    Pros +

    • Fantastic conditions, bit of privacy with the arrangement of the beds, clean bathroom, lovely staff, great location
    • Everything was alright, all the staff are very nice and kind. Special thanks to Jennifer from front desk, she answered all my questions and was very helpful :)
    • I had a great stay at Bunk Hostel in Surfers Paradise. When I checked in, I was warmly welcomed by lovely Jen, “Jen the German,” and everything went smoothly and hassle-free. She gave me some really good tips on what to do in Surfers that I didn’t even know about — and this is already my third time here! The rooms were clean and spacious, and the location is super central, which made everything really convenient. Whenever I had questions, I could always go to Jen or the other friendly staff, who were all very helpful.I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to others.

    Cons -

    • No towels, body wash/shampoo/conditioner, hand towels or bath mats. A bit loud at night - compromise to being close to everything. The elevator sitch is a bit annoying but they have stairs. Kitchen has everything you need - no freezers though?
    • Access to kitchen and the lift at bunk side can be improved.
    • In my room was not WiFi at all.In balcony is needed something to hang the clothes after we wash our swimming suit or our things.

The location can’t be better than this place I got the room that is with tv like living room and was amazing big balcony comfortable beds. Near to everything the beach restaurants and nightlife.

In my room was not WiFi at all.In balcony is needed something to hang the clothes after we wash our swimming suit or our things.

Clean, good location, 25% off food and drink at goldies, nice pool, spacious rooms

Good location in surfers paradise very close to cavil ave station. Very easy to get around from the station using the tram. The pool and spa are nice additions. The rooms were very clean. Able to use your Netflix account on the TV. We stayed in a private room at an affordable price.

Housekeeping don't refresh towels. We were told by three receptionists different things on how to get new clean towels which resulted in a mess around and not getting new towels for 3 days. After the third attempt with the third receptionist we ended up getting clean towels. You are also not allowed to eat in the rooms - something that wasn't stated on the policy (it is just stated on a card you recieve at check-in) so don't expect to be able to enjoy a meal in your room after a long day of exploring the city. The outdoor walkway between the rooms and the laundry on level 2 gets flooded very easily as there's no drainage. Lower floors can get very loud as there's a few restaurants and the tram goes by every 10 minutes but nothing that ear plugs can't fix.

I loved everything. The reception staff gave me a fantastic welcome and explained everything clearly. The room was incredible—super spacious, comfortable, and clean.

    Location

I was very upset cause before booking the hostel I asked if they had parking and they told me I could park on the street. I've never been to Gold Coast before, and when I arrived and ask the girl on the reception she told me laughing that I can Park in the street 'wherever I found a spot'. So, this hostel was the most expensive one I pay over my roadtrip, and on top of that I had to pay a parking lot every time I needed to park my car. Take this in consideración cause the bed was like $80, plus $20 every time I had to re enter the parking lot (cause you pay every time you leave with your car the car park, you have to pay again). Also, the hostel was very loud to sleep, people partying in rooms, so take this in consideration if you are a light sleeper

Walkable distant to the beach and many restaurants.

Bad sound proof, you can hear the sound from outside. They don’t provide mat and towel.

    8ZhaviaPosted on: 12-25-2025

The bed layout gives so much privacy, there is aircon and blankets, the showers are nice too.

The lift is very confusing and takes forever, if you don’t have bags use the stairs

    Beds were comfortable/fine

We checked in after the room had been ‘cleaned’ (it hadn’t). Bathroom smelled like a public toilet, we had a dirty floor towel and a leftover towel from another guest with red stains left in the bathroom. Dirty pizza box, mugs and old wine bottles from previous room left in the room after ‘cleaning’. Felt safe and was fine for a roof over our head for a night but wouldn’t recommend especially for the price!

Location stop at Cavil Avenue tram station walk 1 min, good wifi , big kitchen

Charge for towel 10$ AUD not a deposit just bring your own towel, checkin-out so slow and rude receptionist 1 toilet+shower inside the dorm room so you have to wait at least half an hour to use.

Good location, discount at the bar/restaurant next door. They can store your bags for you prior to check in.

Very dirty and run down place, seems to be an ongoing issue. Ended up leaving after one night and getting a refund for my second night. They don’t have any social events or anything so probably not the best place if you’re looking to meet people. Lockers are provided and assigned at check in but all 4 lockers in the room were full when I arrived.

    - Spacious room

    - Asking guests to remove the bedsheets, etc. before checking out. That is your job. We did not want to see all the stains on the doona and the mattress, thanks.- No Wifi

    6HelenaPosted on: 11-16-2025

    Very central to everything

I think the rooms especially the mattress the lower bunks and windows also from the inside need some general cleaning. I found it very dirty

    5HarrietPosted on: 10-31-2025

Bunk is in the perfect location for surfers beach and the main shops and nightlife however is quiet at night when you want to sleep. The actual facilities were good and as you would expect for a hostel however it was not clean. The chill out areas were great with a lovely pool and sofas to relax in.

The 8-bed dorms are very dark and feel confined due to the layout of the beds. It makes it private however too dark. The bathroom and kitchen were not clean at all and despite the warnings of fines, barely anyone cleared up after themselves which left it all very dirty.

The hostel is in a great location for anyone wanting to be right in the heart of Surfer's Paradise. It's also right next to the bus terminal, which was great for me. The room was pretty spacious, with enough room for luggage, plus decent sized storage lockers for backpacks. The bed was comfortable and the en suite bathroom in the 4 bed dorm I'd booked was really convenient. I also had a laundry room right next door, which was useful.

It's pretty basic and fit for purpose, so no major gripes really, as it's what I expected. There were a couple of factors that negatively impacted my stay that weren't necessarily down to the hostel itself, or at least not entirely, but it was generally pretty comfortable and affordable.
