Location

Reality is very different than the description, nice photos and the beautiful facade. Not all rooms have air conditioning. The streets have loud music. So it is between heat or noise in the room. When my wife was showering a spider crawled her arm. When I showered, no hot water. Check my photos. This is not a 4-star in any standard.

Had to check out before breakfast was served but had a continental breakfast delivered to our room

I had a really great experience at this hotel! Staff was very friendly and morning breakfast was delicious and with a lot of variety. We had a great view of the city/ocean. I’d like to mention that my mother forgot her ring in our room and I called regarding that. The staff was prompt and kind to return it via mail to our home in the USA. Special kudos to Karina and David for their help!!

Very good location and very nice hotelThe parking was not comfortable but there was and it was free of charge.

Only a small remark:There were no slippers in the room.The hot breakfast was always cold even at the beginning of the breakfast (07:30) and always offered almost the same.

Very nice hotel in an excellent location for the old town. Kitchen staff were not the best although the manager was excellent. There appeared to be staffing issues and one woman in particular was rude and we felt rushed having our breakfast. The breakfast was very good, really enjoyed the selection of fresh fruits, pity about the coffee! Overall our stay was very good, the car park proves a bit of a challenge getting in and out and there is a clear lack of signs and even the Hotel name is not obvious when you are driving in looking for it. Would definitely go back, it is a lovely hotel and has good facilities

Staff were friendly, breakfast was lovely - very tasty and good selection, location is perfect - walking distance to everything in Funchal. Free underground secure parking is a huge bonus as well! We didn't get to use the facilities unfortunately but the pool looked very inviting had the weather been better.

The decor was a little dated but not a huge problem as everything still comfortable and worked fine!

Good a number of options from fruit to fully cooked.

A new hotel was being built near by and between 3pm and 6pm there was plenty of noise.

Location.

Lumpy pillows. Smokers too close to open windows. Tippy refrigerator. Complex “smart” lighting system that didn’t function. Would suggest reverting to just plain old wall switches. Food not kept hot at breakfast.

Parking cannot be reserved. But there is a parking garage next to it for €10 per day.

CleanDecent sized room & comfortable bedGreat view from balconyGood location as long as one is fit or iif not, willing to use a taxi for a short journey from the as it is up a steep hill but very convenient for getting down to plentiful restaurants, fairly close by.

Lighting is poor & a ridiculous arrangement for turning on the lights.No heating or it wasn't working on the ventilation system ( but it did not affect us particularly.No facility for tea & coffee.Breakfast was plentiful but hot items cool.

Breakfast was good with a good selection of things to choose from and the layout was well organised. Most of the time there were alternative milks available, also gluten free bread. The location was excellent, a short walk from the promenade and numerous restaurants. This is important as Funchal is located on a steep hill, we wouldn't have wanted to be any further up that hill. Staff were excellent and helpful, an especial mention for Dario on reception, Maria in the dining hall and Rui the bartender. Rui was very friendly and went out of his way to provide us with a good service at the bar. We were grateful that our room was upgraded to a suite.

The curtains in our room could have done with being replaced, they looked old and a bit tatty. The weird electrics in rooms 203 and 411 really need updating. Some of the lights had switches on the wall but some did not, we were given a remote control to operate them which was very complicated to use as the symbols didn't appear to correspond with what was expected. I ended up drawing a little diagram to help me. Being gluten free I felt a bit left out at breakfast. Although there was G/F bread there were no G/F cakes.

Breakfast was good. location was good.

Booked for check in on 4 October after changes of booking date from 5 October but when arrived on the 4 October was told there was no information about the changes and had to get alternate accommodation for that day as the hotel was full.Still not credit and got money back for the one day not used accommodation on 4 October.Air conditioning broke down and did not work for the last 4 days of stay.
