Grand Mercure Shanghai Hongqiao

Choose this hotel if you want to experience Shanghai away from the touristy areas . The locality was excellent with super friendly people . Hotel comes with a balcony , not so common in Shanghai . People are good .

Facilities like gym could have been better for this price . You may not get excited in this property , but it will not be a disappointment .

Breakfast buffet.

No access to the balcony in the room. Furniture outdated. Washing machine was broken but got replaced after complaining.

Staff was helpful and ready to serve all the time.

The internet connection, in fact, it barely allowed to check the websites. No swimming pool.

The room was spacious, providing plenty of room to relax, and the bed was very comfortable, ensuring a good night's sleep. Overall, a pleasant and comfortable experience!"

While the room was comfortable, we couldn't make use of the coffee provided as there was no milk in the room. Additionally, I would have appreciated having bedside tables on both sides of the bed, rather than just one.

1) The room balcony was locked and the balcony door was clearly bad maintained with plenty of dust and stains on it. Yuck! 2) The shower curtain did not work and the bathroom floor was flooded after a quick shower. 3) At the check out, even though I was prepared to pay the stay in local currency RMB ¥701 in cash or $98, I was asked to pay my stay in full in U.S. dollars with my credit card. The rationale the receptionist gave was that since I gave the hotel my credit card deposit when I checked in, it's easy for the hotel to return the balance of this security. At the end, I was overcharged $9 or RMB ¥64 for the convenience I did not want at all because of the grossly inflated currency conversion fee! The hotel misled and thus cheated on currency conversion fee to take advantage of misinformed traveler!

All the family suffer from the bugs in the beds. They are not clean I had to go to the hospital with serious bite and pain

The room is very clean and large.It is equipped washlet, too.It is very good for Japanese.

Tasty breakfast - European, Japanese and Chinese style, good access to metro line 2, close to Hongqiao railway station and airport.

Noisy construction nearby hotel also nightime.

room was very good and suitable for a long term stay. Balcony. Breakfast was ok. I would stay here again but be more savvy about how they do things, the next time.

location not easy to.reach. metro.is quite far. check in was not made clear regarding the way the room fee and deposit are charged. Breakfast had too many workers constantly checking around. The bathroom.shower apparatus was tricky.

quiet, the balcony, breakfast good. TV had good choice of western / english language channels.

not sure the genius room upgrade I was supposed to get was applied...room was the standard one. be advised the need to be very clear on checking into this hotel.(last time 4 weeks ago I was overcharged too).

Reception person seem hectic, partly ignoring, booking credit card without clarifying currency first...

1. It's more like a motel. Facilities are too old and urgently need upgrade.2. The room we stayed in, carpet was dirty and not cleaned during our entire stay. Toilet tank leaks and produces constant dropping noise. Shower curtain smells. The small balcany we didn't have access to hasn't been cleaned for ever. It felt depressing to stay in the room.3. Location. 1.5 km from subway line 2 and 1.5 km from line 12, right in the middle. Not great if you have walked all day.4. We had high hopes and booked for 2 weeks (prepayment with no refund). In highsight, it was a mistake.

Room balcony is a very good feature - will not be stuck indoors all the time. Hotel location is good, convenient and with amenities. Room - good size and clean, bed is comfortable enough. Aircon, lights, shower etc functioned wellBreakfast - food spread and quality were good.

In one of the rooms I stayed, the balcony door cannot be closed properly, cannot stay shut. Some power outlets are not working.

Everything is clean, good location, easy check in and out. Great help from Ms. Huang from customer service center because we had an early arrival flight.

A big and modern hotel, located in a quite central area. There are many restaurants and other facilities in place, able to satisfy each taste. The room was big and well organised, with a small kitchen inside it as well. The breakfast was fresh and daily made, including both sweeties as well as salties (no problems for who is used to have a sweet breakfast).

The pillow were a little bit uncomfortable but, it is not a huge problem. The Wi-fi, sometimes, had problems of connecting to the browser.

The hotel was in a good location for my stay. It was also fairly close to the metro for getting around Shanghai. There are several malls nearby to get lunch and dinner. I loved that it had a washing machine in the room, so got some laundry done.

The hotel is dated and needs a refresh. This was a multi-destination trip to China and this was the worst hotel I stayed in for quality. However it was clean and tidy, The shower needed to have the lime scale removed to make it more user friendly.
