Pros +
- Staff and breakfast choices
- I stay at Fredrick's every couple of months and always have a comfortable and pleasant stay. The hotel is quiet and peaceful and the rooms are large with comfortable beds. The rooms are always warm enough, even in winter, and also the windows do open for fresh air when needed. Car park is spacious, there are always ample spaces to park, and the parking is free. I particularly love the outdoor heated swimming pool and making use of the spa facilities. The spa staff are really friendly and helpful and also give you space and quiet to relax. The cooked breakfast is always of good standard and is served fairly quickly.
- Very nice staff, very good property was great
Cons -
- Spa facilities were closed
- There is sometimes a short wait at reception or at the bar, but never more than a few minutes.
- The fact that me and my wife went there for the spa night and couldn’t use it because it had been shut down. I didn’t give enough notice. Felt very disappointed.

Horror hotel!
Everything. Absolutely awful. Old, dirty, rude staff, dated. I don't know how it's still open. Absolutely awful
Spa was sadly not working, but we got free breakfast to cover for it. We liked breakfast. We liked the bed and room was nice and warm in February, it was a quiet area. Staff was friendly and accommodating.
The hotel is dated and it can be seen. It needs to be renewed. Furniture is quite old, the taps in the bathroom were loose and bidet cold tap was not working at all. The room had dust in the places like the plastic sign on the table. There was a torn decorative sheet under the mattress. TV is not smart, but we did not mind (watched BBC Olympics. Start Trek and Deal or No deal) - in one way it is journey to the past and has some charm to it if you are not fussy.
Nice warm room and breakfast was good
The place needs refurbishment
Large rooms. Staff pleasant.
Difficult to find in the dark. Had booked spa but it wasn’t working. Offered compensation breakfast. Had long wait and had to leave before order taken. Refused refund. Broken hairdryer. Noisy at night due to disco.
Poor. Never going back
Dear Fredricks Hotel Management,I am writing to formally complain about my stay on 31st January (Booking: Veronica Dzoro room 105). This trip was meant to be a dual celebration for my own birthday and my sister’s 50th, but it was unfortunately marred by poor service and room defects. While I was informed on Friday that the spa facilities were unavailable, I find the "upgrade" to a suite offered as consolation to be misleading. Despite being told previously that the hotel does not offer twin rooms, we were placed in one, which felt less like an upgrade and more like a standard arrangement that did not meet expectations. The room itself was subpar:Maintenance: Neither the bedside plugs nor the bed lights functioned.Heating: The room was freezing; at 3 am, I had to request blankets. Although a receptionist eventually fixed the heating, the discomfort had already ruined our night.Security Concern: Most alarmingly, a half-full bottle of vodka in our room was found empty this morning. Having purchased drinks at the bar all evening, I am certain this was not consumed by us, raising serious concerns about unauthorized room entry.Furthermore, the "complimentary drinks" offered at checkout felt like a slight. Being told at the bar we were limited to a single drink—while witnessing other guests receive bottles of wine as compensation—was insulting. We were also harassed by both reception and housekeeping at 1 pm, despite having an agreed late checkout, which deprived us of much-needed rest before our long drive home.I look forward to hearing how you intend to compensate us for this catalogue of errors.Kind regards,Veronica Dzoro
Staff where pleasant
Very old and tired. Needs total refurbishing. Spar closed until further notice and breakfast was not what you would expect from a 4 star hotel. This is not really a 4 star hotel anymore.
The room though very dated was comfortable and felt secure. Parking is good and location is excellent. The few staff members I encountered were friendly.
The entire hotel is tired and needs upgrading. The spa was closed due to a leak on the day I checked in, I wasn't offered any discount or compensation for not having use of the spa for my entire stay, it was too late for me to book anywhere else. The breakfast was poor, no fruit and the cooked breakfast cold, oily and the poached eggs were like hard boiled eggs. So bad that I skipped breakfast for the rest of my stay even though I had paid for it. Cleanliness is basic, the bin in my room was rusted with the pedal falling off. Tv reception kept dropping out. I found a male member of staff leering and talking inappropriately to the receptionist deeply uncomfortable.
Very friendly staff. Everywhere was clean, if a little tired in places but nothing major. The breakfast was fantastic. Eggs benedict with a side of mushrooms, highly recommended.
Hotel is in a quiet area, room was a good size and had a good nights sleep.
The rooms and the hotel itself are very outdated and need some modernisation. Prior to arrival we received a call the spa was closed due to a burst water pipe, which didn’t bother us too much as we hadn’t gone just for the spa, but on arrival there were other guests in the reception who clearly hadn’t received a call about the spa and were very upset. It would seem that staff hadn’t made them aware and weren’t offering any sort of compensation for those who had clearly travelled for a spa weekend. Staff behind reception were dressed very casual and were wearing coats. Though friendly enough it didn’t come across as very professional.
The spa was amazing and the food was very good, despite the menu being very limited.
The decor was tired.
Not applicable as didn't stay
Found somewhere else to stay. The bar wasn't manned, and the restaurant wasn't open. We weren't told until we arrived. This was due to a wake being held there the date we were supposed to stay.
Breakfast to order was nice. Gym. Location
Bathroom was not very clean. Room was overheated. Bath was old. Beds for one night ok. Light didnt work properly.
Hotel was clean and was a good location if you wanted something near to Windsor Castle. The front of house manager took our complaints seriously and we are hoping that this will be passed onto the General Manager when they are back in work today and a adequate resolution can be reached. The swimming pool was lovely.
We stayed in the Sandringham Suite. The patio doors onto the outside area were broken and did not close properly. Leaving our room freezing cold and also not secure. There were no safes in either of the rooms we stayed in. We moved into the Balmoral suite for the second night of our stay. I also could not get the hairdryer to work.Breakfast was very disappointing, we had a bacon and a sausage sandwich, the bread was not buttered, the bacon was very poor quality and the sausage was cold. There was no fruit available (we were told this was due to limited deliveries over the Xmas period, however there was a supermarket near by!) The coffee was so bitter and a tar like consistency. The steam room was not working but there was no signage up. The Spa was advertised to be open at 0800, when we turned up at 0800, the electric sauna was on and was still not up and running 30 minutes later! When we asked about this we were met with an unprofessional and sarcastic response. The hotel looked dated and the decor was very worn, water stains on the ceiling in the breakfast room, which was also very cold, chipped paint, wallpaper peeling off the walls and a mismatch of interior design, it felt like the hotel did not know it's identity. This did not feel like a 4* hotel, at best i would suggest 3*.
The swimming pool and the steam room .
Needs updating not very clean . Lots of spider webs . Hair in the bath tub before I had used it
BREAKFAST WAS GOOD
RESTAURANT WAS CLOSED COULD NOT GET ANYTHING TO EAT ON ARRIVAL AT 17.30
Nothing,
it’s old and mouldy and the rooms smell damp. The radiators leaked and there was a hole in the mattress which we complained about and were told they were aware but had not changed the mattress. We waited 3 hours for food in the restaurant and were told we had to wait another hour and a half for dessert. The spa was nice until we were racially abused so ended up leaving there. Would never stay here again.
Loved this hotel very quirky was a really nice stay and close to windsor race course .spa looked good we did not go in was small but looked quite and peaceful
I think probably more cleaning in bar area etc.
