About
Located near to one of the now demolished gates in the wall which once surrounded the city, the hotel was established from the renovated home of a well-known family of Florentine merchants. The terracotta, stonework and the fine collection of old tools on display around the hotel are all authentic features of the original house. These historic aspects, combined with modern comforts aim to offer you a unique stay in the heart of Florence. Located close to the railway station, city center and many of the main attractions, the hotel offers an ideal base for you to explore the sights. The 24-hour reception also ensures a memorable stay as the friendly staff are available for any query you may have.

Pros +
- Getting there from the main Florence train station was a very easy short walk. The reception staff were very friendly & helpful. Cafe & restaurant options were very close by. The beds and mattresses were very comfy and there was enough room to put our luggage without it getting in the way. Breakfast was nice, with quite a few options
- Impeccable service, good facilities, very close to the train station. The breakfast was very good, and we were able to leave our luggage at reception for our tour of Florence and only picked it up at the end of the day.
- Great location. Beautiful room.
Cons -
- The aircon on the first night was set a bit too warm for a good nights sleep and since it was a system that you couldn't adjust the temperature from inside the room (all-too-common now in a lot of hotels unfortunately) we asked the reception staff in the morning to adjust it to around 20-21 degrees which they did. We slept much better in the 2nd night
- Everything was good.
- The elevator had a bad smell. But that was the only negative to the entire experience.

Great location. Beautiful room.
The elevator had a bad smell. But that was the only negative to the entire experience.
We stayed in a room for 3. The room is big and clean. The toilet is renovated and clean.
There is no tissue box in the room which was a bit inconvenient for me with a child.
We had a very good stay. The breakfast was nice, and the staff were very helpful in providing information about the city. They also assisted us by calling a taxi to the airport when we were leaving, which was very convenient.
Everything was fine during our stay.
Location , cleanliness and the room all were perfect !
Nothing to mention
Location, so close to main station then a straight shot down Via Faenza and you’re at the Duomo. Great, friendly, helpful staff and a very clean, comfortable and quiet room.
Nothing. It was great. Tutto a posto.
Location, service, size of the room and the bathroom. Nice hot shower, Close to train
We like everything
Lovely hotel with a spacious room and very friendly reception staff. The location is excellent – about a 6-minute walk from the train station and only 5 minutes from the Duomo. The hotel is quiet and tucked away in a beautiful little alley. The breakfast is rich and indulgent, with a great variety. Excellent value for money.
Clean, comfortable, and affordable hotel in the center of Florence, close to the station and the center. Excellent breakfast and nice staff. No problems with late check-in (1130pm) and late checkout (1130am).
The staff, location, and great value.
Nothing. We lived it.
We come to Florence often and decided to try Hotel Porta Faenza this time. What a pleasant surprise! Fantastic service, comfortable bed, great breakfast, and modern bathroom. It is located only a couple of blocks from the Santa Maria Novella train station. Easy walk from the hotel to all important Florence sights. Can't wait to return!
The location is very convenient - close to train station and most of the first-choice attractions were within walking distance (8-12min). The street is quiet and safe. Decent breakfast selection. Good coffee to order. Room had a private balcony. Spacious and very clean bathroom. Comfortable bed. Front desk ladies very super nice and friendly.
The furniture was quite dated and shabby. When we tried to come for breakfast several minutes earlier, lady who takes care of breakfast was very grumpy and refused to let us in, even though most of the food was already standing\ available for serving…The AC was not functional, although it was not too hot, so open windows were enough (wouldn’t advise to come in the heat of the summer, unless they fix it).
The hotel was excellent and the staff were very helpful. The location, close to San Lorenzo and to the station was perfect for getting to the museums, galleries and The Ponte Vecchio. The breakfast was very good.
Nothing negative to say.
Close to rail station.
WC had a widow into the center of the building where others from the floor above could look down into the room. There was a small curtain but it didn’t cover the window fully. A frosted window or window screen would fix the problem for the modest visitor.
great location, very good breakfast, lovely room, with nice, typical Florence colors and furnishings.
Clean, breakfast, location
We were a little warm at night… couldn’t figure out a/c if there was any.
Great location near the train, and some 10-15 minutes from city highlights like Il Duomo, Ponte Vecchio, etc. Comfortable room and chill location (only problem with the location is noise during the night)
A lot of people drinking nearby and making a lot of noise unfortunately. Also, the hot water went out on our second day.
The shower worked well and the room looked very Italian.
The air conditioning didn’t work and there was no airflow. The room was very small and difficult to move in. The hotel smelled bad, from the inside of the elevator to the stairways to the hallways and the room. There was either a natural gas or sewer smell that permeated everything.
Location, decor of hotel, breakfast, staff member Helena was outstanding
