    Pros +

    • Really enjoyed our stay and will return. The restaurant and pub areas were frequented by many locals, always a good sign. Staff were helpful and friendly. Our room was a very good size and well appointed. Great outdoor patio.
    • Great character great little town. Great pub located in the hotel
    • Our room was spacious and quirky. The staff were so friendly, welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. Owners Mel & Ash (chef) are really friendly and accommodating. The location is really quiet at night.

    Cons -

    • Some of the fittings need to be updated, my wife found the mattress a little dated or too soft.
    • We couldn't seem to alter the temperature on the shower. The rooms lighting was quite dim which is lovely for relaxing but not great for getting ready for a wedding. The the lighting in the bathroom compensated for getting ready. Make up etc. No plug near a mirror so made drying hair an issue.
    • Rooms on 2nd floor as fyi.

Great location in a pretty village.

They had run out of Abbot Ale, which was a shame because it has been a long time since I had a oint of draught Abbot Ale ?.

The good thing the bed was comfy, the towels were clean and the room was big.

The bad things the room was noisy at night with music below the room. The door was very difficult to open. The room was very tired and needed updating. The lighting was poor and the bathroom was old fashioned and needed updating .

Staff friendly, food good, lovely and clean, in a great location

Beds really uncomfortable and pull out bed leaning down, so the children felt they was falling into the top of sofa.Showers brilliant for adults, but temperature wouldn't go down enough to shower the children.

    Pleasant

Bathroom was a bit dated and the shower and taps seemed to leak, there was also a leak from the shower onto the floor when in operation

Food was ok. Not that hot. Breakfast was very basic. No offer of toast or other things

Room was could. Old. Bed was very low down. Shower was ok, but couldn’t regulate temperature. So just came out hot.

Good location near Frome, easy parking, great M&S foodhall nearby. Comfy room with character. Bathroom had a bath which is a big bonus! Bedroom very smartly decorated.

Bathroom quite old compared to bedroom, sink was cracked.

A lovely pub with a nice atmosphere. The evening food and breakfast was tasty.

The pull out sofa bed was extremely uncomfortable and I could argue that it was not fit for purpose. It had a bar going across the middle of it and your feet were higher up than your head!

Really spacious comfy room.Good food choices for the family in the bar / restaurant. Lovely staff who couldn’t do enough for us.

TV in room not set up ready so grumpy children until we found the freeview kids channels. Minor issue and easily remedied.

We have stayed here several times. We get a warm welcome. Our room was large, warm and comfortably furnished and equipped. The bathroom also large, warm and good.It is in a convenient place for us.

Is it Green King chain or just the Woolpack that has tightened up so far as the food offer is concerned. Even the biscuits in our room have got smaller! For dinner my partner's chicken schnitzel was tasteless and dry. The sauce disappointed and the rosemary and sea salt skin on fries were just frozen chips.. inedible. My veggie pie, mash and veg was much tastier and better value for money. The desserts were better. Chocolate brownies were ok and Eton mess delicious. The breakfast menu has reduced in terms of the amount of choices. The poached eggs were overcooked and hard, the request for baked beans forgotten. However my bacon was delicious, if somewhat salty.

Room cold, flaking paint, WiFi was hit and miss
