    Pros +

    • Very friendly owner and really clean and comfortable bed
    • The staff and the locals are some of the friendliest people you could meet. The food was amazing and so were the ales. The rooms were lovely and clean. Jazz who works there was a diamond she really looked after us. I will definitely going be back there
    • Lovely old pub in a lovely location. Communication was excellent. Room was lovely, clean, comfortable & warm.Hosts were friendly & happy to help with anything. Breakfast was good with a friendly chat.

    Cons -

    • My only negative was that the pub wasn’t open on the evening of my stay, as they do not open on a Monday, but that’s my bad as I didn’t read it. It didn’t spoil the stay.
    • Nicer weather would’ve been even better but that’s not the Red Lions fault.
    • No lift but building is 200 years old !!

Lovely village pub with all the facilities you need . Welcoming hosts , very clean and extremely big breakfasts! Great location opposite a beautiful church .

There was nothing we didn’t like .

Great location in a beautiful village. Warm and friendly staff and pub, with good food and a huge hearty breakfast. Comfortable and good value.

In general the room was clean and everything I expected for the price. The ceiling is low in the bathroom so you can't stand in the shower and you have to sit in the bath. The blind, when rolled down, has numerous very large dead flies and was quite grim.

Great location - pretty views. Helpful staff. Excellent curry!

Good breakfast. Staff and room brilliant. Bus was my only transport and could have been better facility later in evening especially Sunday.

Only bus service. Accomodation was top.

Lively friendly pub in heart of village. Sidbury is a very pretty place with plenty of scenic hilly walks straight from the pub, and good bus connections from right outside with Honiton and Sidmouth and Exeter. Very hospitable owners and staff. Good breakfast.

My room was pretty basic (and hot as it was at the top of the building and the weather was hot). The fan provided was too noisy to use at night. Not a proper shower and no curtain so impossible to not wet the floor. Bedside lamp was no good for reading by as too low. Some of the niggles could be easily corrected and give guests a better experience.

The day I was able to have breakfast it was good. Dinner was good.

No parking. Breakfast too late for a working person.

200 year old pub with quaint features.

My daughter’s room had a very low ceiling and tiny dressing table. Our shower fitting needed repair.

I chose not to eat/have breakfast as I was visiting relatives in the area so cannot vouch for that but the menu & facilities were very good. The bar was eclectic and interesting and the ales available were good.Very clean.Amazing outdoor space. The owners/staff were fantastic and friendly !

My single room was in an attic space and very low ceiling height (6ft) but adequate - just dont try standing in the shower !Parking on the street only !

Great food, friendly staff. Room was bigger than expected (low ceilings which would be an issue for taller people but fortunately not me).

    4TullyPosted on: 7-26-2025

    The pub seemed nice

The very low ceiling in the room. The heat in the room, the fan being very loud.

    10VickyPosted on: 7-22-2025

    Friendly welcome. Clean comfortable room.

    10ClarePosted on: 7-20-2025

The pub had a real sense of community. It has been there a long time and the building is old with a lot of character. The owners have decorated the pub and the rooms keeping a sense of the history. It was also bright and welcoming. The bedding was good quality. It was very comfy very clean and there was everything there we needed.
