- It was easy to get to from the airport and it was in close proximity to a friend's house. The staff were very helpful and the decor was interesting and fun.
- Very friendly staff, clean and comfortable rooms, very quiet. You have a good selection for breakfast and the food at night at the restaurant was very good, too. Very kid-friendly and close to the metro station.
- We stayed at this hotel in Hamburg for one night while passing through on our way to Italy, and it was a great experience. The hotel is located next to Hamburg’s famous zoo, with excellent access to the metro, making the location outstanding. The staff were friendly, kind, and helpful. The hotel’s design was exceptional, with a beautiful forest and Africa-inspired theme using a lot of wood, which created a very pleasant atmosphere. The rooms were very clean, quiet, and well designed. Breakfast was excellent, varied, and well prepared. Even though our stay was short, we enjoyed it so much that we decided to come back soon and stay here for a longer time.
Cons -
- dinner selection, parking price,
- Overpriced breakfast option. Meals in restaurant did not meet expectations considering the price. No hot water on the Saturday morning for a shower.
- The pillows were terrible, some outside noise and the place is a little dated.

Very clean, big room and bathroom, very good breakfast, indoor parking
Central to where we needed to be but you do hear aircraft’s flying over.
The pillows were terrible, some outside noise and the place is a little dated.
Very good and large breakfast buffet, very tidy room and a friendly staff.
Excellent Breakfast, very clean and cosy room, friendly staff!
Just the location for me as its near my sons apartment
the hotel has very little toiletries in the rooms. we had NO Soap in the shower on the night we checked in.my sister also checked into the same hotel; She also had NO soap in the shower.when are asked about Bottled water; I was told that they only give it to us on the first day. then I bought 2 x small bottles of water for 6 euros. But everyday ;water was left in the room. I paid cash to the receptionist on the day i was checking out for my water and it does not appear on my statement. I also requested a few times for cups, teabags; when the guy came to drop it off in my room; he flung it in the cupboard. Our dishes were not washed everyday; in both our rooms.I have stayed here 3 times already and refer many people to this hotel.BUT, my stay was MOST disappointing.
Clean facility
Very unprofessional in terms of the deposit. One day prior to the stay they deducted around 1000 EUR without prior notice. The room itself is not worth 1000 even if someone fully wrecked it. No one gave them permission to take money from my account without asking me or the very least informing me.
The gym was in excellent condition and well-equipped, making workouts easy and pleasant. The room’s balcony was an unexpected but very nice surprise, offering extra space to relax. Breakfast was one of the highlights of the stay: fresh, varied, and of consistently high quality, with something for almost every taste. The garden pond outside the hotel, with its reeds, water lilies, and wildlife, created a peaceful setting and made the area feel more welcoming. Staff were professional and service overall was smooth.
Vegetarian options at breakfast were limited, and poor labeling caused us to accidentally eat fish placed next to hummus. The furniture and interior design followed a heavy-handed “colonial” theme that felt outdated, depressing, and insensitive. This was especially problematic because the hotel references Carl Hagenbeck (who also founded the adjacent zoo) without critically addressing his legacy, including his role in exhibiting colonized people in so-called “human zoos.” The décor came across as tone-deaf, presenting a troubling past as a theme rather than something to reflect on. Some facilities, such as bathroom details, were more complicated than they needed to be. Our first night was also disturbed by a loud party in the hotel, with music clearly audible until 2 a.m.Before the stay I received about 5 e-mails regarding upgrade, advance check-in and such. That was somewhat annoying. At check-in we had to then fill out a form, asking for my mail adress...
Calm area, Zoo park just over the corner. Underground parking 24 Euro per day.

This is a nice hotel with a bit outdated style. The wildlife/Africa theme is interesting and not cheaply done, so it feels OK. The room itself was large and comfortable for an overnight stop; we had no trouble falling asleep. The staff put bowls for water and food bowls out for our dog (including some treats). Breakfast was really nice; quite extensive offerings of every type - important for me were fresh cut fruit and some bacon, but there was much much more on offer. We also had dinner in the hotel and it was well done for a reasonable price...very friendly staff happy to serve us in English.
This is a dog/pet-friendly hotel and sells itself that way, but the charge for having a pet is VERY HIGH (compared to our other recent stays). This hotel is far from the city center - in a neighborhood basically and next to a local zoo - but the price for parking is also really high. It seems like unnecessary (and unfriendly) price gouging, rather than reasonable.
We only stayed one night. Very easy to drive to. Nice hotel with very nice decorations, never seen a place like this. Walking distance to the zoo and the aquarium, they also give a discount. Rooms are nice and spacious. Good breakfast and very pleasing staff. The food in the restaurant was not exceptional but ok, there the staff was also great.
The location is very good for families with children - right next to the zoo and aquarium. Worth a visit!! Unfortunately we only had time for the aquarium (3h) and witnessed the shark feeding (starts at 10.30). We stopped at this hotel before boarding the cruise. It is not a location close to the center or the naval terminal, but it has very good and direct connections to all areas of Hamburg. The room is spacious, welcoming and has everything you need. In addition, the design is different i.e. each room with traditional African motifs (we had 2 rooms). Breakfast is until 11 and check out until 12! which is appreciated! The restaurant offers good food and a garden with lush plants for that area. Unfortunately we could not test it because it was raining. Probably on the next cruise in Hamburg we will choose it to see the zoo and stay 2-3 days to visit the city.
Clean rooms, good breakfast.A nice experience overall.Close to the zoo.The underground parking is a nice feature.
The only minus… big minus I would say is the fact that they blocked 100 € from my card without telling me that.I tried to contact then via booking but i didn’t got any reply. I had to open a dispute and got my money back after 1 month.Shame on you for that practice!!!0 customer support !I would have given you 10 because we enjoyed our stay but for this practice you and the lack of response for 1 month you deserve less than 5… I was indulgent with a 7 !
Nice hotel with good location, good interior and even better staff. Close to public transport and zoo.
Parking is expensive €24 per night
