Pros +

  • It is very close to the centre. Good price compared to other rooms in Florence . My room had private shower even though I hadn't reserved one with private.
  • Location was great, staff was friendly and gave recommendations Easy to check in and out
  • Nothing. It was awful.

Cons -

  • Florence generally has a lot of mosquitoes. In March, when it rained every day, there were still a few mosquitoes inside. Obviously, this is not an issue with the hotel, but you should keep it in mind for the hot months since the rooms do not have air conditioning, so you won't be able to sleep with the windows open. it will be hell. As a solo traveler who only needs the room for sleeping, bathing, and using the toilet, I was fine. However, the owner's initial messages were in Italian, which made it difficult for me to understand what he meant, and I had to resort to Google Translate. There were instructions that the room is in 9 blue and not red. I didn't know what it meant and had difficulty finding the room. In Florence, there is a separate numbering system for buildings; red is for restaurants/stores, while blue is for accommodations. I don't know why all Italians assume everyone knows this and don't explain this system to people. On the day of check-in, I didn't receive any message from the owner; I had to send a message myself 2 hours before arriving in the afternoon to receive instructions. The instructions were unclear, but fortunately, I am experienced with travel and understood in time what they meant by the codes. It's not a hotel, it's just a place with rooms, but there is no reception or anyone you can turn to at any time. The walls have no soundproofing at all, my neighbor coughed and I could hear him. Obviously, if I weren't alone and I was with friends or girlfriend, we wouldn't be able to talk because everyone would hear us. The shared toilet was okay even though it had a strange smell, but the toilet paper was replaced once a day. I can't understand why the owner only put one roll of toilet paper per day and didn't leave any extra in case the first one ran out.
  • Room I was given had a glass door with some tint, could see the lights in the hall when people came in, was very bright, luckily I came home late but still there was a lot of on and off of the lights
  • I booked a room with internet access, though the room I was given did not have WiFi connection. Id booked a double room with private bathroom, when I was moved room to have WiFi connection, it was a single room with a shared bathroom. It felt like a hostel not a hotel. The initial room I was given was in a different street to the building where the reception was. In the single room I was moved to I found a dirty towel under the bed, and a zip bag that appeared to have something mouldy in it. The young man that I initially met there was quite surly and rude. I would absolutely not recommend staying here.
