the bed was small uncomfortable with awful pillows. The fire alarm went off twice this morning waking us.
Lovely location in Birmingham's only Georgian square. Staff were lovely and helpful. The bar/lounge area has a lovely atmosphere and my late lunch and evening meal were both excellent. (I didn't have time to try the breakfast.)
Whilst there wasn't anything actually wrong with my room!... it sort of lacked the wow factor compared with the public areas of the hotel. But it had everything needed for a comfortable stay.
Bar area
Toilet needs fitting better to the wall, mattress not very comfortable
Excellent location, convenient to restaurants and very beautiful spot on Saint Paul's Square.
I expected the place to be nicer overall. Walls and doors are scuffed and the mattress and linens left a fair amount to be desired. The room decor is nice but feels cheap and the floors are hard industrial carpet. It's overall fine but not what I was expecting for the price.
Allocated our favourite room on request. Smooth, speedy check in
From. checking in to check out the hotel and staff were outstanding, the room was excellent with added bonus of an complimentary mini bar. The bar was very nice too.Location was ideal & we will be returning to stay again. Fully recommend.
Parking could have been a little cheaper as a hotel guest.
3rd time staying here. Very well located and smooth check in. We were in room 101 which is my favourite room in the hotel. Loved the view of St Paul's Square.Even though the bar/restaurant was very busy, we weren't affected by noise.
Unfortunately, through no fault of the hotel, several of the roads in the area were due to be closed at 4am for the marathon, so we had to leave at 3.30am to avoid being delayed in Birmingham. Sadly we lost several hours in our comfy beds and weren't able stay for breakfast.
Perfect for a work trip in the Jewellery quarter. Having the bar below was perfect for dinner and breakfast.
The room I stayed in was on the front of the hotel above the entrance to the pub. So it’s noisy - bring ear plugs.
the room was fine
key fob wasn't working, even after being replaced with new ones several times... had to get it reset every time i went to the room.. and the receptionist was never available so i had to wait around every time i wanted to enter my room... also the lift wasnt working and the rceptionist checking me in (healthy strong looking man) did not offer to help with my luggage up the stairs... general poor attitude from the staff... i think they're also pissed at management for not fixing things and generally seem to not give a shit about the place... terrible
It has great decor
We were in the accessible room, the bathroom felt like a prison cell! But it was clean and practical.
beautiful location, very friendly staff and atmospheric bar and restaurant. We came down accidentally early for breakfast, but the staff brought us coffee and made our breakfast even though the restaurant wasn't yet open. Nothing was too much trouble. Also walking distance to lovely restaurants in the area.
Ironing board was broken!
Clean, welcoming, and a great location. You would not know you were in the middle of a busy city. Great night's sleep in comfy beds. The complimentary Prosecco, orange juice, and bottled water in the fridge were most welcome. The receptionist was really lovely, polite, and courteous, I'm sorry I did not get his name, although I recall he was from Algeria. I would highly recommend a stay here in St Pauls House and will be back.
Nice location, in walking distance from city center.
The hotel is on top of a party pub. So be prepared for noise Friday and Saturday, vomit by the front door witch will stay there until the next rain shower wash it away. Dont use the restaurant Friday and Saturday, there is a fine Italian Restaurant just down Ludgate Hill, and also small breakfast houses in the neighborhood.
Lovely boutique hotel. Every member of staff we interacted with on the stay were very friendly and helpful! The rooms were all very clean and was perfect for a one night stay.
I'm not sure there was enough difference in the rooms to warrant the price difference in the "superior rooms". Very minor. The walls are not particularly soundproofed but this wasn't too much of an issue as seemingly quiet most of the time.
After raising an issue with noise from an air con unit the staff could not have been more obliging and immediately offered change of room which was very much appreciated and particularly attractive as it overlooked a lovely square with St Paul's church as a backdrop. The staff on reception were very helpful and obliging
Pre booking was a little confusing and I was not able to speak directly with a manager. However he did engage with me during the stay. Breakfast was somewhat chaotic with not enough staff around to serve, clear tables and replenish parts of the buffet. However the choices on offer were good with plenty of variety.
Staff were lovely. Great location. Comfortable room with everything you need for a overnight stay. Complimentary drinks in the mini bar was a really nice touch.
- Great central location in the jewellery quarter- Great bathroom, good shower pressure- On the whole quiet, and you couldn't hear the noise from the bar downstairs.
- Bed was incredibly uncomfortable. It looked like a camp bed and was a very thin mattress, we could feel the springs through the mattress and woke up with back pain. Pillows much too hard so having 2 hard 2 soft would have been ideal.- Strange machinery noise early hours of the morning (sounded like air con or something coming from outside).
Broken window hence poor hospitality
Broken window in the room (covered to prevent draught) but really disappointed given there were several other rooms we could have been given. We booked a room with an ensuite, not a room with an ensuite and a broken window!
