    Pros +

    • Staff extremely friendly and helpful. Breakfast was great and went above expectations. Water and coffee were available 24/7. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

    Cons -

    • The neighborhood was on the edge of a sketchy area.
    • I requested two separate beds, they weren’t that much separated and were given a very small room. We needed more space. During our 4 night stay for 2 nights there wasn’t hot water and we couldn’t take a shower which delayed many planned things. We could’ve been given refund at least for city taxes we payed for those two nights although the hot water issue was resolved later it was still impactful.
    • Only one suggestion for improvement: the front desk didn't tell us we had to put our key in a wall holder for the room's lights to turn on. A quick trip to the front desk got us with the program. This may be a common thing in Europe, but I don't think we'd not experienced it before in previous travels. Travel is all about learning, right?

Location was perfect for arriving & departing by train. Room was a good size & bathroom too. Clean & well presented with coffee & tea amenities in room. Staff very helpful and the dining lounge area cosy but comfy & breakfast was great with a good variety of hot & cold food + pastries. Easy walk to the waterfront

Breakfast was out of this world for an American. Delicious sausage and scrambled eggs, as well as the standard (very delicious, and very generous) European food. Very comfortable bed and nice room with a seating area (they upgraded us, which was so nice!). Finally, we loved our room's wee balcony with table and chairs. If the weather had been better, we'd have hung out there more.

Only one suggestion for improvement: the front desk didn't tell us we had to put our key in a wall holder for the room's lights to turn on. A quick trip to the front desk got us with the program. Nothing its very bad experience

Everything is not clean. The hotel is one star not for the hotel is not clean. The room is not comfort. The bathroom is not clean. There is a bad smell inside the bathroom all the time the sheet is not clean. Everything is bad.

Staff was pleasant and courteously answered questions. The wallpaper in the room had the charm I desired. The main reason I chose the hotel despite the price was because I wanted French charm. The ease of access to transportation was a plus. Complementary hot beverages though limited selection.

The room was too small. I kept hitting into the doors. Way overpriced due to peak season. Asked for twin beds, got them but the room was so small it was smushed together and functioned as a queen bed. Not enough storage space eg drawers, shelves or bedside tablw spacw. Patio was not a thing. Was told this is only available for some rooms. This was Not expressly said during booking process

Lovely little boutique hotel with very friendly staff. Location was excellent for access to train and tram. Beach a 15 minute walk away. Area felt safe for female travellers. Breakfast was adequate for our needs and always plenty of tables. Afternoon/evening pastries, cakes and sweets were a nice touch along with water and hot drinks. Room had coffee machine. Good air conditioning.

Room was small therefore could have done with more storage and hangers. Coat hooks etc would have been a small touch which made a difference. There was often an odour, damp/eggy but not present all the time. Room service was a bit sporadic sometimes cups cleaned and clean flannels other times not. Towels were replaced whether they were left as requested or not (if you want to be sustainable then leave towels if they haven't been left to be changed).

decoration and veranda mainly and staff

it needed some very minor renovation

    6shimaPosted on: 7-15-2025

    the staff were friendly

The breakfast options were very limited, and the room was too small for three people. The extra bed provided was uncomfortable, and overall the space felt cramped. We raised our concerns and requested a refund. After staying just one night, we decided to cancel the rest of our reservation. While the hotel is close to the train station, the location isn’t ideal for accessing other attractions or the beach, which were quite far away.

Close to the train station and bus,but very tranquil neighborhood. The staff is very friendly and very welcoming. Walkable distance to many restaurants and attractions.

Nothing to say. Everyone do the best they can to make the best stay for all of us.

Clean room as expected, good value for money since my booking was 2 weeks before travel, good staff

The property was in a good location. 5 minute walk to train station, 15 minutes from the airport and 15-20 minute walk to the old town and promenade

Property is not a 4 star, definitely 3. Amenities were lacking. Room decor is tired and tatty in places. Breakfast is not worth 15 euros each. There is no separate room/bar area for breakfast - it is just seating within reception. No drinks etc included in room fridge.

Great friendly staff, rooms well equipped and spacious. Beds were really comfy. Location was perfect for station and access to center

Noise from adjoining rooms a little loud but could have been the occupants rather than room soundproofing

I enjoyed my stay at Hotel Otero! It was an easy 5 minute walk from the train station, great location where you can walk every where ( 15 minutes to the beach) or take a short Uber ride to any point of interest in the city. The staff were very friendly and authentically welcoming. I appreciated that breakfast is included! The variety of breakfast items spanned from light fare (fruit, yogurt etc) to hearty options like cheese, sausage, scrambled eggs. They have a great coffee machine that can be used any time of the day which you can customize your coffee ranging from espresso, cappucino, long coffee, and prepare it exactly how you like it! The bed was comfortable and room clean and quiet. There was also an elevator ! Some buildings in the area don't have them! For a reasonable price you get everything you need to start and end the day! I would stay there again!

It's not the fault of the hotel, but every morning at breakfast there was a loud screaming baby. Some people don't seem to care if their roudy kid disturbs the peace. It would have been nice if they brought their food to their room if they couldn't calm their kid down. When the couple finally left I was relieved. Those same people were there every morning of the 4 nights I stayed there. Ugh.
