    Pros +

    • Big rooms, Close to city centre Quiet location
    • The room was large.
    • Location, quiet room add requested

    Cons -

    • It was a bit tired looking. Needs an update.
    • The flashing clock radio in the bed head that couldn't be turned off. I had to sleep in the single bed. Hard pillows. Awful fluorescent lamps and hard lights without shades
    • The cupboards, carpet and curtains reeked of old and dusty smell.

Fun room in a historical building. We stayed in room “B”. It was a large room with very retro decor- but retro in a fun way. Fridge, toaster, hot water pot. Free parking. We walked thirty minutes to Salamanca market.

Everything was good, comfortable, reasonable price. Staff gave us out keys and pointed out where our room was. Nothing to complain about.

Easy check-in after hours; I had a question so called the number and someone was available to answer which was nice. Staff are very friendly.

    Liked the location and staff

The cupboards, carpet and curtains reeked of old and dusty smell.

Cool place, comfortable and spacious rooms which look very antique. Felt like I stayed at my grandam's house. Loved it

Loved the friendliness of the staff; Free parking was so appreciated; Comfy bed and clean, quality linen; Lots of hot water and fluffy towels. Warm & Cosy. Coffee & Tea making facilities and bonus bikkies! Thank you!

The decor could do with being updated!

When the staff discovered we had booked for three separate beds, they quickly resolved it and moved another temporary bed into the room.Free parking was appreciated.

Room was pretty tired, old fashioned (faded axminster carpet). Two of our guests were 6ft 3-4in, so found the beds a bit uncomfortable / short.A bit out of Hobart central, and with the steep hills, not realistically walking distance.

The room was very big and clean. Super comfy bed and nice bathroom/shower.

The space in Room B was fantastic. The room had character, and it was very quiet. I LOVED the extra space. $8 UBER trip to the Salamanca markets which was great. close to city.

There was no staff that spoke English available until 12. We were not told we had to leave the notice on the door for our rooms to be serviced, so we had to go and ask for fresh towels. Staff could have told us internet details on booking in to save us having to go to the office to ask. the bedspread on the queen bed was stained. Parking spaces were really small and hard to get in to with a big car, but it was possible to park out in the street.

    Great reception staff

Not clean. Had to ask for them to bring us fresh bedding. Would not recommend

The view, the spacious room, and its facilities including bathtub.

    5RobynPosted on: 4-25-2025

The bed was comfortable but there was an obvious amount of dust built up behind the bed. Made obvious when the overhead light was on.

The spa didn't work. The pressure controls were broken. The bedside lamp was broken. The carpets were old and stained. No plates provided for use with microwave and toaster.

The location, price and clean facilities

The room had very poor lighting, eg for reading and general functions. The WiFi was intermittent and frustrating.

    8MareePosted on: 4-23-2025

Good position with car parking. This has not been my first visit. Very handy to where I wanted to go.

    Good location, friendly staff, tidy

Our original room had a damp unpleasant smell, we let it air out while out and about but was still there upon returning. It was after hours but a lovely staff member still came out to see me and allowed us to inspect a new room before relocating us which was all we hoped for. The rooms were old and very basic but had everything we needed. They were clean and free from dust etc. even the damp smelling one looked maintained.

A classic gorgeous quirky decor, furniture and fittings from a bygone era. Needs some remodelling/ redecorating such as peeling wallpaper but I sense they will work on this over time. The bed was super comfy, the sheets hotel quality and the room very spacious with lots of storage. There was a spa bath but I didn’t try it. The shower was hot and good pressure but spraying water . I had to ask for wine glasses and milk via messages on booking.com as reception has quite limited hours so arrived next day. Parking tight if hotel full but it’s free and there’s a nice view. Quick drive to everything. Heating is poor - cheap electric heater didn’t do much in such a big room so would be uncomfortable mid winter and electric blanket on only one side of the bed. No sharp knife in kitchen ( why is this so common?) and fridge didn’t work very well ( our freezer packs were liquid in the freezer). Great value for money, all being said and close to everything. I would def come back but bring a knife, a wheat bag and check you’ve got basic needs before reception closes.
