- To be honest the staff made our stay the best it could be.I had a great treatment at the spa from Sadie and Molly on reception was so helpful and polite a real credit to the hotel. The spa facilities are clean and the pool temperature was perfect.Aiden ‘s service at breakfast and dinner was remarkable. So thank you all for a wonderful break away.
Cons -
- One little hiccup on our 2nd visit to the white room for dinner. We booked it at reception before we went out in the morning, but somehow our booking didn't get passed to the restaurant manager ( the young man working on the 20th Feb)Even though there was plenty of room, the young man commented on the fact that we weren't booked in. This made us feel a little unwelcome and uncomfortable even though we did follow the booking procedure.
- The room. The staff. Facilities. Cleanliness. Bathroim covered in black mould. Toilet rim and overflow bath and basin never been near bleach
- The only minor thing was there are no sockets right by the bed for phone charging, but I had a battery pack, so no problem.

All excellent, especially the dinner service and food - excellent quality and, importantly to me, delivered hot (and promptly). We used the more casual “white room” restaurant rather than the main/posh one as I didn’t want to dress up for dinner, but it was still a very nice quality place.
The only minor thing was there are no sockets right by the bed for phone charging, but I had a battery pack, so no problem.
Very good selection of breakfast cereals, juice, bread, fruit, fish, charcuterie; wide range of cooked breakfast items, all delicious. The dinner menu was very good and we really enjoyed our meals on both evenings, the beef was especially good. We’ve been staying here regularly for over 20 years and it’s our favourite hotel in Sidmouth. The main draw for us is the very comfortable sun lounge overlooking the sea where you can really relax and enjoy afternoon tea
Everything was lovely but there is never any acknowledgment of us being longstanding customers or welcome returners
Luxurious, clean
Small room even smaller bathroom. Exhaust vent noise in the morning which woke us up.
Staff lovely, hotel generally great
Pool very cool - a stretch to call it “heated” which definitely marred the experience. Some of the food was excellent but the breakfast was always somehow off, nothing tasted quite right and I would never normally say this about a hotel breakfast. The beds were the smallest singles I have ever seen - I could barely turn around without finding an edge and I am 5”8 and regular build. Restaurant was also slightly cramped and stuffy.
Location was lovely breakfast was a bit ordinary but ok
A bit more choice at the buffet breakfast Nicer fresh bread
The staff at this stunning hotel are all charming and could not be more helpful. The spa is delightful and very relaxing and a real bonus was the heated outdoor pool was still open (end of Oct) too. We will be back very soon!
Could not fault anything.
Beautiful location. Spacious lounges. Great Margarita cocktail
The room was small and cost high for what was on offer off season.
Lovely room and breakfast was good. Hotel beautiful and location excellent. Really enjoyed the spa treatment we had with Sadie. She was very knowledgeable and gave a personalised massage after a consultation about my specific health issues.
Great location, great facilities, lovely staff.
Smell from kitchen vents on one side of the hotel, which unfortunately, my room was above.
Location, spa and food
Noisy cleaners at 8am on a sunday
Location is great. The building and ambience also really good.
The windows let massive drafts in.The breakfast is underwhelming. If you don't use the spa/gym/pool facilities it's very overpriced for what it offers.
The room was very comfortable. We had unacceptable noise from an adjacent room and when reported to reception it was dealt with quickly and effciently
The breakfast was rather mean with quite small portions and a long delay between ordering and bringing to the table Considering the price they could do better. On Saturday night there was dance band which did not appear to be appreciated by the clientele. We were hassled several times to close our drinks account even though it was early and we were residents. Strange behaviour.
Staff/team are charming and professional. The beds are very comfortable and we slept well; this is so important to be able to unwind when away on a break.Food in the white room was superb and the waiting staff so helpful and attentive :)
The hotel is very traditional but it also mixes some modern aspects; The spa facilities are just brilliant. The Dinner was excellent and breakfast was great, and hot.Every staff there was courteous, service was impeccable. Very spacious room with a great view. The room was maybe a bit too hot for me but opening the window a bit was no hardship. On the whole, an excellent stay, very relaxing.
Good choice at breakfast. Would have liked some nuts for selection with the cereals or a fruit coulis to go with the yogurt.
The location - food was great - variety of drink very good - facilities at the hotel brilliant
I feel a bit uncomfortable- as if I was not trusted to pay my bill or could not afford to say at the Victoria - I noticed a difference in the way we where treated - and I have stopped before had Sunday lunch and afternoon tea as we only live around 30 miles away . But we were definitely looked down on so I felt somewhat uncomfortable- so we ate out in the evening at a local pub the swan .
