Pros +
- Right across the street from the train station & the "mini metro" up to Centro storico
- Located close to Train a Station and Minimetro so it was centrally located. Also every morning the was a great continental breakfast
- This hotel is conveniently located across the street from the train station and just next to the train station there is the wonderful mini metro that transports you up, up, up to the old historic center. So the location is ideal for those travelling by train. The reception was welcoming and helpful. The room was quiet and clean, plenty big, and had a comfortable bed. Breakfast was minimal but adequate, and there is a bakery and a minimarket next door.
Cons -
- Small room (single).
- no complaints
- Cold room, no heat, rusty bathroom, could not take a shower.

Location

The facilities and service were great especially for the price. The mini metro takes you right to the top no need to hike. The hotel is close to the stations and buses, a convenience.
No problems.
We stayed at this property for one night and it was really ok. The location is convenient- right across from the main train station, near the major bus stop and mini-metro. Yes the property is a bit dated but our room was very clean, tidy and a good size for the four of us. The a/c worked well. Reception allowed us to store bags prior to our check in which was super helpful. We left early so did not have the breakfast. A basic but clean and convenient spot. I would stay there again if we passed through Perugia.
The shower did not drain well. We were there during the jazz festival so it may have been more expensive than usual. I felt it was a bit more expensive than it should have been.
Close to the Perugia train station. Friendly staff A/C worked good.
Bathroom shower stall was tiny, the corners of the showy floor were covered with black fungus. The bottom of the cheap shower curtain was dirty. I was afraid of taking a shower after being exposed to 93F summer heat. I didn’t want to be exposed to fungus. I’d ask some reimbursement.
If you are travelling to Perugia on a budget, this is a great choice of accomodation! The location of the hotel, as a base for visiting Perugia and the region, is fantastic - 3 min to the minimetro (which in itself is so much fun), taxi stand and a train station right across the street (for travels to Assisi, Spoleto), minimarket and pharmacy dowstairs. The hotel is clean and has all you may need, though of course relative to the price and being a two star facility. The Staff is wonderful (at the 24/7 reception), very helpful. I can recommend Astor for sure!
The breakfast had only sweet treats but overall it was still fresh and tasty - but it's a matter of preference.
it was literally one step from the train station in Perugia. to get to the old city , one has to take the mini metro, which is an elevated small train service. Hotel staff is friendly and responsive to guest's questions
bathroom shower needs some thorough cleanup
Good location close to train station and Minimetro. Older hotel but room was very clean. Reception 24/7. Stuff was very kind.
Location directly opposite train station and close to local bus station and also airport link bus (red) and the 'mini metro' link to town centre. Reception did provide hot water and cups to make tea.Perugia is delightful, a never delightful views of and from the historic town centre, one wonders how it has survived the centuries so we'll.
Hotel was tired and dated, light fitting by bed broken, shower door fittings defective, bathroom needs TLC. Room had a balcony which needs cleaning. View onto a roadway and office buildings. Generally the price of the room was excessive - we had rooms with breakfast included in other hilltowns for half the price of the Astor.
It was easy to find and the people working there were nice enough.
On arrival my room smelled like someone had been smoking in there and when I lifted the toilet lid, there was a cigarette butt floating in it. They couldn't offer me anything else when I asked. When I opened the window to air it out, I unfortunately started coughing as it was letting dust in. The sink had it's drainage hole stuffed with paper for some reason and there were multiple spaces in both the hotel as a whole and my room with holes in the walls (and live wires in my colleague's room). Overall the hotel is just in a very bad state and deteriorating fast. It needs proper renovation, but once I mentioned this to others at the annual conference I was at I heard that many have stayed there throughout the years and nothing has improved.
If you are looking for a hotel just for a couple of nights but not for holidays, this is a good choice. Good location close to the railway.
Facilities old and not comfortable
The closeness to the train station
Bedroom was freezing cold despite the heater being on and had to sleep with a ski jacket on. Shower didn’t drain. Towels weren’t changed despite being left on the floor and wet. Staff weren’t helpful when I injured myself. I felt so unsafe in the area. There was consistent banging that was impossible to sleep through for both nights. The breakfast was so limited and was left and served the next day. It was not fresh. Internet was really bad.
The Hotel Astor is well-located for visiting old-town Perugia. It is in front of the train station, at the bottom of the huge hill where Perugia sits. There is a dependable mini-metro that functions from 7:30 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. daily to take tourists and others up the hill. The rooms are kept clean and the hotel staff is personable. We stayed there twice - once at the beginning of our trip, and once at the end.
The facilities are a little run-down in some respects. For example, the sinks in the bathrooms (we were there twice, in two rooms, and it was true in both) don't have a stopper. This allows a strong stink from the plumbing to permeate the room. However, this was easily solved by stuffing a washcloth into the drain when the sink was not in use. It stopped the stench.
Big hotel in quite old/retro style of 80s-90s, right next to the train station and with non stop reception, so ideal (or only one solution) for travellers, who come with a late train. Station of a “metro/cable lift”, which takes you easily and cheap into the city center, was also close. And very good café with lot of local sweets is nearby (on the way to the station Case Bruciate). It was one of the few accommodations with one-bed rooms, which is nice. It was very tiny, but there was everything needed – table with chair, working AC, bathroom.
The window was onto busy street with lot of noise, so I had to use the AC instead of leaving it open whole night, which would be more pleasant. Blankets without buttons, so I had to use my safety pins (that’s not good for such high-level hotel – so one point less from me). Someone came during day and made the bed into original appearance (fortunately they left there my safety pins) – why if I was there only 2 nights? I left the room a bit messy and I don’t want someone to see it or even to clean it instead of me.
Bed was very comfortable, and the linens were immaculate. The bathroom was pristine, and desk staff excellent.Immediately across from the train station.
Friendly staff. Near train station. Clean and reasonable prices
The people loitering outside.
We chose the hotel for its proximity to the train station on our last night of the holiday. It was easy to get a taxi to the historic centre of Perugia , which was wonderful.
The room was rather dark and gloomy but we didn’t plan to spend much time there.
Proximity to train station. Clean and comfortable.
