Misleading listing, overcrowded room, no ventilationReview:This was the worst hostel I’ve stayed in. The experience felt like a scam from the start. On Booking the room is advertised as 17 m² with one bunk bed, but in reality I was placed in a room shared with 6 people. The ceilings are low and there is no ventilation at all — no exhaust fan, no fresh air coming in. Because of this, the air feels heavy and unhealthy, sleep was poor, and I felt unwell.When I asked why the listing doesn’t match the reality, the administrator simply suggested I “find another hotel and move out.” No solution, no compensation, no apology.I genuinely don’t understand how this place can operate like this. I do not recommend it.Cons: Misleading listing, overcrowded room, no ventilation, poor response from staffPros: None

The cleanliness and the staff was amazing

I wish there were something to cook. Though there was a microwave but I would be more happy if i could make some noodles or tea etc.

Clean comfortable beds and good value breakfast. Lively common area.

The staff is very nice and friendly, they speak English fluently. Everything was clean all the time.

One of the roommates opened the windows so the room was too cold. Yet I reported about it to the staff, they gave me an extra blanket and a radiator heater.

I was tired from going up and down the third floor.

The HO36 hostel is very good ?.It is well located, and the rooms are spacious and clean.If you like, you can enjoy a large lounge on the reception floor.If you have never met Natasha Lyonne this also the place to be ?

Clean and well-maintained rooms: The dorms and beds were in great condition, comfortable, and kept very clean.Good location: The hostel is well situated, making it easy to explore Lyon and reach the main attractions.

High price: The stay felt expensive, although this seems to be common in Lyon, where accommodation in general tends to be pricey.Insufficient bathrooms: There are too few bathrooms and showers for the number of guests per floor. It would be helpful if guests were allowed to use facilities on other floors to reduce overcrowding. Additionally, the bathrooms are extremely small, which makes them uncomfortable to use.

Facilities are very old, no elevator, door sometimes doesn’t open with key.

The hostel was easy to find since it’s located above a nice bar/café on the ground floor — a lovely spot that I’d love to try next time. Check-in was smooth, and both receptionists I met (one during the day and one at night) were professional, polite, and very welcoming. I liked that everything was accessible with a key card, making it convenient and secure. The dorms were clean and comfortable, with sturdy beds, clean sheets, and privacy curtains. There was also enough space to move around and store belongings, though you need your own lock for the storage area under the bed. The bathrooms and toilets were clean, and soap was provided.

One of my roommates was quite inconsiderate — she was on the phone for hours and frequently made unpleasant noises. While that’s not the hostel’s fault, it did affect my experience. The area itself can also feel a bit dodgy at night. When I arrived in the afternoon, I took the tram from the train/bus station, which was easy and convenient. However, when I had to catch an early morning bus, I opted for a taxi instead, just to be on the safe side. The streets around the hostel can be a bit dark and quiet late at night.

Staff was very servicial and will help you out with a nice smile, even when they are busy with the bar. I loved the fact that they have a storage room free of charge, very convenient when you have a late bus/flight. The beds have curtains, which is also great for more privacy.

They don't really have a kitchen where you could make your own food. The hostel is well located, but the surroundings are a bit sketchy, especially at night. Some people yelling at night:s

Friendly staff, before check-in you can leave your things with them, they have a separate room for that, and as far as I remember, one of the staff unlocks and locks the room for you to leave your things, so when you leave it, it locks, so things are safe, the beds are comfortable...

Loved the sturdy beds with privacy curtains, also great location, walkable to city centre

Bathrooms were few and small. Only one toilet per floor. And no extra shelf to store stuff while in bed.

I really appreciated the staff who were all helpful and made me feel welcomed.The whole hotel seemed clean and comfortable. My room was more spacious than I expected and my bathroom had all the basics.The hotel is close to the river and you can walk to some good tourist spots. You can also take the tram or metro.

I think there's a problem with the plumbing because my faucet sometimes leaked and let out high-pitched noises.My biggest issue is with the location. While I liked that it was close to the river and was accessible by tram and metro, the neighbourhood felt a bit sketchy. I arrived in the evening and I was scared walking alone. from the metro to the hotel because there were people drinking nearby.
