Ocean Hotel Guangzhou

Within walking distance (about 8-10 mins) to Taojin MRT Station. Walking distance to 7-11, traditional dim sum restaurant Dian Du De, Pizza Hut and KFC, so there are very nice option for food choices. Safe environment for family stay. Clean and spacious lobby. We booked 2 family rooms. Overall it was still a pleasant stay as the staff are very friendly and helpful.

We were greeted with very strong cigarette smell when we entered our first family room which was very disappointing despite stating preference for non-smoking room. The staff changed it but still there were inconveniences during the initial check-in. The 2nd family room is a lot smaller. Then we realised not all family rooms come in the same room size. Pillows are very soft and beds are a bit tough. Our shower area is a bathtub. Water drainage is very slow from the bathtub which often ended up with feet soaked in dirty water.

The room was perfect, the breakfast was perfect, and the location is near the metro. However, there was an issue with the staff. I reserved 3 nights for 3 people on Booking.com, but I paid at the property. I stayed for two nights, and the other two people stayed in the room. When I asked the receptionist to refund my right amount, she said she couldn’t because the reservation was made on Booking.com, even though I paid at the property

I had a very pleasant stay at Rate Ocean Hotel Guangzhou. The staff are incredibly friendly, and I want to highlight the excellent service in the lobby—especially from Zhang Jin, who was always ready to help with anything I needed. The hotel is very clean, and the housekeeping team does a great job with daily cleaning.During the Canton Fair, the free shuttle bus service was extremely convenient and comfortable, making the whole experience much easier. The location is also very good, with many restaurants and shops nearby, which made getting meals and exploring the area very simple.

The only thing I missed was the self-service laundry that was available last year. I hope the hotel can bring this back soon, as it’s a very helpful option for guests staying several days.

Everything was amazing, the location, staff, cleanliness, and concierge system. My room was smart and renovated.

Some rooms were old and not renovated yet; however, the toilet base was equipped with an automatic self-cleaning bidet for personal hygiene, which was very important for me as a Muslim.it would be better if the breakfast had a more international choice, even some kinds of cheese. Almost there, no wardrobe.

The location was a short walk from the Taojin Line 5 metro station making it convenient to get around quickly to many places of interest.There are restaurants and shops right next to the hotel and also within walking distance on a very busy street with various choices.The breakfast was very good with a variety of foods to choose from. Kudos to the chef! The dining area is on the 27th floor overlooking the city landscape. It is bright and cheerful.Housekeeping always arrived while I was having breakfast. My room was thoroughly cleaned every day, water and coffee replenished. Exceptional Housekeeping staff!The Front Desk was businesslike and accommodating when I asked a question. English was somewhat limited but we communicated enough to understand each other.The Ocean Hotel is definitely worth staying at. I enjoyed my four days there very much!

The first morning I went for breakfast a staff member told me to sit in the back room away from the nicer dining room area where the Chinese guests were seated. I said no and sat in the main dining area. The next day the staff member told me the main dining area was reserved and I was to sit in the back room area. Again I said no. Not sure why international guests are directed to have breakfast in a back room.

Fire at property-was unable to stay. No communication from hotel before I arrived after a 12hr flight.

there was fire in the hotel; the hotel was fully evacuated and currently out of use. fire alarms on floors didnt work to inform people. alarm was only active at hotel’s exit floor. we heard it while firefighters take us outside.

The reception and room hotel staff barely speaks English. The room was cleaned every day. Fresh water was replenished. There are many places around to eat, but the hotel' breakfast was really good and worth the money paid. A short walk from the metro station Ouzhuang.

A little far from metro, and there is no way for crossing the road at traffic light, have to go up to the bridge about more than 50 steps especially with carring luggages. Otherwise, it's okay to stay.

Rooms were spacious. Housekeeping was excellent.

We booked 2 rooms -- a 3-bedder and a 2-bedder. The 2-bedder had no door between the bed and toilet, which was odd.

The hotel staffs offered warm hospitality and welcoming, the location is very convenient and there are water, tea and candies provided for free.

Spacious and clean rooms with good amenities. The gym and laundry room facilities were fantastic.

Although near enough to 2 metro stations, the walk, especially to Ouzhuang which is an interchange station of 2 lines which is used more often, involves crossing a number of roads and this can be annoying with all the unwieldy motorcyclists cross- crossing you even when it was green light for pedestrians. Guess that’s not hotel’s problem but the culture of the motorcyclists and cyclists in Guangzhou and China which is most annoying.
