    Pros +

    • Breakfast was excellent. Room with kitchenette was perfect. Good area, close to Liso, laundry, tours b
    • I had room overlooking part of the bay. The garden area is very nicely maintained. I will stay there again. The public bus stop is next to the hotel. It’s few min from Funchal city center which makes it ideal for peaceful existence. Walk around the property and within the property is a delight.
    • Nice location, good breakfast, nice view

    Cons -

    • Ants in bathroom - many. Pools although beautiful were freezing cold. Nobody uses. Really unfortunate when they have access to solar heating.
    • Very dirty and outdated property, there was algae in the pool and green borders… I found it very expensive for what that was
    • Car parking is problematic. Either pay €10 per night or Eden Mar does have free behind hotel but it fills up quick as there aren’t many spots- if you don’t get one it’s free on street overnight or down by Lido (short walk) but need to get up in the morning at 8am and either pay or move into free car park if some have become available. Bit of a pain. Rooms a bit dated but they’re fine, toilet positioned in a weird place so you can’t sit on it properly as it’s right next the sink unit.

Four lovely pools (although outdoor ones rather chilly). Nice bar, Porto Mar in particular. Nice breakfast- Eden Mar best as can sit outside. Good location.

We had a truly wonderful stay at Suite Hotel Eden Mar in Funchal, and I would absolutely recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing, well-managed hotel in Madeira.First of all, the location is excellent—close enough to the city center to reach it by foot or a quick bus ride, but far enough away to offer peace and quiet. What really stood out was the hospitality and kindness of the staff. From the front desk to housekeeping to the restaurant team, everyone was warm, welcoming, and always ready to help. Our suite was very spacious and clean, with a balcony offering a partial sea view—perfect for morning coffee or evening wind-downs. The bed was comfortable, and everything felt well maintained. The gardens and pool areas were absolutely beautiful. The property is part of a larger resort complex, so we had access to several pools (indoor and outdoor), lush green areas, and plenty of lounge spots to relax. It never felt overcrowded, which made it even more peaceful.Breakfast was generous, fresh, and varied—there was something for every taste, from fresh fruits and pastries to warm dishes and local specialties. We also tried one of the restaurants for dinner and enjoyed a delicious meal with excellent service.Overall, Suite Hotel Eden Mar exceeded our expectations.

If I had to mention a couple of small downsides, there was some construction work happening nearby that started a bit after 8 AM. It was occasionally noisy, so we had to keep the balcony door closed in the mornings. That said, it didn’t really impact our experience much—since we were out exploring and hiking during the day, by the time we returned in the evening, the work had already wrapped up.Also, the kitchenette area, while functional and well-equipped, showed some signs of wear and tear—particularly around the sink, which was slightly damaged. Still, everything worked just fine and served its purpose well. These were very minor issues compared to the overall comfort and experience the hotel provided.

Very nice hotel, easy to reach from Funchal (bus or walk). Comfortable bed, nice room (some parts, like the corridor would welcome some renovation), clean bathroom, kind personnel. Missed a coffee machine from the room but is is not a big issue. Superb breakfast. During the evening period we “enjoyed” significant smell of fried fish from a nearby restaurant kitchen (couldn’t keep the terrace door open between 6-10PM), but we were very near to the roof vent of the place and we managed not to stay in the room in this period.

The resort hotel is very good and has excellent facilities, great customer service and is a very relaxing place to switch off and enjoy downtime. The room was well equipped and the beds were soooo comfortable to sleep on.The staff and service in the hotel resort is consistently very good and the staff are welcoming, helpful and friendly.

Food is delicious, atmosphere very relaxed and friendly. Lovely pools and comfortable lounge chairs.

We stayed on the ground floor and unfortunately we saw ants in our room, quite a lot of them. Also, the room is not very soundproof so you hear guests from above.

The location, gardens, crèche and swings, golf and indoor pools

    Nothing! It was genuinely excellent.

    The gardens

It’s a resort, hadn’t realised there was nightly entertainment. Perfect for the intended crowd who loved it.

    10KatiePosted on: 1-16-2025

We had a room on the ground level and it was useful to have easy access to the pool areas. The hotel facilities are extensive and spacious, it never felt busy in any of the pools or surrounding spaces. The gardens were a real bonus, so well-kept and a delight to wander through. The breakfast was exceptional with so many options and the allergen labelling was so useful to identify what was in every dish - I've never seen it done to this level before. Without hesitation, I would very happily return.

Room- really cozy and beautiful with a great view.Facilities- amazing resort with all amenities- the pools are great, the whole atmosphere is great! And a perfect location near restaurants and bars.

One small note- would prefer to have a larger shower instead of a small tab shower.

We liked the facilities, restaurants (variety was great), the layout of the property (more a hotel by the way) and spacious gardens and pool areas. Great position making access to the town pretty straightforward.

    Nothing to see here!

Location is great and staff was cordial and friendly

First room we were assigned was loud , bathroom wooden floors felt a bit soft from dampness and generally wasn't good. To the hotel's credit , they took care of this within a day and moved us to a better room . We appreciate that .Breakfast is rather bland despite having a relatively large spread.

Very friendly and helpful staff, great selection of facilities, lovely gardens with different seating options, excellent breakfast, nice pool bar/cafe. Spacious bedroom and very comfortable bed, very good location near to the sea, restaurants and bus stops.

This hotel is set in lovely tropical gardens and lovely pool areas and is located close to the sea and lovely promenade which we walked often with plenty of pleasant bars and restaurants. Breakfast was good and plentiful with a good choice but not outstanding. Our room was a superior studio which was well equipped and spacious on the ground floor. We had a meal in the Portuguese restaurant which was outstanding and reasonably priced and the waiting staff were excellent.

Firstly our room was located on the ground floor with balcony directly fronting the breakfast area, so often we awoke to early risers eating just outside our room. Next door to our room was the kitchen, so before 7:00am you could hear a lot of noise as they prepared for breakfast. If it wasn’t for the fact that my wife and I wear earplugs I probably would’ve asked to be moved as I don’t think this particular room offers good value money. Finally, I didn’t find the reception staff particularly friendly. The initial check in was ok, but one female staff member in particular came across quite rude and condescending when I had to ask twice to confirm the location of a bus stop after I had gone to the wrong one. With the exception of the waiting staff at the Portuguese restaurant and breakfast service who were absolutely lovely and cheerful- it seemed difficult to get a greeting out of some of the others.

This was a really comfortable and relaxing hotel. There were plenty of sun beds, both in the sun and in the shade. The swimming pools were large and quite warm 28/29 degrees. Frequent busses. Supermarkets and resturants close by.

Madeira is extraordinarily hilly so be prepared for really steep roads and lots of steps
