Lovely room. Great buffet breakfast. Beautiful hotel and loved the location.

We paid in advance to be picked up at the airport. The email confirmation said that a driver would meet us after we got our bags with our names on a sign. No one met us. We waited for 45 mins and had to call the hotel 3 times. The the driver was rude.

Location is great and very clean.

Outdated.Not a very good quality of food at breakfast.

Hotel is right on the waterfront and public promenade. Located adjacent to Old Town Funchal with delicious restaurants and unique shops. Fabulous people and felt safe walking in the city. The hotel is very high quality with amazing staff, delicious buffets and nightly music. Would return to this place.

The attitude if those who worked at the desk and the bell staff were not very good. Bellman had an attitude and was as if we were bothering him. Desk staff were not very friendly either and they actually did not seem to know how some things were run.

The location for certain. Our room was so close to the ocean we could hear the waves during the night. The property and grounds were spacious, pristine and managed very efficiently, right down to the presence of a bird of prey to keep the pigeons at bay.

Exceptional buffet breakfast. Huge range of cooked food, delicious fruits and pastries. Not forgetting the daily sparkling wine. Lovely to be able to sit outside when sunny.

WiFi in some parts of the hotel was poor.

Perfect location in the old town. Lovely room overlooking the ocean. Breakfast was outstanding and all the staff very friendly and helpful.

The location was excellent right in the old town on the water. Nice pool and outdoor area. Very quiet rooms. The staff were extremely friendly.

The rooms were really dated and needed complete renovation. For the room price compared with the other places we stayed in Madeira and Funchal you can get something much more modern. Also compared to other hotels which offered breakfasts with modern coffee machines where you had a choice of different coffee drinks, here they charged extra for Cappuccino. Most other 4 star locations also had someone preparing fresh egg dishes, here they were in a buffet serving tray looking dried out an unappealing. The rooms could also offer nespresso machines instead of instant coffee.

Wonderful location in Old Town. Close to bars, restaurants and tourist attractions. Great view from our room overlooking the sea. The staff were all friendly and helpful.

Hot food on the breakfast buffet was not very warm.

The staff were exceptional. All of our needs were met effectively and with a smile.The room was very comfortable, and the bathroom really well equipped.

There were plenty of options for breakfast. The location is flat, right next to the gondola. The amenities were top notch. Staff went above and beyond.

Although the hotel is a 4 star, the service is more like as in a 5 star. Arguably the best location in Funchal, with a direct access to the ocean, great outdoor area with a nice pool bar.

For the love of god, please hire qualified musicians for live music in the evenings. Both the pianist during dinner and a cover musician at the “captain’s bar” were hard to listen to. We had to take our drinks to the room because it was unbearable.

Breakfast 10 out of 10! it fully met my expectations. Room was very comfortable, very soft bed & bedding. Love it. the bathroom was perfect size. Overall nice hotel, very clean.

Not everything worked properly, e.g. electic kettle

We were upgraded to a suite with a full sea view which was very good. Breakfast was superb and the hotel location right by the old town is perfect. The staff cannot do enough for you. The indoor pool was also excellent

The wi-if signal was weak in our room - otherwise nothing at all to dislike.
