York’s ancient city walls can be reached in just 10 minutes’ walk, with a further 5 to 10 minutes’ walk taking guests to the historic attractions, including the spectacular York Minster. Alternatively there is a bus stop outside the hotel, and from there a bus in to town takes 3 minutes. York Railway Station is just a 10-minute walk or few minutes by car, and the Elmbank has limited parking. There is also a bus stop near the hotel, with sightseeing tours going in to town. York Racecourse is a few minutes' away.

- Atmosphere and staff friendliness.
- very friendly, cleam nice decor room big and comfortable
- Hotel was walking distance to the train station and major sites in town. It was also quiet and clean. Would stay there again.
Cons -
- The room wasn't cleaned while we were there. When I pointed out how I'd left the card on the door requesting it be cleaned I was told some staff didn't know the difference between the "Clean" and "Don't clean" side of the card. A strange response.

Atmosphere and staff friendliness.
