Pros +

  • The location was nice, near La Blancarde metro/train station and a walking distance from Palais Longchamp. The breakfast was filling, but heavily relying on processed carbs (and nearly zero fruits and vegetables).

Cons -

  • The staff was lovely in person, but I received no written response from them. I texted through Booking on multiple occasions about the stifling cigarette smoke, but my messages went unanswered - all written communication was completely one-sided. My kids and I were overwhelmed by the pervasive smell of cigarettes whenever we'd exit the elevator on the third floor, not just in our room (through the ventilation). While the staff was very kind, they acknowledged that "nothing" could be done about unruly guests smoking in their rooms (?!). We were eventually moved to another room on the first floor. Unfortunately, things took a turn for the worse when we discovered we were covered in bed bug bites on the last day of our stay. I immediately found a live bed bug when inspecting the bedsheet. I killed it on the spot and took photos (both before and after). Since it was our last morning in Marseille, I alerted the receptionist about the situation. She was sympathetic and apologetic, but seemingly unfazed. She handed me a business card with the manager's email address, which I promptly used to reach out. As expected, I received a belated response, assuring me that immediate action had been taken to address the situation in the room we occupied (although I believe the whole floor should be treated, not just the room) and offering a 50% compensation with strings attached - me not exposing the bed bug situation in my review! Not only is the 50% compensation insufficient (and has obviously been offered solely as hush money), the management took no accountability and had no real compassion towards me as an unhappy and traumatized customer (underlining that they "are not responsible for the introduction of bed bugs but are committed to addressing them with compassion and care").
