Pros +
- The team was friendly
- We were a short walk from the Markets and Restaurant areas. There is a wonderful view from the 9th Floor Bar of all of Athens. All up it was a great stay.
- The staff were superb and super friendly and made the check in process great. No keys needed. All codes for main door and room doors. We received an upgrade for all three rooms we rented. The hotel reception and rooms were welcoming, clean and well appointed and designed in a contemporary cool style. Comfortable bed and great shower too. Free Nespresso was great too
Cons -
- The entrance to the hotel is literally on the terrace of a busy restaurant. Could be a bit annoying to make your way to the entrance to the hotel. Entry code is also required to enter the building. Not a deal breaker in any way, just a bit annoying. There were a bit of mosquitoes. It takes just one to get your body itchy. Would be helpful if they installed nets in the windows.
- The Hotel provided a voucher for Breakfast at a local Restaurant. This was fine but I am still not convinced that this is better than a good Buffet. The voucher entitled you to a restricted "Voucher Menu" at the Restaurant with one selection and either Coffee Tea or Orange Juice. The Restaurant obviously had a more comprehensive Breakfast Menu available to non voucher guests. We stayed at the Play Hotel for three mornings and I just found the Voucher Menu restricting. One probable option would be for the Voucher to give the guest a monetary allowance off purchases on the full Restaurant Menu? The food on the restricted Voucher Menu was all good and the Orange Juice was fresh so this is a minor suggestion.
- The neighborhood is in gentrification stage and appears gritty with lots of graffiti but it was still vibrant and young and just a block or two away from the Plaka center.

Very clean and secure accommodations! Staff were helpful and gave us suggestions! They allowed us to leave our luggage while we were exploring without an additional charge!!!
Some of the streets close by had tagging so we were a little uneasy when we arrived late at night. However, when we left in the morning there were plenty of shops and restaurants on the same street.
The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly and let us store our bags at the hotel before and long after checkin making it an extremely convenient place to stay for our 2 nights in Athens.
I had a great 5 night stay in room 303. The staff gave me a free upgrade to stay next to my colleague. The room was spacious, the cleaning was done every day. Even too much of it: they changed the towels daily! I would definitely recommend to hit the rooftop bar!
Nothing, really.
The staff in this hotel is incredibly kind and treats you like family. They will go above and beyond to meet your needs and don't expect anything in return. Frosho, Constantina and I think the other girl's name is Magdalena go above and beyond and work as a team with their supervisor to satisfy their guests. When I come back to Athens, I will stay here again =)
The no refund policy is a bit annoying as well as the fact that they require you pay the entire cost of the room when checking in. These policies are pretty unique in the hotel industry.
The staff was amazing, they upgraded my room and even included a couple bottles of ouzo. I would recommend this hotel over and over again.
It is set back off the road so it was harder to find, but my phone was also stolen before I had gotten there and I did not have maps to guide me so take that for what you will.
The room was big and comfortable
The location is not the best, the surrounding neighborhood feels a bit unsafe. But it’s two blocks away from nice areas so not bad. Just not ideal
The staff made it. Katherine was the best. Comfortable, quiet, well priced and convenient to other locations.
I love taking the stairs but these were tough to navigate.
Classy, Clean, spacious, very courteous staff that are available 24/7 and helped in the middle on the night to get a taxi to the airport.
what an amazing stay at play theatrogreat staff very understanding, prompt, professional and super super friendlyexcellent location in pysiri, not in the noisy area.rooftop bar with great 360 degree viewsdefinitely recommended
We were given an upgraded room. The room was very spacious, tidy and comfortable. Location very close to everything.
We had an amazing stay at this hotel! We were a group of 10 and truly enjoyed it — the rooms were clean and spacious, the staff incredibly welcoming and accommodating. Communication was easy, and the location couldn’t be more central! We highly recommend staying here. The lobby area was great for hanging out, and the rooftop was lovely. We even received fresh towels and extra ones for our beach trips. The price was very fair, too.Overall, we were really satisfied and would definitely come back!
One thing to keep in mind: because it’s so central, it can get a bit loud at night, and the walls are quite thin.
Perfect hotel!Perfect location, very closed to the acropolis (800 hundred meters) and 400 hundred meters from ermou street. The breakfast was fantastic (although not in the hotel) in a great resturant 200 meters from the hotel,We had a suite with a large terrace with view to the acropolis,We will be visiting this hotel again
Staff were very accommodating and courteous. Even though breakfast was offsite, it was worth the 10 minute walk.
No refreshments besides coffee was available in the room.
The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. The location was excellent, and the room was spacious and very clean.
Breakfast isn't served at the hotel—instead, you're given a voucher to use at a nearby restaurant, where you can choose from a set menu. Personally, I think it could be better.
Although this is in a run down part of town, it is very central. The hotel is very modern and very comfortable. Wonderful view of the Acropolis from the roof. We were upgraded to a suite on arrival which was excellent. Would stay there again and recommend.
The location
Very noisy. Both, from the street and the interior of the building as you could hear at full volume all the conversations in the corridor.Besides, the hotel shares the building with a bar/restaurant and the smell from the bar's kitchen is noticeable within the hotel common areas (luckily not in the rooms)
communication was good before and during the stay
the location is not nice, and very loud at night. I also got bed bug bites.
