Pros +
- Very clean and friendly staff.
- I was able to get a partial refund after telling the reception I couldn't stay in the room due to the disturbing (toxic) scent that had been sprayed in the staircase leading to the room and whatever had been sprayed in the room.
- James and Angela were wonderful help in providing ideas for getting around Windsor and accommodating any of our requests. Both were very interested in making sure our stay was excellent, down to telling us about the great coffee "food truck" that arrives in the morning outside their doors and has excellent coffee and homemade pastries and arranging transport to Heathrow. Our room was cozy and nicely decorated. In addition the pub was warm and the food was excellent!
Cons -
- Not one complaint at all.
- The hallway/staircase to the room was heavily sprayed with Febreze. It was so extreme it gave me a headache. The smell in the room was less, but still enough to make me feel unwell after being there for 20 minutes that I decided to leave and find another hotel. I immediately went to the reception, they agreed to give me back 50% of the room price. I had booked the triple room which looked decent enough, but some of the coverings and pillows on the beds were old and frayed. I could hear the entire conversation of one of the people in the courtyard bar. This would not be restful place to stay for me.

Although this is a simple inn, the layout and furnishings in the room we stayed in were beautiful and made us feel at home. Although the inn is connected to a very busy bar, we didn't feel disturbed at all. At 10 a.m. sharp, when we were getting ready for bed, all the noise of the bar immediately stopped. Interestingly, for breakfast, we simply walked outside the inn and immediately found a mobile kiosk/van to buy coffee and Italian-flavored bread—excellent. The location is clearly very strategic, even though it's not in the middle of the bustling city of Winsor.

The beds are the worst I’ve ever experienced
The pub was excellent - rocking until midnight.Room was bijou, but very clean and bed was very confortable.
Nothing - was perfect to get to our venue.
Staff and facility were all amazing. The value for our pound was exceptional. Our room was spacious and cozy at the same time. Bathroom was fully updated and small of course but comfy and so much better than a lot of the ones we witnessed in London. We loved the location. Easy to get everywhere in Windsor. This family of three would stay again and highly recommend the Windsor Trooper. And that’s not even to mention the pub atmosphere and the Italian food nights and the wonderful gentleman selling coffee and pastries in the morning. This is a neighborhood staple and a must visit.
I cannot think of anything.
We loved the location, an east walk to Windsor Castle. There were a lot of restaurants close by.
The noise in the stairwell was very loud when fellow guests passed our room.
Clean, comfortable, great location.
Shower floor was slippery.
The staff was very kind and welcoming upon arrival and it’s very close to everything on the Main Street just a 10 minute walk from from the train station and castle.
The room was clean and bed very comfortable. The location and value of price were better than expected.
Perfect location, lively locals pub downstairs (but not too noisy) and the staff were exceptional.Great little find!
Good location and staff was very friendly. A fan was provided for an unexpected warm day. Relatively quiet considering it is above a busy pub. Room was equipped with all we needed.
Small room with one window overlooking a busy beer garden.
It is close to downtown. It was clean and quiet after the pub closes. We were also there to watch rugby and they accommodated by reserving us a table in front of the big screen. People in the pub were really friendly too.
They do not have breakfast on site but there are lots if options nearby so its not a problem.
These rooms were quite quirky beside a pub with a beer garden. Staff was super friendly and helpful. Rooms were clean and well stocked, and comfy beds. Also had a coffee truck in the morning. Close to so many stores, restaurants and Windsor Castle.
The Trooper is a little treasure! Quaint and close to the castle, it's nestled in a picturesque residential neighborhood that features several restaurants and shops and is easily walkable. The pub food was excellent--the vegan sausage roll and chips for me, and bangers and mash for my husband.
Nice clean bathroom, big fluffy towels, walking distance to stores and restaurants
Narrow staircase
A very well located little pub that was super-clean, comfy and cute. We had our small family in the three bed room, and it was plenty spacious. Overlooks a very nice beer garden, but the staff moves everyone inside at 10 pm so no trouble sleeping. Easy walk to castle and other good Windsor/Eton spots, and the staff was super friendly. Would definitely stay again and sample more of their ciders!
You have all the facilities available and enough room. Plenty of good food options just around the corner, we had the pizza van there at the pub and was able to order pizza but the chip shop is also a min walk away.
Too hot in the room, there was fans and the windows were open but it was still too hot.
Convenient location on a quieter street - close to restaurants and walking distance to train, Windsor Castle. Attractive room with comfortable bed. Lovely outdoor area (beer garden) pleasant to sit in when pub is quiet.
Beer garden can be noisy in the evening and room is immediately adjacent. It closes at 10pm but if you have an early bedtime could be frustrating.
Great location . Not far from the castle and river . Nice vibrant pub garden for a summer evening
The beds were a bit soft for my liking.
