- Location & friendliness
- The staff was very helpful, the location was ideal. Breakfast was perfect.
Cons -
- Old & tired.Lack of parking spaces.
- I grew to really appreciate my room No. 24. But my first impression is the slightly cold blue wall colour. However, blue is calm with vibrancy against the light brown carpet colour (that works as a complementary colour.) Useful wardrobe, cabinet and desk with a comfortable chair. I could spend all day there people watching and reading (the ceiling light is no problem for reading). Solid walls, although I always take ear plugs. Cotton sheets, mattress suited me and I slept well, except on one windy evening (I wonder what a winter gale is like?) Double glazing with new windows, no draughts. The ensuite with the toilet/ basin & shower is nicely decorated, all looks new again. What an interesting direct forward view of the sea front, a popular spot for swimmers; although next time I would try for a balcony of two views.A sign to request consideration, because the room next to me had an angry visitor who sounded like a "fog horn"; luckily he departed after half an hour at 10:15pm. ironically, he was angry because he couldn't get in to the hotel. He didn't have a security fob as he wasn't staying here; he had forgotten his phone he shouted; and he was late. He re-visited his mother (I suppose) the next evening, but he wasn't angry this time and quite normal. Maybe request visitors NOT to go up to the bedrooms. I had an emergency hotel telephone number incase, but luckily he was a visitor and left around 10pm. He lived locally and wasn't on holiday and the vibes he left show the impact one person can have. It was a quiet room otherwise

The whole hotel is a high standard of decor throughout, I stayed on the 2nd floor and it was immaculate, light and fresh feel. Much better than i expected, all re-decorated (no smell) friendly, helpful and there is a lift. a very well run hotel. A tasty breakfast to look forward to each morning. My room

The breakfast was okThe balcony fantastic (although couldn’t open door as lock had shifted)Staff very pleasant
The room was warmSausages & bacon were not too nice & egg was hard!
We had room 29, 2nd floor corner. Views of the sea from two directions and a balcony - perfect! We took our dog and in the room was a doggy blanket and some treats, a lovely touch. Because we had a dog we could not sit in the main dining room for breakfast, but this was not a problem, as they had a separate area called "the shed" which was comfortable and quiet, the dog even got her own sausage! Excellent choice at buffet breakfast and a veggie breakfast. Could not fault this hotel and will definitely be returning.... As long as I get room 29!!
One evening people were eating fish in the bar area and it stunk!
Variety of choice for breakfast good, staff friendly and helpful.
Noisy neighbours on our first night
Our favourite hotel in Sidmouth.Staff always helpful/friendly Breakfast and evening meal/no issues
Lovely room with fantastic sea view and spacious balcony. Wonderful location and friendly staff.
Breakfast was a little disappointing - scrambled eggs were overcooked. Also, I wasn’t keen on being told we had to take a table corresponding to our room number, very old fashioned, why not just let people choose their own table?
Excellent location, room could not have been cleaner, spacious. Lovely view from large balcony. Staff friendly Breakfast was ok…cooked breakfast wasn’t great, but choice of continental was lovely .
Cooked breakfast wasn’t great
Comfortable, clean, friendly with great views from the front. We didn't eat so can't comment
Perfect location, perfect room, perfect view!Staff were lovely, room was immaculate, bar area is a lovely space...and the price of the drinks were competitive and not a rip off. We'll be back!
Lovely room, staff very efficient in dining room, good chef.
Parking a problem although there was a car park opposite.
Lovely clean hotel, perfect location, lovely sea views helpful staff & a good breakfast!!
Good seafront positionFriendly reception
Bit dated and no atmosphere in restaurant so are elsewhere , older clientele
Friendly, comfortable clean and lovely food. Lucky enough that we could park on the road as the hotel only has a small car park but this is what you have to put up with in a UK seaside town, so was not an issue.
Very good value for money as a solo traveller, lovely breakfast included and friendly staff.
All meals were excellent with a good variety of choices. The bedroom was of a very high standard with lovely view of the bay.
No parking available
Location
Poor parking facilities and dated rooms
My single bedroom was delightful, sea view, although could be very hot in the summer. But well designed, bed very comfortable, shower room well appointed. Lovely dining room. Good breakfast although I couldn’t manage a full English, but they did look good!Staff very helpful and friendly.
Nothing after only two nights.
