Pros +
- Great interior, easy self check in, clean rooms
- The location is fantastic, the historic buildings are beautifully restored, and fhe rooms are comfortable and charming. The breakfast offerings are basic but it's still nice to have a little something in the morning, and the lobby / breakfast area is quite charming. The front desk functions are mostly automated but there was always a helpful person nearby when needed. And there is a really good, small Michelin-starred restaurant in the building, plus lots of interesting restaurants from around the world quite nearby--so overall we loved this place.
- Walking distance from the center. Very stilysh room on the last floor. Possible parking on the street right in front of the door. Automated check in and check out system.
Cons -
- As a 1m89 tall person, the roof room (Z) was sometimes a bit too small
- My room, although charmingly up under the eaves, had an endless stream of mechanical system noise going in the ceiling -- which I found both annoying and also incongruous for the setting and location. A peaceful historic house in a quiet neighborhood but the BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ never stopped. Never. Also, the stairs seemed somewhat treacherous. We expected stairs and anticipated that they would be old and narrow rom side to side, but we didn't expect narrow and small front to back -- and worn from age front to back as well. There's not a lot of stair left on some of those steps and they were quite alarming to one of the people in my party. But I want to end this on a positive note so will just add that everything was really charming, including the stairs.
- Very dark room due to lack of proper lighting (we had to dissassemble the abajour cover to get a bit more brightness). EXTREMELLY annoying home automation system (click to toggle function, very sensible and with a 2s delay at times). Bathroom has no door and its all in glass, which results in a stylish room but little to no privacy. Very challenging to carry luggage up the stairs due to 2 narrow circular staircases. Little amount of free wall sockets.

This is indeed a very centrally located, old-style "vintage" decorated hotel: all as You may find on a provided pictures. Wood ceiling, old-tiles floor and all this 17-18 century surrounging feeling.
What was really disgusting and embaraccing is a Toilet (WC) with no partiton at all. So, basically, if You are with Your beloved girlfriend staying together and then - in the middle of the night, You need to make "heavy things" - this is all happening just in front of Your Bed. It reminds be Cell in a Prison: there is also WC "in the middle of the room" with no partitions. My mentality truly dont understand where was the problem at a minimum to hang a curtain or make a Glass Door. If this is called a "French style" then this is a separate "Cosmos" which I dont appreciate.Next time, I will be more carefully reviewing bathroom picture to avoid this.TV didnt show any channels from Set-top-box but luckily I came with my PC and HDMI cable, so I watched my own subscription and movoes.
The wine restaurant located on the property is very nice. Checking in is a breeze because it is done by the customer.
The stairs were very old and small so extreme caution must be taken.
Great location within good proximity to the centre of Ghent but in a slightly quieter area and a very short walk to tram stops. Comfortable bed and excellent facilities.
We had such a lovely stay at this charming boutique hotel! From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed—especially since we were able to bring our small dog along, which isn’t always easy to find. The room was beautifully designed, with a super comfortable bed that made for a perfect night's sleep. The location is fantastic, making it easy to explore the city. The check-in process was a little unclear at first, but a quick call to the friendly team sorted everything out in no time. One small thing to note is that the staircase is quite narrow and steep, which wasn’t a problem for us but might be for some guests.Overall, we absolutely loved our stay and would happily visit again. We’ll definitely be recommending this little gem to friends and family! ??
Street parking is available, though depending on the time of day, you might have a short walk. That wasn't an issue for us at all but might be something to be aware of.
While I appreciate in-person check-ins generally, the automated system at Nonam works well and is very easy, especially the second time. The mini breakfast bar also works well with our breakfast habits. The attic room was lovely. Didn't meet a single member of staff on our stay, so can't really comment on that.
