Hotel Bei der Esplanade

The location was excellent. My co-worker and I were travelling for a business meeting at the University of Hamburg. All our meeting or event locations were within walking distance. The markets and the main train station were also quite near.

Size of the rooms. We stayed in Rooms 304 and 305, and they were too tiny. Hardly any space to move around. The photos of the single-bed rooms weren't provided. If I had seen that the rooms were so tiny, I would have looked for accommodation somewhere else.

It is very near the Goethe Institute where I was doing a course - 10 minutes on foot - and also not far from the Gansemarket and Stephansplatz underground stations. It is also within walking distance of the centre of Hamburg.

There are no tea or coffee making facilities, no kettle in the room, not even a drinks machine anywhere.The single room is quite small (see photo) but that didn't bother me.

The room was huge, very clean, very warm, in the heart of the city. It as my birthday and there were flowers left in the room.

It was close to U2 rail system and close to State Hamburg Opera House. Everything worked well. And it was in a safe area and was safe to walk back from the opera. I would stay again.

There were prescribed times that reception was open. However there were workers always on the property.

The hotel manager is a true professional. He manages situations, not just resolves conflicts. For him, guests aren't just numbers, but people who, for whatever reason, have chosen his hotel, and he creates every opportunity to make you feel at home.1) location2) management 3) linens are white, rooms are clean4) historical building, wood doors, carpets, wallpapers, atmosphere of cinematography… to all who is big fan of Wes Anderson’s film Grand Budapest hotel - recommend. 5) price point !!!

Perfect location! The hotel is very clean, nothing fancy but offered everything I needed.

We loved the large room and bathroom! The staff members were friendly and the location was perfect for exploring the city center on foot.

Loved the hosts and the strategic location. I got also a free room upgrade.

Very minor , we already knew it before we book this place that front desk hours is not 24 hours . Did not bother us as we were out most of the time.

It's close to Rathaus, shopping area, U-bahn and €12 (in a taxi) to Hauptbahnhof and ZOB Busstation.Despite close to a main road, you can't hear it in the Hotel-room

I wonder how it could get that high customer rating ?Awfull beds, The paint is peeling off the doors, stains on the floor etc.

Excellent location.. the hotel itself was very clean and comfortable.. spacious room enough for our toddler to run around.. and very safe premises considering the location. The staff were polite, professional and very helpful. The whole family had fun and We would definitely be recommending this to a friend.

There was no food available at the hotel. Though there are plenty of restaurants and shops nearby, Even a snack or a vending machine would have been helpful especially during night time.. You had to go out for everything.

There wasn’t anything we didn’t like. It certainly wasn’t fancy, but for us (we only sleep there!) it was perfect.

Very good location, in a good area, many attractions within walking distance. The rooms are cleaned every day, warm, large rooms. Very professional polite administrator, gave us good recommendations, helped with all issues. We liked everything. Thank you!

Attentive staff, clean rooms, good location, good value for money
