Cons -
- No heating for the two nights stay in room, it’s very cold when staying in the room. I checked the switch of the heating of the room, it has a notice on the wall stating that in order to save energy, the heating will switch off automatically when sensing no one at the room, but will switch on again once it sensed the occupancy of people in the room. So I tolerate for no heating hoping that the heating will start again, but up till 3:00am overnight still no heating, and also the duvet of the bed is thin which can’t keep my warmth, so I can’t fall asleep for the 1st night.Even more uncomfortable is while I am having my breakfast in the dining hall next morning, it’s chilly cold too. I just think maybe the 2nd night the heating system of the room and even the whole hotel has been sorted out when I return back from outside in the evening, so I go to my conference later on. However, when I come back in the evening and enter the room, no heating still ! I can’t stand for the chilly room temperature anymore, so I report this case to the receptionist and she arrange the room service to give me a mobile heater to solve this situation first. At last, I felt asleep for the 2nd night ! In the last day when I check out in the front desk, I tell the staff about the heating issue, her answer is normally the handyman is off during weekend, so no one repair the heating system during the weekend ?!I am very disappointed about this, I got running nose starting from the first night…
- Nothing really. The room was a bit warm, but I should have asked to have it turned down.
- Very noisy so much so I had to move rooms in middle of night, very hot rooms and second room had no working shower.

Good location, comfy bed,
Very noisy so much so I had to move rooms in middle of night, very hot rooms and second room had no working shower.
Friendly staff and welcome. Room was very spacious, clean and comfortable. Good breakfast and great location.
Bit of noise during the night but otherwise a nice stay
Friendly and helpful staff. They were a bit overworked. One staff member for reception, bar and kitchen. Really comfortable bed
There was a drain smell from the bathroom sink. It made the whole room smell. This is likely part of a bigger problem, not necessarily the hotel’s fault.
Very comfortable, clean room. Very good cooked breakfast. Great location close to restaurants and pubs in Edgbaston Village and tram to city centre. All the staff were professional and helpful.
Nothing.All good.
Breakfast was satisfying and staff were helpful
As I have a knee injury, a lift would have been preferred.
Pleasant
Decor tired. Unable to control the heating/ open windows, the bedrooms were far too hot.
Good location.
Main door locked on arrival at 3.15pm. Stood outside for almost 10 minutes after knocking (no bell) and trying to ring.On BOOKING.COM it states there is a restaurant serving dinner. This is NOT the case. Dinner is not served Friday to Sunday. I would not have booked this hotel had I known that. Reception and bar areas are not clean (very dusty). Curtains hanging off poles. Chairs in the bar stained.Rooms in the 'old' part of the hotel are just that 'old'. Don't be duped into paying for a 'superior' room as they are not!
Don’t bother
The room was cold so a fan heater was provided which helped but was too noisy to sleep with on. The sate of the hotel was very run down. The carpets around the hotel were dirty. Food was poor quality, breakfast was the worst as it was all overcooked.
Location Good room comfy bed
Bar closed at 9
The hall and bar area
Our room was a mile away from the réception. It was old and in serious need of refurbishment. No heating in the bathroom (despite having a radiator there, the staff said they were all turned off in every room). It was very very cold. We decided to leave.
Nice historical old hotel building in good location outside city centre.
Heating wasn't working quite so well, but okay. We managed.
Location was perfect not far from city attractions with many transport facilities to get to places. Staff very accommodating.
The room was comfortable but cold I thought, could have done with some spare blankets in the room.
the hotel is very tired....
I brought colleagues over from France, rooms were poor and one had no heating. January and snowing outside, the guy slept in his coat after being told there were no more rooms available.
The night manager was courteous and accommodating in spite of running the entire property single handed
The general manager of the property chose to close the bar and facilities aswell as turning the heating off, clearly to reduce costs
Great breakfast, friendly and accommodating staff. Pity the hotel didn't inform us in advance that the restaurant was closed over the holidays.
The receptionist was really nice and tried to sympathise with me and agreed to my issues
The whole of the hotel was without heating and being -4 was unbearable, they should not be open !!
location and new, well-maintained rooms.
Access during night hours is not easy
Hotel gave us a free upgrade when we arrived to an absolutely beautiful suite. Was lovely and clean hotel- lovely decor
