    Pros +

    • This was the most unique hotel I have stayed at and I loved it! Former convent beautifully redone with a modern twist. Restaurant was excellent. Such a great find.
    • It’s in a gorgeous restored building.
    • the spa is really nice. the grounds are beautiful. the building is really special. It is nice to look out at the city and feel above Lyon.

    Cons -

    • The safe didn’t work. I wasn’t comfortable not having a working safe asI have had jewelry stolen by I assume staff in France before and a passport that my husband forgot to lock up went missing in the UK. At that price point. I want a safe. They also couldn’t get us a reservation at the restaurant except at a really silly time. Extremely early - I forget. Holiday season.
    • It was hard to get from the city/village to the hotel. Uber is expensive and the talk is robust.
    • On top of hill close to the basilica but far from old town. Upon arrival in hotel no information regarding funicular and how to go down and up from hotel to old town. More tips would have been welcome.

Original to create hotel in such type of building.

    Comfy beds, nice setting.

We were a bit disappointed with our stay. Upon arrival, while staff were friendly, we weren't given basic information such as when breakfast started/ended, where the spa was or when we could access it. The rooms are comfortable but pretty basic (no iron for example) and most of all, not soundproofed at all even though this is listed on the site. We were woken up quite a bit and could even hear the TV in another guest's room. For the 'spa' (big word for what is there), it's really small and basic so bear that in mind if you're looking for a real spa hotel. All in all, we didn't think it was good value for money.

The room was as expected with a nice view

The breakfast was not up to standard. Very limited choice and most options had run out. It took 25 minutes to receive two boiled eggs. Decaff coffee had to be especially ordered and arrived quite cool after a lengthy wait . We have had nuch better in hitels in Lyon that cost half the price!

The building in some parts, the front desk girl that took care of us and the bell boy as well.

The room I prepaid (big mistake) was called the cell, that says it all !! It look like a cell, with tinny window that looked into a roof. The room was extremely small so I had to ask for a double upgrade to get something decent and paid for it of course. The decoration of the rooms is extremely poor including that of the common areas. I don’t know who did their interior design but is a total disaster! They destroyed the historical part of this building. I wonder who were the people that allow for this to happen. It’s a pitty ! Whatever you do, do not prepay your room with this website it’s a bad idea because once you arrive at the hotel they give you whatever they want and there is nothing you can do unless you are ready to pay more to upgrade to get a better room.

Beautiful setting, parking, comfortable and spacious rooms.

Food in the restaurants is mediocre. Both for lunch and dinner—not up to Lyon standards. Can go down the hill with the funicular and get great value and better tasting food.

    Beautiful building

Disappointing rooms. The cell rooms feel just like a cell. I tried to upgrade but was told no. Not even a 'yes' if you pay which I was happy to do. Food in the restaurant was limited and poor.

The beautiful building, the view, the breakfast - we spent our super short stay in Lyon at the hotel and it was worth every moment.

Our arrival was seamless with private parking. The staff were welcoming and attentive to our needs. Our room exceeded our expectations…a good sized room and bathroom. Our buffet breakfast was more than adequate and we were spoilt for choice. All in all a great experience.

Good location, clean, helpful staff, unique style.

We couldn’t get a dinner reservation.

    6MashfordPosted on: 11-2-2025

Dinner was good , staff were ok but no offer to assist getting bags from the car park, room was average for the hotel cost it seems to be playing more on historic building and location , breakfast was below standard for a hotel like this .

An absolutely gorgeous location and building, but the rooms are a bit stark - like a college dorm room

Almost impossible to get a straight answer out of the staff about simple things like cleaning. I was told repeatedly that my room had been cleaned when it clearly had NOT been, and it took the front desk person walking to my room to look for herself to validate that I was not telling tales - infuriating!

    7NiamhPosted on: 10-30-2025

I liked the hotel building. The room was comfortable and clean. The spa area is very small and you had to ask for the pool to be opened if you wanted a swim. The breakfast costs 27 euro per person which is extortionate, so myself and my husband choose to go down to the city and get lovely breakfasts for quarter of the price.

All the staff were lovely and friendly except for the reception staff which I found very sulky, and wouldn't even say bonjour when we came into the hotel. When I was checking out today the receptionist was charging me for two breakfasts which we never had when I told her twice we didn't get any breakfast, she then proceeded to ring the kitchen staff to check if I had told the truth. Then she just said it was an error and no apology which I thought was very rude!! I find the French people so lovely and pleasant but the receptionists at this hotel were not one bit helpful. When I asked them to open the pool I felt they were annoyed at having to leave their desk to open it for me.

Really nice hotel, friendly staff, comfy bedsGreat location for visiting the basilica.

We were aware but it is up a steep hill to the old town/ city but you can take the funicular easily, spa was a little smaller than I expected.
