Hotel Senator Hamburg

I stayed here six years ago and it is still as good as I found it then. My abiding memory was of a superb breakfast and that remains true - an excellent selection of everything. My room was a good size with a comfortable bed and well-equipped bathroom. The hotel is well-situated, only 5 minutes walk from the main railway station. The staff are very friendly. Within 3 or 4 days they knew my room number without my having to ask for my key or for coffee at breakfast. When I had a problem with the shower it was repaired within an hour.

The Wi-Fi was generally good but didn't always connect at the first attempt.

Although there was hot food for breakfast this was limited choice. There was no parking directly at the hotel and alternative cost €50 a night which we were not anticipating as we thought there was parking linked with the hotel and that this was included. Theres no USB charging points so you will need an adapter

Excellent location. Handy for public transport / taxi rank. Easy walking to central Hamburg. Well equipped room, coffee maker, fridge, storage space, comfortable bed and chairs. Warm and friendly staff. Excellent breakfast.

Breakfast had a good selection. Including typical German cold meats and cheeses also with a warm choice and fruit. A good variety of speciality teas too. Short walk to the Main Railway station, Tour buses and main city shopping area. Great for Christmas Markets.

Some of the decor in our room was looking a little tired. Example- mirror on the wardrobe door taped where it had been damaged, stains on the cushion in coat hanging area. Nothing to spoil our stay though.

Can’t complain

A nice hotel near the station. A good breakfast and a complementary drink at the bar and a very late (12) check out. It is not new but everything is well maintained. It felt safe and I had a few hours to kill after checking out and was able to sit in the bar with a book while waiting.

A nice place but quite expensive considering it was booked well in advance.

Central location, walking distance to sights & eateries. Nice breakfast.

Stale smell to room, ? carpet. Shower had poor drainage. Room temperature too warm.

Excellent location 2 minutes away from Hauptbahnhof. Comfortable room with small balcony. Nice breakfast room with plenty of natural light. Free ‘welcome drink’ from the bar.

Decor is quite dated (retro?)The bed was a strange shape! There was noise from outside when I wanted the window open for ventilation instead of using air con.

Beautiful hotel close to the railway station. The breakfast is one of the best I've had in European hotels recently. The staff was very helpful and the room practical and comfortable. I will go again if I visit Hamburg!

Friendly, helpful staff, nice room and a very good breakfast. The hotel feels a bit old-fashioned but in a good way! Cosy and comfortable.
