Location was good. Factilities looked reasonable

The private room's shared bathroom was interesting. If the other room locked your side, you couldn't get in to use it. You didn't actually know if someone was using it if the other room didn't unlock your side.

    Good location

Very dirty. No air con. Very uncomfortable bedding. Noisy neighbours all day / night. Decor was very dull and old felt dark / dingy. Needs modernising. Shower head too low (bad for tall people). Windows not operating properly. Cushions stained. Mouldy shower curtain. Light bulbs broken.

I liked the room size of the double room. The pool was very relaxing. It was a short walk from the tram stop. The hostel bar is nice.

I'm not sure if this was an issue with Booking.com but I was unable to see images of the room whilst booking. Regardless, the room was excellent.

    Pool and social areas

Bathroom wasn’t the cleanest, the bar shut early even though no alcohol was allowed on the property

    9EmilyPosted on: 2-16-2026

Great location. Nice clean room. Good shower and toilet never had to wait for it to be free. Bar and cafe at the hostel, very social.

It was really noisy on Saturday night with people in the courtyard into the early hours so was quite hard to sleep. Walls very thin.

The staff and location are very good, and there is a shared kitchen

The bed and pillow are not very good

    3RobynPosted on: 2-15-2026

    Bed was comfortable

The kitchen was dirty, dishes and dirt water up to the top of the sink, birds flying in while I’m cooking, flies everywhere, bins full of food . The noise from the dorm, felt like I was outside in the bar from my room.

    Pleasant

Asked to pay to upgrade the room we had already booked and paid for on arrival and we’re charged a lot more than the room costed online. Private room was very expensive for a hostel, would’ve been cheaper to stay in a hotel with actual facilities. Towels in the room were still wet, alongside the floor having puddles all over it.

The location itself is decent, as it's less than a ten minute walk to the nearest tram station, and close to all the action around Surfer's. The pool itself is a nice feature also. One member of staff's attempt to compensate for the extremely difficult stay I had been having was unexpected though much appreciated. Thank you, Isabelle.

If you are opting to stay in Gold Coast, particularly on a longer-term basis, please avoid this hostel. A single night might have been tolerable, but I was already counting down the days until I could check out the one week I had booked there. I have stayed in numerous hostels across North America, Europe and Asia, yet this was the most disorganised, dissatisfactory hostel stay I've had. Budget accommodation does not justify nor excuse poor service. There were multiple occasions when I visited the desk during standard operational hours, and had to deliberately look for staff to get their assistance. Then once I received the response, "I don't know what to say," this certainly did not assuage the concerns I had expressed. Moreover, having specific beds allocated per guest only works well if issued correctly within an already-uncomfortable, cramped dorm. However, there seems to be a great deal of inconsistency and miscommunication affecting internal operations. From check-in, I was allegedly given the incorrect bed, and when I had requested to move, this was granted except not actioned correctly on their system, which meant I was displaced to another bed and almost moved once again had I not disputed this. The kitchen facilities themselves were appalling; given the narrow, limited space, this discouraged attempts to prepare my own food most of the time, which was rendered even more challenging where you had to exchange your ID everytime you wanted to borrow any utensils. I understand the principle here; it is a shame the hostel had to resort to these means to retain their property, though this does not make it any better. The worst is the amount of flies around, which I realise is not entirely their fault, though if cleanliness standards were better maintained, I believe this should reduce the sheer number that makes it near-impossible to cook or eat without having them in your food.

Friendly staff and cool hostel with an outdoor area. enjoyed it here

    4LisaPosted on: 2-10-2026

Alright location, close to the main strip. Though felt a bit run down.

The facilities, no locks for the lockers, beds quite uncomfortable.

    2FernandaPosted on: 2-7-2026

    Just the location.

Our private room was dirty and smelled really gross when we checked in. No one cleaned properly. They need to hire someone for the cleaning in the hostel because the people cleaning in there are just not experienced. A lot of noise at night and people smoking weed. Felt like camping in that room

    7OrtizPosted on: 2-2-2026

We liked that it is clean, excellent food at a very good price close to the centre

The room was super hot although there was ventilation it was quite hot it was not very comfortable that's why

It’s very come to the city and the beaches. There is good coffee and even breakfast for a fair price. The staff is very nice and always helpful. Perfekt for a stay at the golden cost.

It’s a great location, with most friendly staff - the common areas are great for meeting people and I thoroughly enjoy the social aspect of the property.

We stayed in a private room - it’s a bit run down, there was no remotes for the ceiling fans and the airconditioner wasn’t the best - I think the worst thing of all was the rat droppings in the cupboard, and in the pots and pans.
