Palheiro Village- Villas & Apartments

Absolutely amazing view. Not far from the airport, close to Funchal. Nice resort.

The accommodation was not checked. Light bulbs were missing, no warm water, pool water was not checked, the drain was clogged, and some other little issues.

Lovely location; beautiful homes and so spacious and comfortable.

Wish there were oil and basic seasonings (salt and pepper) in the kitchen but the grocery store is very close by so was not a big problem at all!

Really spacious, good location and very quiet. The apartment had everything you would need and would be a great place to spend an extended stay.

The view from the apartment was wonderful, especially to watch the sunset on the balcony. The quality of the meals and view from the Golf Course restaurant was amazing!

The resort felt dated, the gym was tiny and a long way away from the accommodation which was disappointing- the pool here was dry. The games room was old too. The apartment was a good size but there was no tea or coffee or washing sachets provided or shampoo etc which for accommodation of this price you would expect. The maids turned up unexpectedly 3 days into our stay to clean our room.

Beautiful setting. Staff was very helpful and directed us to the best rental car service we found in Portugal. It was the only rental car service we found that didn't run an insurance scam (travelers be wary of renting a car through a secondary vendor!), even a direct rental company will try to make you pay a 2000 euro deposit on top of the insurance. This company charged 10 euro per day and delivered and picked up the car for us...excellent customer service! If it weren't for the receptionist, Christina, we would have been stuck without a car and the lodging is too far away from the city center to walk.

The only real complaint we had was the shower. It sprayed water all over the bathroom and we only had 2 towels to mop it up. Fortunately, the Christina had more towels sent to our apartment.

Great views, polite staff and great facilities

Location above the Funchal bay with the view was nice (if you forget about the noisy road just below). The apartment was quite large. Nothing else was at least acceptable. Yeah, one more thing.. bathroom towels were clean and nice (not the beach towels, they were poor, old with holes.)

This was not definitely not a pleasant experience. We stayed at the Palheiro Village, which proclaimed to be a 5 star accomodation, but it definitely wasn't! The "facility" does not have a reception on weekends (which you are told just after making a reservation) so we had a problem to at least get a key on Saturday. The apartment was old and dirty. The bathroom was dirty, old and stinky, there were many rusty things like garbage bins, accessories, a.s.o. There was no "cosmetics" in the bathroom except of 1 soap, 1 body shampoo and 1 mini body lotion that was even opened! The fridge was stinky, we asked the staff to clean it, but it was stinking just the day after. We had to throw away all the foods in it. The breakfast paid on top, was definitely not worth the price. There was nearly no staff at all anywhere. Nobody cared about our stay at all, all the time. If I was not travelling myself with 2 kids, wishing to have a relaxing time without any arguments, I would definitely ask for the money return. Very disappointing, I consider this accomodation a fraud.

Palheiro Village is a gated vacation home area with stunning views of Funchal Bay. For anyone visiting Madeira, it's critical to rent a car and PV is extremely convenient and accommodating in this regard also.

Instructions on how to access and check-in could be a little clearer perhaps.

Lovely property, very spacious with a wonderful view from the balcony. Beautifully appointed with everything we needed. Very comfortable.

We didn't really make use of the facilities. Check in was not clearly explained - directions said to check in at the golf club house but this was not correct and we had to find the village office - would recommend improving the instructions to guests. Clicker for the gate frequently didn't work and had to be changed twice!

The view and the apartment where great

The spa was broken, golf teacher was fully booked so we were not able to use the main facilities. Also the WiFi was not working because equipment was not installed correctly while facility team was claiming it was wrong.. Only the last day of the stay this was fixed

All apartments have everything necessary in place. We especially liked the big terrace and an amazing view. The sunset was spectacular!The customer service was great! We spent our honeymoon at Palheiro Village and would definitely come back.

Extremely nice and helpful employees, great and spacious appartment, free use of pool

Everything is fantastic! The view, the houses, the land, the pool that was heated and was working nonstop. The apartment was equipped with everything you could ever need, the beds were comfortable, we even had our own terrace with an ocean view. Superb! I would for sure come again!

There were ants and mosquitoes. There was no salt or sugar.

To start off, we booked a studio plus a 3 bedroom sea view villa, and we were grateful to be upgraded to a 5 bedroom villa where our group could stay together. The very first night we noticed the AC did not work, and we were told that a part needed to be imported, message response via booking.com. Each room had an individual AC unit but they were unable to provide us with remotes to turn on the individual ACs in the room. Instead Christina assured us we would be provided fans after complaining for the 5 rooms, they provided us 2 fans. The bedding was dirty, pillows stained yellow and bloody. None of the multiple TVs worked, possibly because the owner or property manager did not want to provide cable? Wifi did not work except on the main level of the house which was a huge inconvenience especially since the TVs did not work. Then there was the gorgeous pool which could not be used, we requested at the reception and then via booking.com and Sergio responded stating someone would come by to take a look at the jets and clean it up, and no one came. We spoke to Christina on the second day as we noticed upon arrival multiple issues and she assured us the deficiencies would be corrected, but unfortunately, it was one issue after another. Little things like only providing 2 dish towels, no shower curtain in the pink room, the broken shower holder in the second floor master which Christina was made aware of, the broken window screens which we notified Christina about which deterred us from opening the windows at night due to mosquitoes, stench from the bathrooms...just an absolute DISASTER. We would never stay at this property again, and it's an absolute shame because it's a gorgeous home with million dollar views. I feel sorry for the owner of this home because the property managers are not doing this home any justice...we booked at Palheiro village and we were given a home at Casa de Velho.

The high quality finishes in the unit and the exceptional view.

Road traffic was loud at times.

Personnel helpful before our arrival. Wonderful attention to lush greenery, gardens were amazing. Apartment very well equipped (dishwasher, waching machine, cooking equipment, fair amount of plates, cutlery, etc.). Rooms spacious, clean, comfy. Curtains kept the light out very well even in late mornings. Nicely warm water in swimming pool (kids and adults loved it). Fabulous sea views from the apartment and the terraces. Parking right next to the apartment.

We did not know that the every day cleaning is not part of the accommodation in Palheiro Village. After 3-4 days we found our beds done. Next days no cleaning performed, no clean towels, hence we asked the reception. Receptionist mentioned he would send someone. When no one arrived I got the information that cleaning was included once in 7 days. The cleaning lady said they were obliged to tidy each 3 days. Anyways, we kept our rooms clean but I cannot imagine this non-systematic cleaning for a family with small children.The bar at swimming pool was never open.We asked the reception for golf trainings. The trainer was supposed to call us back which has never happened.If you travel to Madeira for the first time, don't expect to get any tips of what to see/do from the hotel staff.
