    Pros +

    • The staff went above and beyond. Fernando was friendly and accommodating who was able to check us in a bit earlier, which was a lovely surprise as it was long travel. The location was top notch, just the exact area we wanted, in Little Tokyo. The room and the decor was quite spacious and the free water. The room has already some flat iron available, saving time from asking it from the front desk.
    • Good location and good breakfast.
    • The location was nice.

    Cons -

    • The bathroom could use some updates and fluffier towels would be nice.
    • Room 911 was real cold and the shower water was not drained so water started to come to bathroom floor.I needed to change the room in the middle of my stay.
    • Before arrival, I'd requested a specific room which we didn't get, which was fine, maybe it wasn't available. However, on our first night when we wanted to empty the bathtub, all the water emerged from the drain straight into the bathroom spreading black goo. It smelled like sewer. We went downstairs to complain and we got a different room, so we packed our bags and relocated. This was close to midnight, mind you. Once in the new room, it felt like a total downgrade. We'd paid extra for a bathtub and the new one didn't have one. On top of that the kingsize bed was now comprised of two mattresses. So again, we went downstairs to complain. The staff member told us that not all rooms have baths even though its stated on the website. Sounds very much like false advertising. He also stated that we would not feel the gap between the mattresses, which is of course not true at all. I told him this was not to our satisfaction. We got a different room again—our third, so again we have to move and this one was actually the one I'd requested before arriving! Good to know my request had been ignored despite the room being available. The next day when we wanted to fill the tub, we noticed the plug was missing, meaning it couldn't be filled. So we had to go downstairs AGAIN to complain. This was resolved quickly, but the overall experience was inconvenient to say the least. Also €30 per night for parking is ridiculous.

    The location

This is the 4th year in a row that we chose Clayton but unfortunately it will be the last time. The towels were stained (yellow big spots or small black spots, hard to show in photo) everyday even though i called or went down to reception to mention. Reception was always very crowded because they were always short staffed. 1 person at reception and a line of 10-12 people waiting. The elevators were impossible to get on to. Minimum wait time was 10 minutes. We had to use the stairs each time. We had 2 different rooms booked and both rooms were very dirty. The dust on the bed side table a lot. Such a pity that this nice hotel turned this badly. Will not stay here again.

The hotel and rooms were fine, clean, comfortable,

BUT the safe wasn’t working and the air ventiltion/conditioner was always on 24 degrees in the room, which is too hot for us( There were NO bathrobes for the spa, however they were not much needed, as SPA WAS AWFUL. Very small, crowded, with 10 kids on 14th Feb. and the Water was very cold, not heated at all.

The entrance was very nice, the hotel overall was very clean and modern and staff was friendly

The bed was uncomfortable and the pillows were very thin. The shower temperature kept changing.

Nice location, on one side you have the station and on the other side the shopping centre. Everything was pretty much on walking distance.Beds were really comfortable!Hotel has a good vibe.Staff upon arrival was friendly and explained some things of the city on the map what was pretty nice and personal!

There was no good ventilation in the bathroom so we kept having a weird smell like a sewage kind of, there was also no heating in the room only a airco which had no heating setting so the room was pretty cold. When I went to reception there was someone who said they cannot do anything about the temperature or the smell.Bath towels were dirty with stains upon arrival so had to wait for housekeeping the next morning to give us clean towels. The tv had no internet connection so we could not enjoy the tv, when asked about it the only response I got was “we broke it”.Pillows are soo flat unfortunately since the bed was so comfortable this was def a minus point for that.House keeping was pretty bad at cleaning especially the bathroom, after they had been to clean I could clearly still see hairs on the Floor and in the shower and overall I still saw dirty things on the Floor.

The room was amazing and so did the breakfast! It was a pity I didn't try wellness and the gym because I didn't have time enough

Room was spacious, bright, quiet, comfortable. Bathroom very comfortable. Amazing location in the Japanese quarter. Convenient chec-in and check-out.

The room would get moisture since no window could be opened and there was not fan in the bathroom. While we had booked for 2 people, towels were for only one the first and the third day... Creamers were not replenished for some reason, only coffee. And in general, the room was not being cleaned - it seemed that were only checked upon and every day the maids did as they pleased - one day took away more towels, one day pushed bed together, one day took one of our keys, but never vacuumed and never cleaned coffee cups for example...

Nice clean room, comfortable bedLocation- surrounded by lots of nice Asian restaurants

Tea/coffee maker with pods. Would’ve preferred a jug with tea bags instead.

Overall nice hotel, pleasant rooms and good location.

Unfortunately, our one-night stay was disturbed by a pipe leak on our floor, so we had to change rooms. To be fair, we were upgraded to a larger room and offered a complimentary breakfast, which we really appreciated. However, in the second room the air conditioning was not working properly, and it was very cold. Overall, we were a bit disappointed with our stay, but maybe we were just unlucky.

Spacy room, very comfortable beds, exceptional buffet breakfast with great coffee

    Lovely room, comfortable bed.

The bathroom was small and the door was transparent and had gaps around the outer part

    Terrible experience

My experience at Clayton Hotel was extremely unpleasant. The receptionist treated me with a complete lack of respect and professionalism. He asked me to vacate the premises with my one-year-old twins and find another hotel simply because I questioned the reason for being charged an additional amount beyond what I had already paid through Booking.com. This experience is not something I would wish upon anyone. I ultimately paid the extra amount in order to avoid further humiliation in the presence of my children.

    Location

No heating, I asked several times, also the manager was very rude to me.

    10LeePosted on: 2-2-2026

I read a couple of "negative" reviews but upon arrival I was truly shocked at how anyone could find fault with this hotel. The room we had was superb, it's in a brilliant location and the breakfast was as good as you could hope for. If I return to Dusseldorf, I will stay here again without hesitation!
