Great value for the money
I loved everything about this place ! This is one of the best hostels ive ever stayed in , they even provide free food for clients and i find that so so nice ! Not many hostels do that , and the level of privacy and cleanliness was great ?
Spacious place and the great location too !
It was clean and it’s located on a good location
There are too crowded as it’s beside the main street and you can’t sleep well
Center, wonderful staff, feeling secured (female only), facilities, free food, coffee and tea.
I would suggest to put a physical separation, a screen for instance, to each bed to have more privacy.
I had a bad first night in the mixed dorm, and the staff was kind enough to switch me into the female dorm for the second half of my stay after they had a last minute cancellation, without charging extra. I really appreciated their help and kindness. My experience between the two buildings was night and day - the female dorm was so much more peaceful, well-stocked, clean, and (most importantly) SPACIOUS; from the bedrooms to the kitchen to the hallways to the courtyard. It felt like arriving in a utopia after my uncomfortable experience in the mixed dorm. More food in the pantries and fridges, more modern interior, more dishes to cook with, comfy single beds that were far apart from each other, better and bigger showers and bathrooms that were almost always free, quieter residents, GIANT CLOSETS, etc. So, while this hostel's mixed dorm was one of my worst hostel experiences so far, the female dorm (which is in a fully separate building next door) was one of my best. I would rec staying here if you can be in the female dorm; the slightly higher prices are worth it. To be fair, both buildings offer free eggs/bread/pasta/etc which is amazing, are in a great location on a cute pedestrian street full of restaurants near the city center, and are a short walk from the train station. No stairs involved in either, so easy to wheel suitcases to. This was also the only hostel I could find last minute in Florence that had no reports of bedbug /cleanliness issues. The staff is very diligent!
The mixed dorm is very uncomfortable. So much so I booked an Airbnb for my second night, to hold me over until I could move into the female dorm. They keep the spaces as clean as they can, but it's all so cramped and old that you feel grimy and damp all the time anyway. There's a subtle, constant sewage smell throughout the space and the building's 3 small bathrooms are always occupied since they're combined shower/toilets. The mixed dorm's kitchen is unusable given how cramped and old it is; I tried just using the mini fridge, but it went out overnight so I found all the food I bought rotted the next day. The rooms are TINY, so even my 4-bed dorm felt crowded and claustrophobic. They have the smallest and most rickety bunk beds I've encountered in my 4 months of hostel stays; the poor guy in the bunk below me was so tall that when he stood, he towered over me even being in the top bunk. The lockers can't fit anything more than a small purse or backpack (vs the locker size in the female room could hold my suitcase, big backpack, and purses all at once), and they're so flimsy that it wouldn't make much of a difference anyway (you also need your own lock). The walls are very thin, so you're not only hearing the snorers in your room, but every noise from the lobby and the surrounding rooms. I wore earplugs and still couldn't get any sleep. Also, none of the dorm doors locked, which made me feel unsafe as a solo female traveler. My first night there I got back late around midnight, and there was a seemingly random man sleeping on the couch of the lobby, which was directly connected with our room. I think he was a past guest whose late-night flight got canceled and had no other option, which I sympathize with, but not knowing that at the time, it made me even more uncomfy that the dorm rooms do not have any locks (and annoyed because his snores were blasting through the walls all night).
location, clean
beds not very comfy, guy was snoring very loudly all night
The staff was welcoming and helpful.
Had booked the bed in women’s dorm. There was some kind of mix up when dates were moved back 2 days. Was given €10 when I got there which was initially a nice surprise. Lady told me it was due to the changed dates/lower rate. When shown my bed, I was confused because it was a bunk which I had purposely not chosen when booking for some better rest. Went with it since there was no other choice.
Good location close to tourist attractions and transportations. Nice staffs.
It’s on a busy street and it could be noisy at night.
I loved that the hostel is walking distance from the Santa Maria Novella train station but it was also easy to reach the historic center of Florence by foot. Breakfast food (yogurt, fruit, juice, eggs, etc) was available in the kitchen as well as pasta and tomato sauce. Rooms and bathrooms were tidy and it was quiet and easy to access. It was also convenient that you can leave your suitcase in storage after check out.
I wish that the lockers had locks. There are locks available for purchase. When the AC was on it was very strong so I wish there was a way to regulate it.
one of the best places to stay. it felt like visiting a lovely italian grandma with all the free food generously provided for free. great location to most the key places to reach on foot,
Location being near train station is a life saver. Also this location is near where group tours to Siena/Tuscany start. So that made my day easier. Also this hostel has a Bidet!!! Which is very rare for Italy, I loved it. They brought clean sheets and towel every morning. They had delicious cookies, apple, jam, yogurt, toast, bread, tea, coffee at the kitchen.
I couldn’t make toast:( I think toast machine has problem.
The hostel is like a small extension of a home it is wonderful if you're reading this do not hesitate to stay here. Female middle aged solar traveler everything is so clean and tidy the people are wonderful there's coffee to drink and tea to help yourself it is so welcome.
the staff were super friendly, the accommodations comfortable and spacious, and the common areas nice as well. it was really close to the train station, 5 min walking or less and 20 min away from the city center. nice location.
there wasn’t anything i particularly didn’t like.
Clean, affordable. They have free food and a kitchen for the female dorms. Other travelers were respectful and always kept it clean and usable. Staff was always responsive, even to just turn the AC up.
Very clean well appointed hostel. Good faciliries and free eggs, potatos and pasta.Best of all the staff. Big shoutout to Lisa, Nadie and Emily all of whom go out of their way to help every traveler!
Good that it is not two layers bed but just single. There wasn’t problem with going up or down. All girls from room were nice and interesting. We had good conversation.Woman who clean rooms is super nice and she did everything very good and there always was clean????Shampoo, shower gel and this kind of stuff free for use?
My bed was under the AC so it was very cold for me even with two blankets because my face and head were open. Little bit expensive but they provide a lot of things which unfortunately I didn’t use but you can grab some food from public fridge and there I guess was cereals. It wasn’t problem of the property but one girl leaving very early and didn’t prepare from the night so she made a lot of noise.
I really liked the staff, they were all super helpful, and when I checked in one of them even gave me many recommendations of things to do in Florence. Another really good thing was the free food and ingredients, they were restocked regularly, were of good quality, and are a life saver for someone who doesn't want to spend a ton on food in Florence!
The hostel itself is quite tiny, and this reflected sadly in my room. Although there were only 3 people in my room, it still felt a little cramped, and there were no windows, so during the daytime it was also a bit depressing. There was also a very small terrace/common area with not much space or comfortable seating options.
Free food (as far as I can remember eggs, cereal, tomato sauce etc) that you can make use of. I did not get to use it but it was really nice that it is offered.
