn’t cooling properly, which affected the overall comfort of the stay.
Breakfast offers a wide variety of options. It is located near the Bund and is convenient to many places. The staff is friendly, polite, and helpful. Additionally, there is a beautiful swimming pool.
Nil
Everything is good apart from some of the staff members. It is a huge place, so I didn’t feel like i was valued as a guest, it felt a bit like they didn’t need or appreciate my business because it is the peninsula and they will always have plenty of people to stay regardless of their service level. Location is great, room is comfy
Just everything! The old class feeling and service. Certain items like the pers al fax machine and also the private butler messaging closet may feel a bit outdated, but they are part of its timeless charm. A special thanks to Leo the head concierge.
Location of the hotel was perfect as it overlooks The Bund and in the heart of Shanghai city..the staff were very friendly and helpful.. the rooms were spacious and comfortable..the bathroom was nice ..
Superb location on The Bund with a fantastic view.
Breakfast, delivery of coffee / juice was slow. The layout is somewhat tight as the food was placed in the center of the hall surrounded by a few tables. Line-up direction is a bit confusing. Afterall, the ambience during breakfast doesn't quite match with the hotel's positioning. Otherwise, the food quality is good though staff needs more training to the compatible standard.
Incredible staff & bathroom! Stayed for my birthday & received a treat in the room, and well wishes!
Nothing! It was perfect!
Very good
Not enough humid. The skin suffer.Bed mattress was too soft.
