Pros +
- Great location less than 100 yds from historic centre ... rooms were decent size with coffee provided
- Very close to the city center and close to one of the best Italian places in the city (Osteria Delicati). We got an upgrade to the suite which is really nice and spacious, can recommend.
- Great location, lovely breakfast, big rooms
Cons -
- lighting in rooms could have been better , rooms were a little functional and quite pricey
- We had a room on the street side so during the night it got quite noisy.
- Minimalism in the rooms, one quite well done the other old with humidity issues in the bathrooms. Rather expensive for what you get. Pillows not to comfy, all balled up in certain areas

The location is the only positive point I could find.
Reception was in a diferent building. Then the rooms were not well indicated inside the building. Air conditioning machines outside made a lot of noise. And even the fan coil inside the room as well. And in our case, the shower’s thermostat was not working well.
Location
We paid for the suite and we’re expecting a bigger room with a bigger bed. It was not even a King size! We were also expecting a welcome drink or some fruit and other amenities in the room. We asked for some flexibility for the check out and again nothing. Very disappointing for the price paid
the room was super stylish, and it was bigger than I expected
the staff could be a bit more friendly
The location close to the centre of Ghent and its facilities and the ease of getting around the hotel. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. It was a clean, convenient hotel.
I’m not sure we realised that the City Garden was an annexe to the main Hotel de Flandre. We spent quite a lot of time looking for it - there were no notices. The rooms are very modern and very dark! They were quite cold under foot with Lino rather than carpet. Great in a hot summer but not so good in December
Near the centrum quiet clean
Toilet needs to be totaly separeted from the bedroom
Very good
It was really difficult to find as the check-in is in another hotel and this is nowhere explained. Lost 15 min to find it.
The room was clean, we had hot water and a strong WIFI. It was spacious and plenty of room for two people. Chair to sit on, this is fantastic so you don’t have to sit on the bed all the time. There is place for your luggage. A water heater with tea and coffee. The location is 2min walk to the city, boat tours and restaurants.
We weren’t informed that that the reception was a few meters back at the ‘Hotel de Flandre’. Luckily we asked a kind local.
Location was little bit complicated but it was lovely, The receptionist lady was super helpful and professional. Thank you very much Rune you made our stay special.
The location.
The toilette and the bathroom are not separated from the sleeping room. Not very pleasant. We had no idea that "The check in is done in Hotel de Flandre on the same street". This important message was sent on the next day of our stay.
Location was exceptional.
The room was full of mosquitos. The window was closed but when we arrived our room was full of mosquitos and we had trouble sleeping because of this. Be careful of this when you get your room.
I stayed in the annex in a quiet room overlooking a courtyard.
2 of the rooms were nice - comfy beds, good air conditioning, clean. Location was great, super close to everything.
1 of the rooms was disgusting- smell of sewage, dead and alive bugs everywhere. Room had not been cleaned properly and hotel was fully booked so they could not offer an alternative. It was deep cleaned before the 2nd night but the smell still remained. Pictures of this attachedBreakfast was very poorly organised. We were asked to book a breakfast time and when we showed up there were no tables available. We were told to sit across the hallway in the bar. Between the hallway and the bar there was a small ramp on a step which had no signage to indicate caution/care. Coming back from the buffet, I fell down this and onto the cobblestone hallway. I broke my ankle and badly bruised and cut my legs. The hotel provided little assistance beyond asking "are you ok". We had to ask for ice packs and plasters but they did not have bandages or much else to help. We had to go and figure that out ourselves. As we were in City Garden, my family had to half carry me down the street to my room. Again no offers of help from the hotel. They offered little help and zero compensation for an accident that was largely their fault. As a result, despite great location would not recommend.
This hotel was so central, the room was spacious and very clean. the staff were extremely helpful and i will definitely rebook the City Gardens again and would recommend to my friends and Family
Great location in the city center, friendly staff and modern facilities.
The location is perfect. We could not find the hotel initially, and that is because we booked City Gardens, but it's part of Hotel de Flandre across the street, where our room was located. We had a nice view, good space, amazing breakfast. We recommend
Nothing specific to be mentioned
Spotless clean.Comfortable beds.Good Location.
The overall experience was good but here are some points that need to be improved.1)lack of signs:it is difficult to find the hotel due to lack of signs.also its very hard to find the room because there are no signs of room numbers.2)we were in room 617 and there was no door for the toilet and also the walls were short so it is not comfortable to use the toilet although it was very well settled.I know that not all the rooms have this problem.
The location was excellent, close to the city centre and a grocery store a few doors down the road.
There was nothing we didn't like.
