    Pros +

    • Great location and a historical building with a common room as a bonus. Bedside light and a power outlet next to (I hope) each bed. Reception is open 24 hours a day, so I wasn't afraid to be late after my evening flight.
    • Clean bed and dormitory - nearby shops - friendly staff
    • Excellent location. While the male staff members were all friendly and helpful, it was the female check in staff that was truly wonderful and really took care of all the women staying at the hostel. She always asked if we wanted to be with other girls and made sure to put us in a room together, ensuring our safety. The rooms were good too and the attached showers and toilets were a real convenience.

    Cons -

    • General ambiance - it looks like most residents aren't travelers but people staying there for a long time. It gives an opportunity for ethnographic observations, but that's not the vibes of a place where you meet fellow rambling rowers from all over the world.Badly organized common room: almost non-existing forced ventilation and no window open in a space where dozens of people cook constantly, and the room is full of odours. No power outlets in the sitting zone of the common room.Shaky and rather uncomfortable bunk bed where you feel each movement of your neighbour. Lack of ventilation either. For me it was tough to stay in a room without a window when it's still dark on time the morning comes. No hooks and shelves in the bathroom to put your stuff.
    • Old style double beds without curtains
    • I wish the beds had curtains, but it wasn't too much of a bother.

Staff was kind, location was convenient

Kind of grimey feeling, especially in the common areas

Good value for money, ideal location for all the local tourist spots. I felt safe which was the important thing especially staying in Marseille.

I was told there was a buffet breakfast and I was a bit gutted to find out that it was only bread and cereal as I was hoping for more of a hot breakfast.Creaky bunk beds

The staff is very helpful especially when some problems occur with other customers in the same room.

Some showers are clearly not well designed for the effective evacuation of water.

I read some of the negative reviews and honestly don’t understand them. For this price in France, I’m not sure what more people expect beyond what this place provides. I had a great stay. The staff worked hard, especially the cleaning team, who constantly dealt with dishes left behind by guests. If some reviewers were unhappy, they might be better suited to upgrading to a private room rather than blaming a dormitory for being a dormitory. I would never have had the opportunity to see Marseille and its surroundings without this place. They also offered luggage storage at no additional charge. Thank you!

    Rooms/appliances were OK.

    1. The sheets they gave me smelled like a dead body2. I was given 2 key cards that both did not work and kept having to walk back to get a new one3. The annex I stayed in was nearly impossible to sleep in due to noise

It was close to everything. The rooms were very big and had a table and a chair, which I always appreciate to leave my things. I appreciate the toilette and bathroom inside the room, I’ve noticed it’s a thing in France.

The shared kitchen was dirty and poorly equipped. Personally I had a bad experience because they messed up my booking and took my things away from my bed while I was away (I still had a night left) and they ended up losing my towel, a travel pillow and my clothes I had left on my bed. The front desk guy fixed it for me and assigned me a new room but even though I know ir wasn’t his fault I was expecting a more compensating attitude since it was clearly the hostel’s responsibility (at least someone could have helped me carry my bags to the room). This brings me to another point which is the rooms are in different buildings and there are many stairs in between and no elevator or ramp to make things easier.

Staff was very nice and helpful

The room was smelling bad and one of the toilet wasn't too clean, with one of the tap clogged

I really enjoyed the one night in this hotel due to the several reasons. Firstly, the location is so nice, i would even say - perfect. Really close to the center and port, easy to reach public transport, supermarkets and restaurants. Very safe and tourist friendly location. Secondly, the working personal was very nice they spoke in english very good and were helpful. Finally, i love the fact of the shared comfy kitchen, it was chilling to having your breakfast in the mornig in the kitchen, it felt like im not in hotel but in home, this feeling was so memorable.

i loved it, everything was good! For this price it is top tier place.

Single bed in a hostel room for 4 people; 2 stores, great ceiling.

    10DallasPosted on: 11-14-2025

Two large and well-equipped kitchens complemented several buildings of spacious dorms. The vibes were very friendly throughout.

The woman who sold me €1.50 bottomless coffee tersely informed me that the machine had closed seven minutes before just after she had taken the money. I was still able to get a cappuccino which was brewed with sugar already included which is obviously disgusting. Because of this unpleasant experience I did not purchase their breakfast on any of the following days of my stay.
