Monte Mar Palace Hotel

The location is great. The sea view is amazing.The hotel is not new and needs renewal but is very clean.The staff is very nice.Pools and jacuzzi are very nice

Expected more - if advertised as 4star one would expect 4star

Was more like a lower 3star hotel. Very dated, dark rooms, super uncomfortable beds, bathroom have mould and doors peeling, looks like the bedroom had flooding at one point. Had a 1960/70 style fixed hairdryer in bathroom which doesn’t really work. Provide no glasses or coffee/tea for the rooms and when asked for glasses we were treated extremely unfriiendly. Some staff friendly but some very rude. Breakfast could also be better.

Location was good, view and grounds were great. Good room size with balcony. Could do with remodelling(shower instead of bath)

Breakfast should stay open longer, and Indoor Pool, open earlier.

Located in the quiet area north in Madeira. Nice view from the pool area. Good Aperol.

It was smelly in the corridors and lobby areas. I found a large alive cockroach in the room. Small ants were showing up in the room. This is an old hotel which NEEDS a renovation. Breakfast was basic and not tasty, one of the worst hotel breakfast we have ever experienced. Christmas dinner was expensive and horrible in taste. It was rather toowarm in the room at night (winter season) and not possible to adjust air condition as they have a “central” system for all the rooms. We cancelled stay 3 days before schedule and didnt get refund.

The place has stunning views, and our room was comfortable and clean, allowing us to have a restful stay. The staff were also very friendly.

Like many people have already written, the hotel needs renovation. Our room was nice, but the corridor (especially the floor carpet), pool, and spa facilities are in horrible condition. I would only return after renovation.The breakfast was also disappointing. Out of the six other places we stayed in Madeira, it was probably the worst in terms of taste and choice.

Nice place with great view of the see and also close to small village. If you are traveling with a car its a good starting point to explore other places of interest and also to have a walking tour.

Lovely hotel with ocean view. Location is convenient to explore the North (east and west) of the island. Room was very big and cosy, classical style.Excellent breakfast and helpful staff.Very quick and efficient laundry service.Parking available in the garage and/or in close proximity.

The only minus I can think of is the hairdryer, pretty slowI really recommend this place.

I liked everything, the staff, the room (big, clean, terrace), breakfast (so many choices)! I loved the pool area and the garden.. adored the little cat family living in surrounding bushes. Please keep them safe and fed ? ?The location and the views from the property are superb! I simply wish i booked a longer stay!

The perfect location.The location and the view are phenomenal! Perfect for those who want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city and immerse themselves in the peace of nature.The indoor and outdoor pools are in excellent condition and are very pleasant. Breakfast and dinner had plenty of variety.

The hotel needs an upgrade.It's not the first time I've stayed in this hotel and I always complain about the state of the beds. Because they're already old, they're uncomfortable; you can feel the springs. The pillows are also a bit worn. For the price per night, I was expecting better conditions.When we got to the room we noticed that the bedside tables hadn't been cleaned and had dust on them, which isn't pleasant for someone with allergies.

Gorgeous view from property in quiet, north island location. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Food (aside from breakfast buffet) was good and free parking was plentiful

Our initial room was very dated. There were smoke stains on the wall and the bathroom door was cracking, to the point I was worried my mother would slip into it and get large splinters. The hotel generously moved us to one of the renovated rooms which was much better! The whole hotel should be renovated in Oct 2024. When checking in, I would request a renovated room.

Stunning view from our bedroom! An ocean view room of the mountains & sea. Our room was big, very clean & comfortable.Great facilities overall.

Our mattress was a bit lumpy & could go with bring upgraded.The surrounding area is v.quiet so a car is definitely needed to get about.

A bit old fashioned but acceptable. Amazing view and garden. Breakfast was much better than expected (we read bad comments from previous guests). Clean and big rooms

Plenty of facilities like several bars, a restaurant, large pool area. Great view over sea and mountains. They had live entertainment the night I was there. Staff was friendly and helpful. Gave good suggestions for hiking trips.

Rooms are spacious with balcony but a little dated and could easily hear the next room.

Shower head not very movable so has caused damage to the door .

I had a great stay at the Monte Mar Palace Hotel, the room is of high quality and very spacious. I particularly wonder how they manage to make the bed linen (embroidered with the hotel logo) so soft. I had a single room (with a view of the mountains) and I wonder how big they can get. The receptionist, Raimundo (who speaks English, French and German!), was really friendly and very helpful, giving me the walking tips I needed, which secured my next leg. Check-in went smoothly and I was immediately offered a pool towel with the recommendation to use the pools. The outdoor pool with sun loungers is beautiful with a paranomic view of the sea. The heated indoor pool with Jacuzzi is spacious. There is also a spa and a lobby area with large comfy sofas and even a mini-golf course, just infront of the pool if you fancy a go. The breakfast buffet is great - with lots of choice. As a side tip, just outside the hotel is Kare's Café, where I had a good portion of beef picado and toasted garlic bread, along with a pint of Carol! It may be a simple café but the service is amazing, the friendly young Maderian waiter speaks perfect English and was really helpful in explaining the drinks and food.

Place, view, personnel - perfect.

Breakfast could have variety - didn't changed in 7 nights.

Views are fantastic.

Hotel is a bit on the older side. Food quality was mediocre at best.
