Lantern House has a convenient location, just a few hundred yards from the River Cam and about a mile (1 mi) from the city center. The Grafton Shopping Center is just a 10-minute walk away. The hotel offers a range of accommodations. Private bathrooms and rooms with shared bathrooms are both available. All rooms have TVs. While the Lantern does not serve any meals including breakfast, a range of restaurants are found half a mile away. Many of Cambridge's famous colleges are just a short walk away and the heart of the city can be easily reached on foot, by crossing one of the beautiful greens. Regular buses are available nearby for those who prefer not to walk.

- Photos miss leading. Didn¿t speak to or see any staff despite ringing all numbers on door. Two flowerpots at the front filled with fag ash. 20 rooms squashed into the house. Felt vulnerable as a female traveller. 10 or more sharing toilet and shower.
- Looks exactly like an undergraduates' house at the end of term! I understand it's relatively cheap, but so cheap as to merit no duvet cover and bent wire coathangers? Long black hairs & cobwebs all over bedroom & bathroom took the biscuit...
- Owner does not live on premise, all interaction done through phone calls including checking in. Bathrooms were not clean, no heat in the room. Smoke alarms go off around 9 am every morning.
