    • Beautiful garden to relax at the end of the day. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Breakfast was very good. We'll definitely be back!
    • Dog friendly. Staff was understanding and helpful. Location is perfect - 10 mins drive away from Bruge.
    • The location, situated in a nice park

    Cons -

    • Mice! Mice! Mice! Our first room was infested with mice. Their scratchin woke us up in the middle of the night, we had to request a room change.
    • The room was not more as for a care or health institution:small, all white, not a single frame on the wall, no chair. Two small single beds. Not all like the pictures on their website.
    • After a long day visiting the city we were not able to use the bar / restaurant due to a private function using all of the facility. This was very poor as there were no other facilities within walking distance. The staff were very non understanding and rude when we asked.

In general the facility meet the expectations but the garden was exceptional. We were there during the winter but I am sure will be great during the spring and the summer for a drink.

I had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The location was perfect, the atmosphere was amazing, and the view was truly breathtaking. It gave me a special sense of peace and relaxation. The parking was also very convenient and well-organized, which made my stay even more comfortable. Breakfast was good, and overall the hotel was very clean and tidy. Everything was perfectly arranged, and I was really happy during my stay. Highly recommended

Hotel as such was in a period building with scenic location , with free parking .

Carpet of the room was very dirty , the toilet window was chipping away from edges not maintained . Room TV was fitted higher then the room centre light !

Very beautiful location. We really loved the castle and the surrounding gardens. We had a nice spacious suite with a balcony, which was nicely renovated and more modern looking than we expected. Our kids had a regular room, which was a bit less modern and had a shower that was a bit too low for them (they're tall).Parking was free and easy, right in front of the hotel. It's only a short drive (5-10 min) to the center of Bruges.

The beds were a little soft. The main areas of the hotel could use a bit of a touch up (carpet in the hallways, etc.), but the rooms were perfectly clean.

We had one of the most special experiences of our lives at Hotel Lodewijk Van Male. We came to Bruges to celebrate our daughter’s 2nd birthday, and we are so grateful that we chose this magnificent hotel. From the moment we arrived, we felt truly at home. The entire team welcomed us with such warmth, kindness, and sincerity that it made our special day even more meaningful. They prepared the most beautiful room overlooking the garden for us, and surprised us with thoughtful treats, a lovely gift, and a heartfelt card for our daughter. Every small detail showed how much they truly care about their guests, and it touched our hearts deeply. The hotel itself, housed in a stunning historic building, offers a unique and magical atmosphere. Our room was spotless, cozy, and filled with a peaceful charm. The breakfast was absolutely delightful — fresh, carefully prepared, and the perfect start to our day.Hotel Lodewijk Van Male is not just a place to stay; it’s a place where beautiful memories are created. Their genuine hospitality and attention to detail made our most special day unforgettable. We are sincerely thankful to the entire team, and if we ever visit Bruges again, we wouldn’t think of staying anywhere else!

The hotel from the outside is like a palace and you feel like in a fairy tale. Very nice and spacious and nice for a walk around there. Breakfast is quite good and they had nice desserts too. The strawberry tarts yummy..

The room we got was really spacious but a bit messy as the furniture were not well organised. The floor was too noisy so each step was making a lot of noise as the flooring ate too old I guess. Overall it is so expensive and in the room we didn’t had any water glass or anything for our comfort. Plus there is no reception after 9 so in case of emergency god knows. Too pricy not to have these things,

Nice grounds at the back of the hotel. Decent breakfast. Very easy to get the number 50 bus near to the city.

Way too expensive for what it is. A lot of reviews talk about how great it is. For the price i really don’t understand why. Sure the rear of the hotel is nice but the point of a hotel is to have a comfortable stay, which i don’t think it really offers based on the cost. If you are that in love with the rear garden, I recommend staying somewhere else and just wandering in. The gates always open.On the first night there wasn’t any hot water so I had to enjoyed a lukewarm shower. For a family with a young baby (<1 years) the room above the bar was not a great location. We heard so much noise. The walls were so thin and any noise really traveled through corridors and into rooms. God help those hearing our baby cry at 2am.

The Hotel was very inviting from the outside and the park surrounding it was amazing with beautiful lawns and a large lake with swans and ducks. The bar area was nicely presented but we weren't able to use it in the evening as it had closed when we returned from dinner. We were not welcomed very well when we arrived. Literally given the key and sent us off to the room. The corridor to the room was full of things that seemed to be for a storing area. The room was large and had an amazing view over the fabulous park but it was very tired and needed a complete decoration. No tea or coffee facilities were in the room. The bed was comfortable but the pillows were square and extremely small. The breakfast was very nice and had a good assortment. We would have stayed another night but felt that it wasn't welcoming enough.

    The breastfast was good

The room was run down, smelt like plastic

    Beautiful building.Comfortable bed.Large room

Room was very bland, needed assessories to make it cosy.Bathroom freezing cold - No heating at all.No towel rails to hang towels, so had to put the towel on the floor outside the shower to be able to reach it.High charge for two tiny dogs, no facilities, ie: dog bowl, bed. Other hotels (15 total) on our journey supplied more and charged less.Tables for breakfast were not set. When someone left the table the dishes were removed but the tablecloth didn't get cleaned, lots of crumbs left behind, torn/worn tablecloths.Very temperamental coffee machine. No kettle, coffee machine or fridge in the room (standard these days).

Fantastic setting in a beautiful place.Amazing staff and great service. Warm thanks to Maria who made our breakfast time extra special. Comfy bed & clean linen. Bottled water provided every morning.

The outside looks fabulous. Free parking Breakfast was good

The inside has much to be desired. No one at reception desk. Heard someone behind a door and knocked. Went to our room, to see a bed and a plastic chair and a 2x3 table to place items on a so called desk There is no lobby to sit in. I thought staying here would have been more of a fairy tale adventure. Carpet in room stained. It is a three star hotel but not sure why.

It was clean and the grounds were beautiful. It was an 8 minute drive from Bruges and Damm was only about a 3 minutes drive in the other direction and had a supermarket in. The bed was comfortable. Breakfast was nice.

Some of the staff were not very helpful and the reception was a button on a phone line. We ordered a crib for our baby which was broken. There were no hot food shops without going into Bruges.
