Cons -
- Staff at front desk very miserable. I arrived and said 'hi, how are you doing?' and was met with the reply - 'name please?' I also called to ask for a later check out and her reply was simply 'you'll have to pay' not any pleasantries at all. I honestly feel like the lady on the front desk on Saturday evening should be re-trained and taught some manners. It doesn't cost anything to just be polite and friendly to people who are visiting the hotel you work at.
- Breakfast is excellent and nice rooms
- Disappointed not to stay in the club double, but the rooms we were given were ok, I did miss the coffee machine tbh.The food was a little disappointing in comparison to other visits. Scallops were poor, New York steak was not great and the pinot noir wasn’t pleasant After our meal we wanted to relax in the bar, but the ‘banging music’ was not to our taste so we went elsewhere. Not sure if we will return or stay elsewhere

The location, the friendly efficient staff, the room, absolutely everything and car park literally next door.
Our room , a double double, was really big with two king size beds , lots of space for two people. It was so quiet in the night we both slept like babies. The bar is a cosy and stylish space to spend time in after a busy day.
Excellent location beautiful hotel the most comfortable bed ever .great restaurant and bistro bar nice and lively.cafe in entrance .lovely staff what more can you ask for
Nothing. just the bed was that comfy i couldn’t get out of it
It was clean, spacious, comfortable
The property is slightly dated with its decor, I think it can be over priced also
The bar staff but apart from that nothing.
I requested a late check-out, which was granted, but the way it was handled was disappointing. The response came with visible frustration and an eye roll, along with a comment that many others had asked the same. A simple, polite yes or no would have been perfectly acceptable. That said, there were other members of the reception team who were friendly and professional, so the experience wasn’t entirely negative. However, front desk staff are the first point of contact, and customer service should consistently reflect that.Unfortunately, the room itself also felt tired and dated. The shower pressure was very low, and the slippers provided with the robes did not appear clean.Breakfast was also an issue, as our order was incorrect twice. Perhaps someone had a late start that morning — but regardless, attention to detail is important.I used to really enjoy staying here, which makes this visit even more disappointing. Sadly, based on this experience, I won’t be returning.
Great hotel, with good facilities. The bar is lively with a good choice of drinks. They have a spa but we didn’t have time to use it. They offer a discount code for prepaid parking (recommended). Staff were friendly and helpful. Location is great for the City.
The lighting in the room was not bright enough.
Location,staff
Pillows, heating system and breakfast was terrible with green liquid in the eggs.physically sick after 4 mouthfuls of a cold ,supposedly cooked to order, full breakfast
Lovely, comfortable, modern hotel. A short walk from New Street Station.Excellent welcome from Gavinder.Cool, atmospheric bar.Great breakfast. We were only there for one night but thoroughly enjoyed our short stay.
didn’t receive the upgrade you emailed me about ( but as this is based on availability this is fair.
room felt a little worn in parts which is below malmaison expectations and does not match the experience of our precious visit.
The room was amazing very comfortable bed and large bathroom. The breakfast menu was quite extensive
Would have liked to have some porridge on the breakfast menu. Plus could get quite noisy at night as the rooms were not soundproof could hear a lot of noise being a Friday/Saturday night
Lovely room very spacious with coffee machine and comfy, mammoth bed. From the reception to the restaurant and spa, the staff are efficient, friendly, attentive and helpful. A stones throw away from New Street. Great food options too.
Excellent facilities - all new and modern and very comfortable.
The bar area's music was very loud but it was a Saturday night and you could not hear it from the room.
Room was okaySpa was advertised but when arriving was informed an additional £15 needed to be paid to use them and last entry was 5.15 which is unhelpful when visiting for work
As above
The staff were amazing there give me a free upgrade to a suite for my birthday and some cocktails as well
Location
No tea & coffee making facilities in the room and spa is not free
I've stayed at a few Malmaisons and especially the Birmingham one a few times. The staff are always super friendly and check in is always quick and easy.
The room - in the past every room has been wonderful, this was an internal room, we had one of these a few years ago an they always have a slightly odd smell and obviously a lot less natural light.