Very clean and unique
The free standing window covers were a health and safety hazard. I initially didn’t realise that window covers could fall if care is not taken. You really don’t need to place such heavy objects in a small room. You have already scored very high marks in my opinion with the way you have presented the room in a rustic minimalist design. The free standing window covers could have ended badly. The thing that actually upset me, was the lack of luggage storage after check out. This was an issue that could have been easily solved by providing lockers in the reception if you didn’t have staff to man your reception. Please don’t advertise that you have luggage storage when you clearly don’t!!!
Location is fantastic. Close to everything. Right beside a street full of great restaurants and bars. 10min walk to Christmas market.
The room was extremely dark in the evenings. Very bad lighting. Other than that fantastic spot. No staff but don't really matter
The design in the room is very nice, also the bathroom with a good shower. Also the small coffee corner in the lobby was a great option.
The lights in the room and bathroom are very bad and dark. The pillows where very big. The tv is very small.
Overpriced and dirty Hotel
The hotel is significantly overpriced for the quality and experience it delivers. The photos on the website are highly misleading, presenting a level of design and comfort that doesn’t exist in reality. Our room was poorly designed, featuring an open toilet with no door, broken bathroom fixtures, malfunctioning lighting, and low ceiling beams that made it impossible to walk upright in parts of the room. For the price, it was disappointing that even basic amenities like a small refrigerator were missing, especially in a suite. Additionally, the service was nonexistent, making the stay feel far from what you’d expect at this price point. Overall, the hotel offers poor value and is not worth the cost.
The room was spacious and nicely decorated. The location was close to the center. We parked at Tolhuis as recommended in the other reviews and we paid 10€.
1- No human interaction for check-in and checkout. We received some self-service information prior to our arrival, it worked out fine but it’s not suitable for older/less digitized people. 2- room 1- There was a big step as soon as you open the door, very dangerous! I fell with all my suitcases, as when you open the door there is no light until you insert the key. This is VERY unsafe, especially for older people or kids. Just add a led strip to signal it.3- I read this in other reviews as well: the lights are impossible to figure out, very bad design.4- I regret not reading the reviews in advance: the toilet doesn’t have the door and it’s right next to the bed! This was not visible in the photos, it’s totally unacceptable. 5- very dusty everywhere, like if they forgot to clean the surfaces (lamps, bed night tables)I wouldn’t be so critical if I hadn’t pay so much for the room! But I was expecting a different service and level of cleanliness.
Great location and lovely, unique design.
Hard to comment on staff because we didn't see any. Strange, self check in at reception with no one there. No warm welcome. Got there at 2.55, for 3. Ipad wouldn't allow us in. At 3.05 still wouldn't let us in. If it's working then I guess it's fine. If it doesn't the whats app and other forms of communication weren't reliable. Feels too "robot" reliant, despite too many repeated emails/messages telling you how easy it is before you arrive. An actual, friendly human would've been nice. Room looks great but was cold when we arrived (in mid Nov), the lack of privacy for the bathroom (there is no door) is pretty uncomfortable if travelling with someone else. More thoughtful touches needed in terms of lighting a smaller roof room with little light.
Very convenient. Bedroom very clean & comfortable
No staff at all anywhere. Misleading information about car parking; could not park in the street overnight; we found underground parking about 1 km away for €26 per night (not happy with information given).
Beautifully maintained and clean. Pretty design
Lights were a bit fiddly and check in was a bit laborious
Nice hotel near the historical centre.
Breakfast corner quite poor. The tram from the station runs for a very long time, going all around the city centre.
This is a cute boutique hotel with lots of charm. The check in process was easy using the iPad and key maker in the reception area. The rooms were lovely, and just like the pictures portrayed. People complained about it being dark, but that’s because of the paint and decorations which is on theme for this hotel. Good location with an easy walk to all the main tourist attractions.
The floors could have been cleaner, but this is an overall immaterial concern.
Comfortable bed, good furniture and style
This is not an hotel. It's an apartment hotel.
Beautiful, spacious room. Friendly hosts, delicious breakfast. Easy walk to centre and other interesting sites.
