Location
There was a bad smell when we first arrived. And booking through booking.com was double the price compared to booking directly with swan house.
The studio is fine. The bed was comfortable. The kitchenette was sufficient. I mixed up check out time with another property so our code stopped working at 10:00. We were able to find a cleaning crew member to let us in. The remote employees did get back to us but it took about 40 minutes total.
The room is tiny and the shower leaked into the bathroom. All staff is remote except for the cleaning crew. So fixing issues can be difficult.
The location of this apartment was great! Easy walking distance to the main roads in "Old Town" and the rest of the sights to see.
It would have been helpful for there to be more hooks or a coat rack to hang your wet items on to dry. The hangers on the straight line of pegs did not work well for a family of four.
The location and cooking abilities
The had no bath towels! Regardless of how many times we called.
No shower curtain so water spilled all over the bathroom floor
See above; no coffee replaced each morning
The property is in a good location, just a block or two from the main area. The room was large and clean.
They use contactless check-in, which I would normally say is not a problem, but they are just not doing it well. At 3pm day of check in, we still had not received check in instructions and we had an incredibly hard time contacting anyone. Another couple who saw us outside the lobby door explained they also never received check in instructions and had to reach out, so it clearly it was not an isolated occurrence. Once we finally got into the room, we headed out for dinner and activities. Upon return to our room at ~ 22:00, we found ourselves locked out of our room. Again getting in contact with someone was impossible. When I finally got a response (at least 30 minutes later) the response was to resend the check in instructions with the door code. I had that information, the code was just not working. We did finally get in after about 45 minutes of trying the door, but it was no thanks to them. I am all for contactless check in, but you need to do it right and also have someone available to address issues. I never received any additional follow-up from the property. We stayed in 4 different locations (3 contactless) on our Iceland trip and this is the only bad experience we had.
The location was good, also appreciated being near the bus stop
#1 out room was near the exit door that slammed often(no door closer) also people would go outside to smoke and it came in the room since it was near the door.#2 the room was “extremely, extremely” dry and warm with no fans or a/c option. We had two small windows that we had to close due to smokers. Perhaps a couple of ceiling fans would have made the space more comfortable.#3 pull out bed was full of crumbs, had to shake out the mattress protector outside.
Excellent location and clean facilities.
The room we had was visible to all rooms facing the center courtyard. Sheer curtains and blackout blinds would have made our stay more enjoyable.
The shower was amazing!!! Room was comfortable and convenient--spacious, convenient kichenette with everything we needed. Location was convenient.
Comfortable beds, good location, spacious
Smell from bathroom, no blackout curtains, bedbugs
I like all about our room. Everything we need was there. Very cozy room.
It was hard to find our room 201! It took me sometime to find my room. There is no signage! No staff to assist.
Very central location, walking distance from public transport, restaurants and main locations in the city. The shower was good and the bed comfortable.
Everything is done online, automated. No staff onsite and all the communications are done via whatsapp, although I must say that the response is quick and helpful. The room was fine for 4 people, but the table was small and the kitchen poorly assorted (no sugar, oil, and basic stuff you would expect from an apartment). It was hard to dine together, even with basic meals such as sandwich or salad and egg.
Perfect walking distance to the Harpa center and city center. Added bonus: the FlyBuss drop off/pick up is within a 3min walk of the property.
I have stayed at The Swan House many times. The location is excellent - near a FlyBus stop and local buses. Walkable to many major attractions, stores, and restaurants. But on a side street, so quiet. The beds are really comfortable and the bedding is high quality. Great showers. Very nice at the end of busy days. What makes the self-service work so well is the excellent customer support staff.
It would be nice to have a shelf. And more hangers.
I really liked the price first and foremost. What we got for the cost was nice. I liked not having cleaning people knocking everyday and instead having a cleaning closet and supplies so I could clean when needed. I liked that I could get my own towels. I like the door codes vs a key. The room was a nice size for me (big even) and the kitchenette was great. The room was nice and warm. I appreciated the luggage storage. I liked the chat service. Had I paid more I would have had different expectations, but I think everything was fair.
The cost for early check in was off putting, I've never experienced that before. I understand a fee for late check out but if a room is ready then I don't see why you would charge someone. The shower had a good deal of a mold smell and an orange-ish substance. I cleaned it to cut the smell down, but it needed to be cleaned everyday so the smell didn't build up. The floor under the bed had not been cleaned in a while so it had a lot of dust and dust bunnies- so much so that I couldn't take care if it with the equipment I had available, and the floor needed to be mopped well. I wiped a couple drops of water off the floor with a paper towel and there was a lot of dirt, turned the paper towel grey. It would have been nice to have more pillows, we had 2 pillows for 2 people.
I was visiting for work and tourism. Location good firework and lively restaurant district nearby.
Not sure why room was not made up and towels not changed even once during five day stay - even after I asked a staff to do so..
Very good location. Easy access to major attractions, necessities, and transportation - but away from the hustle and bustle of the major city center streets. A residential, rather than commercial street. What makes The Swan House self-service apartment plan work so well are the excellent customer care team members - who are easily reached by email, chat, and phone. And the on-site team members who keep The Swan House clean and well stocked with supplies. One thing I really appreciated is the very comfortable bed and high quality bedding. Another is the 'rain fall' shower heads. The kitchen is well stocked - even for real cooking. I like that the 'dining' table works as a work table. Comfortably cozy apartment for two, very nice for solo traveller.
The layout did not allow for a night table or lamp. The butcher block style table top was sticky - not dirty but some element of the finish which no amount of washing could fix. More hangers and a shelf above the hanging pegs would be nice.
The central location, ease of access on our own schedule, the amenities and space. The property guide was by far the best we’d seen and perfect in the breadth and detail. Easily one of least complicated stays.
Even with the detailed instructions, we were unable to make use of the coffee machine. The other challenge was getting taxi service to the location as car parking sometimes created barriers for the taxi.
