    Pros +

    • Free breakfast
    • Great location for the coach station and o2 academy.
    • I liked the bedroom setup very sturdy and felt very safe, having the rules be displayed on the wall was very reassuring. The staff were very friendly and they made the rules very clear.

    Cons -

    • Bed space not good.. Even not able to sit on bed. Head banging.
    • I know it’s a bargain room however a few coat hooks on the wall to hang clothes off would have made life much easier.
    • I could hear the outside world thru the window at night which made me have broken sleep, the bed matress was a little hard at times and that possible contributed to my restless sleep.

The staff were friendly. I had issues with my hot water and heating in the room. When I raised this with reception, one of the staff kindly saw to the issues in the room which enabled me to have a comfortable stay.Tea/coffee/fruit/toast+spreads provided for breakfast.Clean & comfortable

Location is good in the fact it isn't too far to the city centre however the surroundings are not very inviting - rubbish, roadworks and graffiti

    9SannePosted on: 2-14-2026

Location was perfect (a 2 minute walk from o2 institute and bus stop, 10 from the centre)Very welcome and open staff. Rooms were clean, beds were good and firmly set into the wall, so you don't feel anything with other people in your 'flat' (womans only room).Silent and a good place for a night sleep.Coffe and tea during the day, basic breakfast available.

There was no bed light. Would be a plus but not super necessary

Very helpful and friendly staff. The whole place is clean and comfortable.

There were a couple of selfish occupants of the dormitory who seemed to think it was OK to have loud conversations on their phones, despite the posters in the dorm asking for this not to happen.

    Cold rooms

Heaters are not working. The staff opened it for only 1 hrs and closed it. Rooms are cold and duvets are poor. Very Bad experience.

Super friendly staff, helped me out with a mistake I made in my booking, very accomodating and helpful. The bathrooms (showers) were very clean and well maintained. Whole place was well heated and I felt very comfortable in the pod-style beds, and the big lockers were great to fit all my belongings. The kitchen was well equipped too, in the morning it offered free basic breakfast of fruit and spreads, can't complain!Additionally I used the laundry service which was very fast, and cheaper than what you'd spend at a launderette.

Gets a little stuffy in the pods, but opening your curtain a bit solves that problem very easily. My stay was great, I have no further complaints :)

Was very clean and felt safe in their and staff was their was their 24/7 so could ask for help the breakfast was toast and spread and fruit and they was coffee but was really nice with plenty of selection really good value for money

The step for the middle bed could be quite dangerous when trying to get out to go to the bathroom during the night. I slipped many times, trying to get out of bed, and the mattress was a bit thin with a thin blanket

Friendly receptionist. They were very forthcoming re information and service.Good kitchen area. Only 10 minutes walk from Bullring and across the road from Coach Station. Really like the policy on the bedroom wall of good hostel etiquette re use of phones. Makes for a peaceful night.

    - Location is great.- The room is nice.- Breakfast is lovely.- Some of the staff are really kind

    - It is supposed to be 24h reception, I called and ringed at the door multiple times and they didn't open. I arrived at 5 in the morning with pouring snow and I was on the streets for 2 hours (it could have probably been less time, but I had to keep on the move, let's say I would have had to wait 30 mins). Then when I got there the person at the reception said I wasn't there and I was making things up, then they updated their response and said they were probably away at that time.- The heater is controlled by the administration, I was freezing and all my clothes where wet, and I was unable to heat the room up, the heater is too small for the room. It took a whole day from my plans because of this.

    I liked the facility

For my first night it was a challennge for me to sleep where someone next to me kept on coughing and sneezing whole the whole night. I guess its easier to catch a virus in this place

Everything - the staff were incredibly friendly, welcoming and helpful.I stayed in a private twin room with a friend and it was very clean and comfortable. We opted for the shared bathroom but never had to wait! There was a kitchen readily available and a lounge/bar area open until 11pm which was great for hanging out outside of your room! We also got towels and complimentary tea/coffee in our rooms. We also got an unexpected breakfast in the morning, it was simple but a really nice touch, especially given the affordability of this stay.Would definitely recommend and would absolutely stay again

Nothing - it was all great. This is normal for hostels, but just worth noting if you are unfamiliar, you should bring your own toilettries/shower supplies if you need it.

    9AkhtarPosted on: 1-28-2026

Breakfast had a huge range of marmalades and spreads. Coffee was available. The kitchen was well equipped for basic cooking.

Only thing was the lounge was little noisy due to television but I guess it was because people who were staying long term preferred to watch TV. The mattress was a bit thin and could be improved for comfort level.

Private room with en suite was perfectly fine for one night. Location is good for O2 Academy. Staff were efficient and nice.

Not much soundproofing so very easy to hear doors slamming and conversations happening.

This was my third stay at this hostel. I always opt for the private room. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The room was basic, but enough for what we needed. It was great to have a kettle in the room and a private bathroom, not many hostels offer that option. The location is very good for access to the coach station and although it may look rough, I felt safe even when arriving and leaving late at night. The communal areas are nice, too and very convenient to prepare meals and drinks and socialize. The main thing that we appreciated was that the place was clean and friendly.

The room could do with a full size mirror and a couple of coat hooks and/or hangers. Even some over the door hooks would have made our life a lot easier.

I regularly stay here if I find myself in Birmingham, it's really close to the o2 Institute and a short walk from the city center. Always friendly staff, free breakfast options including vegan butter for toast. Cheap and convenient.

Sometimes there's evens on in the area and the venue won't always know when so check locally about that as there was no warning about a fairly late outdoor rave onetime I stayed.

Staff were very good/ helpful and polite. Very clean throughout. Kitchen facility was useful. And basic breakfast was included in our price so that was a bonus Tea/ coffee available all day. Beds in a six bed dorm were fine. Clean fresh linen, Privacy Curtains. Plenty of showers and toilets.

Our dorm was not en-suite (but I believe some rooms are en-suite). Toilets on same level nearby.

    10RufusPosted on: 1-20-2026

Good and consistent breakfast tea, bread and fruits.

It will be better if they can fix dimmer switch light to each bed. It will help any occupant who want to do private reading
