Pros +
- The location is the saving grace of this hotel. Very close to a big train station and the most beautiful parts of the 'old town' (for example the famous Parliament building) are in walking distance.
- Check in is so easy, location is great, close to pretty much everything, staff is so kind and they reply very fast, apartment was so clean and cozy and great price
- We stayed for 4 days and our experienced is wonderful, very clean and location is at the center. They also gave us wine at new years eve...Thank you so much?
Cons -
- The room must be badly insulated because it was very cold even though the radiator was turned all the way up (relatedly, I noticed that the hallway and the stairwell were not heated). I had to cover my face with a blanket during the night to keep warm.Even worse, at least in my view, was the noise. The walls are paper-thin and you can perfectly hear even relatively quiet conversations in adjacent rooms (as well as the less pleasant noises humans inevitably produce over the course of a day). Speaking of such filthy matters: The toilet made an explosive roaring noise after flushing, akin to those vacuum/suction-powered toilets found on trains and planes. That in itself isn't noteworthy. Unfortunately, however, this particular porcelain throne had the tendency to also generate that deafening sound when not in use, for seemingly no reason at all, waking me up more than once during the night. The only window in the room was covered up with a translucent print depicting a statue of some ancient Hungarian emperor, meaning you couldn't look outside. Not that the view would have been spectacular otherwise - there was just a dingy apartment building on the other side of the street. Still, it assured that the room was in perpetual twilight and gave it a claustrophobic atmosphere.
- No complaints
- There was mold in the bathroom. The water was only cold, if you waited until the water drained, it would become barely warm. The water temperature was clearly not suitable for the winter. There's a sticker on the window glass that's causing no daylight at all.

It is located in a very good place. It is in a quiet street and it takes you less than 15 minutes to get to the parliament building.

For the budget conscious this is very good value for money. Very good location - within easy walking distance of St Stephens Basilica and it's surrounding streets/ restaurants etc, but also Parliament buildings and Margit Bridge and island and across to Buda. But also in a quieter area. Also great transport links - just a couple of minutes walk to Nyugati station for trains and metro #3, and for trams 4 and 6 and plenty of buses. There are facilities for storing luggage if you want to.
If you like a hot shower - then try not to get a room on the 4th floor. The water pressure for hot water was very feeble.
Very spacious, very clean and quiet
There was no one at the reception when we arrived and had to call a number to get into the building, the neighbours at didn't give a safe feeling. But the staff answered immediately and resolved the access
- city center by walking distance- paid a discounted price for the booking (100€ for two nights for two person)- clean towels and bedding
The room was on the second floor and had a constant sewage smell. The bathroom wasnt cleaned before our stay: the glasses above the sink were sticky, you could clearly see that they were previously used. We found a used razor on the shower wall, fallen hair everywhere on the floor and the toilet was discusting (had marks). In the bedroom you could see the dust bunnies on the floor, so I am sure they didnt vacuum. So yes overall the room wasnt properly clean, they just changed the towels and the bedding. Since it was paid we didnt want to change accomodation but clearly we wont be returning.
Clean, good location, helpful staff.
Good spot for cheap money.I pulled a baddie
I was granted an upgrade by booking but they ended up giving me the base option
The location
I stayed at Hotel Metro in Budapest, and it was an extremely disappointing experience. During my entire 4-day stay, my room was never cleaned, nor were the towels replaced, despite the hotel stating that this should happen daily or every two days. I asked for fresh towels at reception, and was promised they would be sent to my room—but they never arrived.Additionally, when I requested a basic dental kit, the staff told me to go buy one at the supermarket. The service was completely negligent and unprofessional. On several occasions, there was no one at reception, even during hours when it was supposed to be open.To make matters worse, the photos on the hotel's website do not match the reality of the place. I felt misled by the online presentation. When I checked out, I mentioned all these issues, but I received no apology or solution. I also sent follow-up emails after my stay, but never received a response.A total lack of customer care. I would not return and do not recommend this hotel.
I had a nice experience at Hotel Metro Budapest! The location is absolutely perfect — tucked away on a quiet street but just a few steps from Nyugati Railway Station, public transport, and the vibrant WestEnd shopping center. It made exploring the city incredibly convenient.
While the stay was overall pleasant, the bed wasn’t very comfortable for me, and the blankets seemed a bit worn. The furniture also felt quite dated. These are small things, but with some updates, the room experience could be greatly improved.
Everything was in disarray. The safebox was broken, and inside it, I found garbage. The bed was unmade and dirty. The water drainage in the shower was terrible.
Everything great. The staff was vere helpful. Location 400 m from train station. Close to shops
Staff were extremely friendly, decent location
Not very clean at all…
Location is good, close to transport facilities and city center
Not 100% clean, not comfortable bathroom
The hotel is well located, close to the west train station, close to many goid restaurants and attractions
Not clean enough Low water pressureThe smell from canalization in bathroom is bad The bed is too smooth, not comfortable
It is a 10-min walk from Danube river.
If you'd like a clean room, it is better to look for another hotel. The room was really dirty with no daily-cleaning service. The day after check-in when I came back to hotel, it seemed they had done some sort of cleaning. By the way, it was really useless since I had just checked in. Instead for the next days that I needed really someone to clean my room, no cleaning service was provided.
Great location near the railway station, major shopping center. All the public transport is readily available. The hotel located in the quiet quarter. Room was well maintained and clean.
I had a room with two flags outside near the window. It looked like fasteners for this flags came lose, so they were making noticable clanging noise in the wind.
The location is great
I offered with 2 persons. But we got 1 pillow.
Great location close to bars, restaurants Nyugati metro/train station. Good sized room. Lift to upper floors. Baggage storage room. You can enter hotel out of reception hours by using PIN door opening system - great idea :)
Fridge was a little noisy.
