    Pros +

    • We stayed at The Black Cat in Galway and honestly… it was kind of perfect. The location could not be better, the room was cozy in that warm, European-boutique way, and the whole place just felt cared for. The staff were lovely and it had that little extra charm you don’t always find in bigger hotels. We walked everywhere, felt totally at home, and would absolutely stay again.
    • Location was beautiful. Room was comfortable and utterly charming. Lovely bathroom and shower. The staff diligently cleaned and restocked the room every day, and were kind enough to let us in early to stow our luggage when we gave them a call. Just a fantastic experience overall.
    • Great location, room was very clean, I had a small room but nice view out the window. Liked the extras with tea and apples available. Close to a grocery store, bakery and many restaurants. Loved being by the coast..

    Cons -

    • The only thing that threw us off a bit was the noise from the kitchen staff after the restaurant closed. It wasn’t anything outrageous, just louder than we expected that late at night. If you’re an early sleeper or super sensitive to sound, this might not be your ideal spot. But for everyone else, especially if you’re up a little later anyway, it probably won’t bother you. And honestly, the hotel itself is wonderful, so it didn’t overshadow the stay at all.
    • Thin walls and proximity to the ocean meant some pretty loud seagulls, but this wasn’t a huge deal - we got used to it.
    • Not much really..

Neat and cozy apartment to stay in. The staff is super friendly and you will find apples and a great selection of tee and coffee in the coffee corner on each floor.

The bed might be quite small for two people, just take it into account before booking.

Great location. Friendly staff. Lovely tea and coffee station in hall. Water bottle and glasses by side of bed. Although the room and bathroom were small, lots of touches were added to help maximize the space.

It got really hot at night. Had to open the window to cool the room which let in street noise. Not noisy with window shut. May have been our lack of knowledge on heating adjustment somewhere.

    Great location. loved. salthill

Room was very smallNo interaction with staff old school. Like to talk to staff re info etc

The room was small, but very clean and comfortable. There was no noise from the street. They provided coffee, tea and even some fruit. It was across the road from the promenade and on a bus route.

It was expensive for the size of the room, especially since there was no breakfast included. The windows could not open and there was no fresh air.The floors are thin, so there was a lot of noise from the upstairs room. The coffee and tea was in the hallway, not in the individual rooms.

good location, comfortable enough room, free parking - a bit away but that’s ok (except in rain lol). Got a friendly text from owner when I thought I needed to check in late.

i had room with cleaning staff outside and they were LOUD starting around 8:30a. Overpriced IMO but I guess that’s the norm. Mildly friendly check in.

Excellent staff! Location is amazing and the restaurant was perfect.

Our backs were sore every day from the mattress. Everything else was perfect.

    Clean and good communication

Very noisy location next to bar and taxi conversations very late into evenings.

    9MagdalenaPosted on: 8-7-2025

Great spot across from the promenade. Excellent restaurant!! Quaint, comfortable room.

Great location in Salthill area, rooms were clean and comfortable.

I arrived in early but was unable to drop my bags for storage - the rooms are located above a restaurant that was closed and no one was on property.

Passed through Galway for a night exploring the coast. Bed was comfortable and easy to find the spot above the restaurant. Food did look great BTW but didn't have time to eat there.

Bit expensive for what you get but seemed to be that everything in Galway is expensive so...

The staff was so friendly upon check in and the room had everything you would need. Located in a great area! Didn't get to try the tapas restaurant but will have to next time!

Vibrating place, with lots of entertainment around, easy to reach the city center by bus.

    8KathleenPosted on: 5-25-2025

Location, good quality furnishings, really nice, patient woman at check-in when my card didn’t work.

We knew the room would be small, but room 4 pretty tiny for larger people I can imagine. Bed also pretty small so you better be close to your bedmate! ?

Very nice, nice restaurant. View? oh well. It was fine.

All good. No parking, was a bit far. But we knew no parking.

    Had to find parking

No fuss, easy check in, friendly staff.

    8SianPosted on: 4-24-2025

Spotlessly clean and warm and suited my requirements. If you would like somewhere quiet to stay this is absolutley perfect. I was arriving late and had to organise self check in and the staff were very helpful.
