Cons -
- almost everything was a disappointment except the friendly and efficient staff; rooms were too old and the carpet held old stains. We tried to use the area by the lobby to eat but the chairs has a strong not good odor and had butt imprints. it was expensive compared to another i stayed at but the value you get is low quality. it felt like it was on its last leg before a much needed major refurbishment. I will not recommend.
- Rooms was not nice Very hot in rooms , no aircons could not sleep during our stay
- Dirty bathrooms, bad smell in corridors, poor in room facilities

The location near the train station is good as I had a train in the morning and i could walk. The sheets were clean.
The reception barely speaks english which is a big downside. Also, the furniture is old and not well maintained.
Although the location was quite far from the city center, it still saved us a lot of money even when we mostly took DiDi rides. The hotel itself was old upon looking at its interior, it still was clean and comfortable to sleep in. Nearby restaurants, milk tea places, and a C-Store. Beds were comfortable. The only downside during our stay were the staff (or I think only because it's their personality to not be as friendly and accommodating as hotel staff in the Philippines). No help was offered to help bring our luggages in our room, but we didn't mind it at first. What I was shocked about is how I called for a bell boy during check-out and they said "ok", but upon going down to ask again they just let me take the trolley to bring up to our room and transport the luggages down ourselves. Only the housekeeping staff were only the people greeting and smiling at us.
Convenient and making life easier to travel to everywhere in Shanghai specially by MERTO
restaurants around the hotel with delicious foods that we liked very much
Location to the Shanghai train station. Nice eateries surrounding the station. Lots exits from metro. 2 kinds of tea at the lobby. A nice welcome drink as you return each day
The hotel is at Shanghai train South Exits. The long distance bus will terminate at Shanghai train North Exits. This will mean extra walk of another 500m to the hotel via metro underpass.
Location and attitude of staff
Pillow used was so firm, couldn’t sleep well
Location, near to metro and railway station
Lack of communication, staff was unable to understand what we wanted ( example plates, spoon) - No EnglishAlthough it was cool outside, but still the room was quite warm and there was no option of an AC
5 minute walk to the train station so very convenient for next day travel.
There was no air conditioning in my room so it was uncomfortably hot, even in December.
Good location and price
Hotel is old, can see signs of wear and tear, most of the facilities don't seem to be open and available as well
Location is very convenient. A very short distance from Shanghai Railway Station and a shopping mall. Room was clean. Seems like the facilities are good but didn’t have the time to explore. Easy to check in and out.
Bed was a little hard but was pleasant enough. The ventilation or A/C was a bit loud. Couldn’t figure out how to turn it off. Interior seemed slightly dated.
Near by food court and railway station
Surprise During booking paid and check-in paid again
Location is Great if you need to take train next morning, otjerwise moove on there are so many much better hôtels in Shanghai
Rooms, comon areas are incredibly outdated and dirty
Good location near train station
rooms smell of cigarettes, clearly the non-smoking policy is not enforced very well.Rooms are dirty with hairs everywhere and the carpets are awful with sigarette smell.Power outlets dont work very good.Wi-fi is non existent, you can connect but there is no internet. Was like this for 3 days straight without acces to internet.Staff speaks reasonable English.
Hotel allowed check out extension due to typhoon condition in Shanghai, receptionist Emily Yu was helpful
Guests smoke in the hotel, hotel interior looks old, borrowing umbrella required RMB 100 refundable deposit which other hotels provides free in the room
Rooms are spacious and soundproof. Staff can speak English but very limited. The location is very convenient for metro and train users. The hotel locates near Exit 6 of Shanghai Railway Station, but the elevator to approach ground level is inside another building (with instruction) but you have to talk with the metro staff for assistance.
There is no minibar/fridge though there are plenty of spaces.
Just how clean and presentable the hotel was. Loved the bar and the breakfast
Bathroom needs a freshen up
The location near the railway station was convenient. The TV worked. The staff was friendly.
There were huge, finger-sized cockroaches in the room, and it smelled terribly bad. These are the two reasons I could not sleep the whole night. The armchair was stained.
Not recommended if you don’t smoke
Smell of cigarettes throughout the hotel even though I booked non smoking room but smell of nicotine so strong and so uncomfortable to sleep through the night. Old scruffy hall way , door and furnitures . Breakfast was not much option however staffs were good.
